  1. Hey Matrix. How much acoustic difference is there between the RW-12D sub and the RW-10D sub? I was at the local store Ultimate Electronics a few days ago, they had the RF-83s, the RC-64, but only had the 10D sub on display. I think the price difference between the two is about 3-$400. Is the extra cash worth the upgrade investment? Best regards, Don2dusk
  2. Hello Matrix. Since you have helped me out so much, I thought I might see if I could think through your situation out loud. Your RB81s are 19" high. How tall is your ceiling? Most ceilings I would guess are about 8 ft high, which means that unless you are a tall drink of water, your head would easily pass underneath the surrounds. So would you consider mounting them from the ceiling and angling them towards the sweet spot? Angling the speakers from the ceiling may subtract a couple of inches more clearance to the 19" speakers, making them more than 19" ceiling to low point on speaker. As you have your drawing, the rear double doors will open out of your theater room, which will not present a problem with the surrounds getting in the way of the doors. Would this solution be too obtrusive? Also, like JM said, your could have more control by mounting them such that the angle from center could fall within either the 30-45 or 90-110 degree. Don't know if this helps, but it may jog your mind for other creative ideas. Best regards, Don2dusk
  3. By RF83 system, I mean RF83 for mains L/R, RC64 center, RS62 surrounds L/R. I have seen a lot of posts that say the 83s are fairly bassy. My living room is somewhat small--14' X 16'. I don't plan on living here forever, so I want to wisely choose a system that can fill up a larger room quite nicely. As such, with the RF83s being bassy, is there any reason I need to get the RT12D sub right now?
  4. Any takers yet? Frisco, TX? I have a sister that lives in Frisco. Is your wife giving you a deadline for sell-by date? Best regards, Don2dusk
  5. Okay, I can get all of the gear here locally. However, can I leverage my local shop to lower their price, at minimum, the sales tax cost? I know for sure that locally I will be assured of all the full OEM warranties. I can already see that objection answered by the sales guy, first thing out of his mouth will be "yeah, but we have the oem warranty, and a sealed box direct from the mfr. You'd be taking a chance with those guys on the internet!" As a cost-conscious consumer, any ideas on countering that answer? You guys are great! Thanks! Don2dusk
  6. Thanks guys for the input I am so glad that I have joined in as a member of such an elite group of home theater system enthusiasts. As I am aiming to get the most bang for the buck on upgrading my HT system, it is wonderful to get some real honest first hand advice prior to my final purchasing decisions. Are any of you musicians as well? Regards, Don2dusk
  7. I am considering the Yamaha RX-V2700 for a new receiver. I am also planning on purchasing the Klipsch RF-83 complete set. Will the RX-V2700 pair quite nicely with the RF-83 series? Currently, I have a Kenwood KRV9030 that is about 14 years old, so it's time for it to retire. Of course I have a little more in my budget than $750 for a receiver. Another question I have, I got on ebay to check out pricing for the RX-V2700, and saw pricing as low as $1050, as opposed to the msrp on the Yamaha website for the unit listed at $1699. The customer rating for the seller on ebay was rated very high, but I assume the OEM warranty does not apply. Am I right in this assumption? Has anyone had any pleasant experiences with ebay power sellers for HT electronics? I have been on some websites (Klipsch included) that warn of purchasing their products from unauthorized dealers, as they can be cheap knockoffs or stolen. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Don2dusk
