  1. Too bad your not looking to pick up anything now. The discontinued Lincoln Continental is going for about 28k in my area(N.Y.). There must be a large inventory of them around, the cars best feature is a 32 valve, 4 cam V8 rated at 275 horsepower. Definetly not a great handler but a good highway car. Joe T
  2. Colin, if its possible, try and get your hands on some tickets for Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall. Last time I was at those venues they weren't using any sound renforcement systems. Its nice to hear music not pumped through any kind of sound system. You can also try Saint Ignatius church on Park Avenue and 84th. street, there's an incredible organ there. Joe T
  3. NOS440, have about .5 inches clearance between top of the 7591's and top cover. None of the 7591's are rubbing against any other component (plenty of room) except one of them is a tight fit and that 7591 has about .25 inches clearance between it and the power x'former. I was worried about that, but once I normalized the rectifier circuit (removed 2 diodes and installed the 5AR4 rectifier tube) the unit runs alot cooler, but I'll keep an eye on it. I haven't done any serious listening yet, it's pushing a pair of Klipsch KSB 1.1's right now, just want to put some hours on it before I try it with my Cornwalls. One thing that stands out, its very quiet as far as background noise goes, no hum. Joe T
  4. No problem, it should be here in a week or so. By the way picked up a Sovtek 5AR4 and a matched quad set of Electro Harmonix 7591 output tubes, from Triode Electronics, for the EICO ST-40. The new tubes worked out well. Joe T
  5. NOS440, that would be me. Just had to get my hands on one of these! Joe T
  6. NOS440, the ST40 uses a GZ34 rectifier tube according to what info. I've found online at http://users.rcn.com/fiddler.interport/eico.htm This is a good site, schematics are available for downloading for numerous EICO products. I'm just getting into the tube thing, so I have alot to learn. Wondering if the the 5AR4 is interchangeable with the GZ34, from what I've seen so far I think they may be the same tube, but not sure? I've read that the rectifier tubes, depending on quality, do effect the sound. By the way the tube in the ST40 I have has no markings on it. Joe T.
  7. Thanks, for the recommendations. Recently aquired a EICO ST 40 and the rectifier tube is defective. Someone installed 2 diodes in the power supply circuit as a modification, in effect the diodes are used for rectification in place of the defective tube rectifier. I'm going to remove the diodes and install a working rectifier tube. Joe T.
  8. Can anyone recommend a reputable online tube dealer, I'm looking for a GZ34 rectifier. Thanks. Joe T.

    hdcd

boa12, don't know if this will help, hdcd encoded discs will play on any cd player, you just won't have the "benefit" of the hdcd feature. Joe T.

    hdcd

I forgot to mention: pick out some titles from the hdcd websites music catalog and try your local music retailer you'll probally have some luck that way. If your into Greenday pick up Nimrod it's hdcd encoded and should be readily avaiable. As I mentioned earlier there are numerous titles available. Joe T.

    hdcd

marksdad, go to www.hdcd.com the music catalog section. This section will give you an idea on how many titles are available, there are lots of titles avaiable. The website also has plenty of info. on the format. There are a couple of replys on your earlier posts on the hdcd subject also. Joe T.

    hdcd's again

marksdad, try www.hdcd.com, you can see what's available there in the music catalog section. You also can try doing a search using hdcd as keyword, at the usual online outlets, amazon.com etc... There are alot of titles available. Joe T.
  13. Thanks for the quick reply Mobile. I have been looking into HH Scott and EICO, especially the HF81 (I wonder why). While browsing on ebay, I came across a Fisher X202-B, the seller mentioned something about a center channel switch, which peaked my curiosity. I would like to try a 3 channel (Trifield?) setup just for fun. Definitely want to get my Cornwalls fed right, so time to try some tubes.

    classic center

dwlnga, the KSC-C1 has a 90 x 40 degree Tractrix horn, while the SC-1 has a 90 x 60 degree Tractrix horn and uses the same driver same as the SF-2. Therefore, the SC-1 would be the proper mathcing center. The SC-1 center is timbre matched and will provide a seamless blend of sound across your front speaker array. Joe T.
  15. Go to www.dovebid.com if you want to check out an auction of Enron stuff. They have some JBL pro stuff among other things.
  16. Anyone know of a online source of information for Fisher tube equipment? In particular tube integrated amps. I'm looking for specs. and features and have had no luck. Thanks in advance. Joe T.
  17. For some strange reason he reminds me of James Carville. Joe T.

    Heresy ?

Looks like the seller ended the auction early. Oh well. Joe T.

    Heresy ?

Thanks for solving the mystery guys. Those Heresy's look like a rare find. $50.00 shipping including insurance anywhere in the US is tempting. Justin try dropping ebay customer service an email, to see whats up with your credit card problem. Joe T.
  20. Has anyone ever seen this particular code or can anyone decipher it: H ZL SRB? I came across these Heresy's on ebay item# 1381713341, they look pretty interesting. I don't have any plans to bid on them just curious. Thanks. Joe T.
  21. My sincere condolences to the Klipsch family on the loss of a great man. Paul Klipsch's legend will live on in the quality audio products he produced and the lives he touched. Joe T.
  22. I have 1981 Cornwall 1's, serial numbers 29W130 & 131, they have Type B crossover networks. Hope this helps. JJT This message has been edited by JJT on 01-18-2002 at 05:10 PM
  23. Daryl, I remember Bob G mentioning the SC-1 is a significant improvement over the KSCC1. I haven't heard both of them in the same room at the same time. You can get an idea of what the KSCC1's are going for, theres a bunch of them on ebay, you could dump yours and offset the cost of the SC-1. If it sounds good enough for ya now, thats all that matters. Joe T
  24. Daryl, the SC-1 is the matching center for the SB-3's. It is timbre mathced for your mains. The KSCC1 is timbre matched for the last Synergy Series models ex: KSB3.1's which have been discontinued. Definetly go with the SC-1. Joe T.
  25. Great idea! Add Brooklyn N.Y. to the list, if anyone in the area is interested in checking out Cornwall 1's and Heresy 1's. Joe T.
