  1. I wish I could find a pair of RF-7's for that price. What a deal man. They look fantastic.
  2. Looks like a great receiver for someone that isn't interested in HDMI support.
  3. I just sold my system today from Craigslist. I live in a small town but am close to Tampa Florida. I agree about the lowballers. I had several offers for $375, $425 and one for $550.00. A guy just picked them up today for my asking price of $800.00 for my Onkyo Receiver, 5 Polk speakers and a velodyne sub. I would post it on Craigslist. Worth a shot and it's free. Just stick to your price that you want to get cause you will probably get several people with low offers that are just trying to get a deal.
  4. I too am sorry to hear about your health. We just had a guy in our church that had an anurism (spelling) on his brain. He had 3 surgeries. Only 1 percent make it through the surgery. He is now part of that 1 percent. Hang onto your faith bro and may God bless you and restore you to good health. If you do sell them separate, what are you asking for the receiver? That is one of the receivers that I have been considering to upgrade to. Michael
  5. I'm not familiar with how your Yamaha does it, but on my Onkyo, I can tell if I am getting 5.1 surround sound from the receiver if it says 3/2 and it will also say Dolby Digital. Some DVD's (like music videos) default to 2 channel stereo or 2.1. Just something to check. I can't wait till I'm able to get my first Klipsch System.
  6. You could use www.photobucket.com to upload your images to and link to them in the forum. I would be interested in the RC-7.
  7. I too would like to learn more about the subject of bi-amping.
  8. Several years ago, I worked in the Home Audio department at Circuit City. We went to a Monster Cable training seminar. At the seminar, the monster cable representative showed us the differences between their cables, brought in samples etc. During the training, he brought out the best audio cable they sold. I believe they were (2) 6 foot audio cables that sold for $700.00. He asked us if we thought they were worth $700.00. Most of us said no and he said we were right. He said they sold it for $700.00 because there were people that would pay that much. Sad huh?
  9. Here is their actual website http://www.mdesignlife.com/productPage.asp?pin=2241 And this component cabinet is whacked at $4999.00. http://www.mdesignlife.com/productPage.asp?pin=2375 I can't see anyone spending $5000.00 on one piece of furniture to hold their audio components. $2000.00 Eleganza Center Channel that has the tweeters firing at the listening area but it's midrange speakers facing straight upwards towards the ceiling? I don't think so.
  10. I guess it's a lot like toast. Once you smell your toast burning, it's too late. []
  11. I totally agree with you there. A higher amp at lower volume would be much better than a lower amp at higher volume. I do not turn my Onkyo above 1/2 way. That is a safe volume for my receiver. When an amp begins to clip, can't you hear it due to distortion or other sounds coming through the speakers?
  12. My suggestion is to let your ears decide. If you turn it up and you hear the slightest bit of distortion, you are pushing your amp further than you need to. Distortion will ruin a speaker. Your Yamaha receiver is pushing 90 watts per channel. The RF-52's are rated at 100 watts RMS so your receiver should be fine pushing the speakers but again, if you hear distortion or a loud popping sound from the speakers when playing loud, back it down. Best wishes to your new system.
  13. Very nice setup man! Thanks for the pics. They look great. We moved 1 year ago back to Florida and I have not put up my rear speakers because I did not want to have to run the wires under the carpet. I miss my rears when watching movies. Patience....just gotta stay patient and my time will come when I will be the proud owner of my RF-7 system. Anyone have a time machine? LOL.
  14. Southern, I wish I could say that I own the system. I am currently still saving for it. We will begin construction on our home in January of 2008 which will have a dedicated theater room. Too bad you are too far for me to visit (I live in Florida). I would LOVE to come and hear your setup. It's exactly what I am looking at buying. I was leaning towards the SVS PB-12/2 from what I have read on the Klipsch and other forums. Seems like one bad sub. I think now I am leaning towards using two 12" subs in separate boxes instead of the two subs being in the same box. This brings up a question. People have recommended having two subs to help with standing waves. Would the SVS PB-12/2 be the same as two separate subs (ex. two PB-12PLUS subs)? I absolutely cannot wait until I have my Klipsch Theater room setup. I spend many of nights dreaming and drooling on the Klipsch forums and searching Craigs List. Just to clarify, you are saying that the RC-7's are good for rear speakers? Do you have yours behind or on the side of your listening area? Do you have any photos of your setup that you can share? You have me drooling and dreaming again. LOL.
  15. I believe I follow your logic...but what is your suggestion to prevent this from happening? Does there need to be more distance between the back wall and the back row?
  16. Very nice touch to your theater Roger. If the movie is bad, does she issue refunds? []
  17. I am leaning towards purchasing the Yamaha YX-V2700 which I believe Best Buy even carries. I heard it at Best Buy powering the RF-82's and sounded great and also heard it as a pre/pro hooked to a 200watt/channel amp powering an RF-7 speakers and it sounded absolutely amazing. I currently have an Onkyo and it has served me extremely well over the years. Just want more power than what it produces and a newer 7.1 receiver.
  18. Very nice setup Roger. I really like the tray and lights. Nice touch.
  19. [] That's what I'm talking about! Loud is good. I guess what I should have realized is that in both the Dolby and THX recommendations, they only show one row of seating. Any thoughts on the 11' screen? I'm wondering if that will be too large for the size of the room. I do not want it so big that it is uncomfortable. Someone suggested using black electrical tape on a wall that would represent the size of the desired screen. Sit at a particular distance and imagine action taking place on the imaginary screen. It would give you an idea of how it would feel to be that particular distance from that size screen. I'm thinking the 8' screen would probably work better for my room dimensions...just wanted to get other thoughts.
  20. Would it be better just to add bookshelves to the rear behind the back row of seats? I was just going by the "recommended" speaker placement from Dolby and THX. I figured they knew what sounds best better than I do.
  21. Anywhere you would like. I posed several questions above in my post. If you could give some advice to them, that would be a great start. It might encourage others to give their .02. Thx Indy.
  22. I am designing the layout of my theater room from scratch in Adobe Photoshop. As you can see below, it will start out as a 5.1 setup with two rows of 4 theater chairs. Speakers will be RF-7's, RC-7 & RS-7. I have not decided on subs yet. Dolby.com and THX.com suggest the surrounds be placed on the side walls 90 - 110 degrees behind the listening area. The "sweet spot" will be the front row. If I place the surrounds at those angles from the front row, they will be in front of the back row seats. Wouldn't this give an improper effect since the sound that would come from the rear speakers would be in front of the listening area of the back row? Any suggestions on the layout of the room? The various lines were used as reference for angles for speaker placement. The line in front of the Left and Right speakers is a false wall (if I decide to have the A/V equipment up front. They will be on a custom shelf above the left or right speaker). If I do not have the false wall up front and make an A/V rack in the back of the room, the false wall will not be necessary. I just want to make sure I can get behind the A/V equipment. I have no idea how I will get back there though. LOL. I'm not sure what size projection screen is adequate for a 15' x 25' room. From what I have read, I could use 8' or go as wide as 11'. The front row is 13.5' from the screen. This is my first theater room. If you notice anything off, please feel free to comment. Any input and suggestions are greatly welcomed.
  23. I took a look on the THX website, don't see any mention of distance but they do show suggested angles. If you look at http://thx.com/home/setup/speakers/front.html you will see they suggest having your speakers at a 45 degree angle from your listening position. Also, take a look at http://www.dolby.com/consumer/home_entertainment/roomlayout2.html . They also have suggestions for angles. If you use their suggested angles, it should show you how far you should have your speakers apart.
