  1. I have a samsung lcd dlp 1080p. seems like a nice telly to me. dlp bulb life is nowhere near 6000 hrs according to the children over on the AVS forum, and many are not inexpensive. 2-3000 hrs is not a real long time, when you leave the thing on overnite a few times. i sort of think the samsungs from buy.com are coming from a factory warehouse with a different name. one can get a 5' model for about $1700 or so on a good day.
  2. wife wants to convert her vynals to digital on her new iMac. will accept pre-amp out. She has a bunch(hundreds) of records from the early and late 60's. I have an antique Dual 701 with a high end Shure of some kind in it. I have a bunch of old teac, kenwood, pioneer and sony receivers laying around. None have pre-amp out. they all have tape out. will tape out work? if not, what is a good econo choice for pre-amp out? What is a good and easy(comparing 2 variables) analog to digital converter program? or should I get her some piece of hardware to do the job? we also have a few computers laying around, so I could dedicate one of them to this task. If this is posted in the wrong place, please move it.
  3. I can live without a sub-woolfer, but my brother in law missed that earth shaking rattle. do I really need an rt-12d, or can I use something a whole lot smaller like an RW-10d or a ksw-12 to just go thump and sound like that car next to me at the traffic light? also, I bought a couple of RS-3's. should i replace my crummy old kef 105.4's with the rs-3's?
  4. if you bought the stuff from best buy, you got 30 days to take it back. no questions asked. I cannot tell if you have floor space or not, I do not have the concentration to read the whole thread, but for same money as RB 61's, you can get a couple Herseys, or a couple la scalas. I do not know where the line out came from, and why is is now gone. fonts are not a specialty of mine.
  5. yes, but then what are you going to do with them. cabinet design is every bit as important as speaker design. you can't just punch a hole in a board ir build a box, stick a speaker in, and get decent results.
  6. what happens when you switch the speakers from right to left?(changing the wires)? put both speakers in the middle and is there a difference between them? switch your RS's with your RF's.
  7. Where you located? some of that stuff ships real expensive. the RS 42's ship inexpensively, and the RC-62 is not bad. both are hot items on ebay. I do not follow rf's, but they are very heavy, and ship for big bucks. local delivery/pickup only on ebay really kills the price. if you have a low approval rating on ebay, that knocks the price down also. the problem with craigslist, unless I have not figured out how to use it(would be no surprise) is that it is very local. I search Klipsch in 5 metro areas, but still miss many. cannot get listings to come up with google.
  8. Klipsh has an online eBay store that sells, among other things, refurbs. saw a pair of RF 35's a week or so ago http://stores.ebay.com/Klipsch-Audio-Technologies I presuem they are Authorized.
  9. I see this on many of the eBay offerings. What does it mean or not mean: This is a new, factory sealed, first run "A" stock unit purchased from an authorized dealer. what does this mean? is there "B" stock? how can one tell A's from B's? are there factory "blems"? with enclosure blemishes?
  10. the only center BB carries is the RC-52 at $300. Both BB & CC have those amazing 30 day return policies. hang onto the receipt. Since they have such a generous plan, out of courtesy, one should keep original packing and inserts to return with the merchandise. Make certain your amp/receiver is set up to fully utilize the center channel. as klipsch claims, 60% of the sound comes out of the center channel. I tried to get an RC-62 from BB with my package purchase(also RS-52's), but if they ain't in the computer, they can't sell them.
  11. I presume replacing my rc-52(i can return the rc-52) with an rc-35 will be an improvement to my system. Is the RC-62 really a huge improvement over the rc-35, or another incremental step? there seems to be a glut of rc-35's out there, so there is a good price point on them. or is the glut out there because they are so inferior to the rc-52 and\or 62?
  12. There was a dense foam between the speakers and the grill on my new RS-42's. It is formed to fit very well. Does it belong there? is it for sound dispersion/muffling, or just for packing? there was no foam in the grill-speaker space on any of my other speakers.
  13. Would an Academy be considered the center speaker of choice for my system, with a pair of RF 82's, or is that overwhelming? If not the Academy which is the center speaker of choice? I have a pair of RS 42's on the sides, and a pair of KEF 105.4's for rears.
  14. I have RF-82 RC-52 RS-42 are on the way from the warehouse, arrival july 5. I had planned to use my antique KEF 105.4's for rears, but one of them seems to have died. I shall therefore ask them if they will again offer the same discount for a pair of RB-61's. or are the RB-51's which they also carry adequate? As others have pointed out, if it ain't in their computer, they cannot sell it. Since they did not have the rs42's and were on their way to the warehouse(sterling VA), I asked about rs 52's and rc 62. they cannot bill the item, so they cannot sell the item. Magnolia is not set up to discount. each item is manually reduced and has a long entry on the sales ticket. If anyone in the DC area wishes to contact this store, PM(or whatever it's called) me.
  15. I read the thread, went to on monday at 1:30 pm to lousiest BB/Magnoliaon the eastern seaboard and found an non-commission agent. Could listen to one def tech 7002,4,6 or an RF 62 at a time. (they were attached 1 each to front and rear outputs!!??). In the second room, only the Yamaha something would play. the RF 82's and the RS 42's were disconnected, as was the RC 52. I simply told them I would buy the set with a 25% discount. They did a round number discount which came out I paid 73.7% of list. They loaded the speakers in the car for me. I am your newest posting Klipsch owner. They also have a "Reward Zone" card that rebates $5 for every $250 (2%) spent. so I did get my speakers for about 72% of list.
