  1. Ms. Valerie, Peace, Comfort, Healing. And you'll be back home in no time. Looking forward to hearing the good news.
  2. What a voice.... Listening to her album "take a look" now. RIP
  3. When I put the K402 on top of my Lascala, I was awed and amazed and thought it just could not get any better. When I replaced the Lascala with the Jubilee bass bin I realized my search for better speakers was over. It was that phenomenal. So, pursue at your own rate. For me, the bass bins completed the sound stage with force and power.
  4. I second Frank Mufich. A buddy of mine always has his equipment upgraded using him. Work has been great.
  5. Looks real nice. I think you were very successful. Do you notice any frequency generated vibrations?
  6. I just had to bump this thread for those not too familiar. I ran across this looking for something else.
  7. Looking up CDs on Amazon, I ran across this. Is this becoming more and more common or are the artists selecting Amazon as the producer of the CDs?it would seem a real money maker for Amazon as cases, blanks and a color printer is all you need to make a CD that may sell for $10+. Piece Of Your Soul by STORYVILLE This product is manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.
  8. Always looking. I have a bunch. These guys were a huge surprise. I almost did not pick it up due to the Dr. Wu name. It just did not seem to match the blues title. These guys do it right. Their live DVD is great too.
  9. Ran across these guys recently. The Official Home of the Texas Blues Project | Dr. Wu www.texasblues.org I have two of their CDs. Pretty darn good. "An EveningWith Dr. Wu and friends" and Texas Blues Project Volume 2"
  10. Good price. I have a pair and I do not use them enough either. But when I do, wow. Amazing sound and great noise isolation with a great seal. Good luck with your sale. I gave $ 505 for mine. 3 drivers really make a difference.
  11. Animistic 1 DVD Animusic 2 DVD Animistic 3 DVD is in the works now for a while. They both are very enjoyable. I have loaned these out sooo many times. Amazon sells them.
  12. My favorite cartoon ever. Thanks for posting.
  13. I thought the JubScala was wonderful and it truly was. I moved up to the K402 on a Jubilee bass bin clone. Low power listening was great with both, but the huge room filling sound of the Jubilee just overshadows the JubScala. If there had not been a pair of Jubilees in the area I would still have been a very happy camper with the JubScalas.
  14. Thebes, What you said irritated me like chaffing in my shorts. Not that it was you, just the comments. Could have been said by anyone. Sorry about the mental picture. So, I had to prove it. After struggling with my long ago Trigonometric skills I realized I probably do not have enough information. Short for I am in over my head and I can't figure it out. So, I pondered. I took my digital scale and placing it on the turntable raising the arm about 5-15 degrees higher than the record angle would be, I measured 1.42 gms. I was shooting for an alignment of 1.5 grams initially, so I'll adjust for that later. Removing the platter, and then placing the scale under the stylus, I realized the scale would be at virtually the same height as the top of the record when it is on the turntable, so the stylus angle would be very very close to the proper angle. My measurement was 1.21 grams. Thats a big difference. So, Thebes thanks for your input to this thread. You are the reason my chaffing is gone. I hope this helps others when using a digital scale.
  15. 1) Lonnie Brooks, Long John Hunter, Phillip Walker and Special Guest Ervin Charles "Lone-Star Shootout" Alligator Records, ALCD-4866 2) Don Ray and the Blues Terminators "Live", Recorded at Lang Productions Studio, Burleson, Texas, DR-2710
  16. Usually, I do not mind the fire crackling sounds from a scratched record, as long as it is not excessive. I DO mind how the how album cover images are shrunk so much that their cover art becomes lost and the colors subdued. Sometimes, the album is bought just to hang it on the wall. I also need a magnafying glass to read the liner notes on the CD inserts.
  17. You have helped already. I found a Keely Smith yesterday along with a Lena Horne Have not taken them for a spin yet. Thanks all.
  18. I began to really listen with interest to jazz about 8 years ago. And have really enjoyed the 70s and up releases. I recently ran across a mono DECCA of Ella Fitzgerald "Sweet an Hot". Great music, Came out in 1955. Next was a Julie London "Send For Me". Wow, she could sing to me anytime. There were a few others that I cannot seem to remember, but very few. These Ladies were of the 40, 50 and early 60s. But I know there must have been many more. Would the Jazz lovers in the forum add female jazz singer names to this list, primarily from that era? So when I see them for a buck somewhere, I'll know to take them home for a spin. I am not looking for any research done for this question, but if a name comes to mind, then please take a moment to add it to this thread. There is so much about the lady jazz singers that I do not know, but want to know and hear. Thanks. Wrinkles
  19. Guys, if you want one, then look at this one. It works great. http://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Scales-ACP-200-Digital/dp/B003STEIYY I set up my daughter's turntable over last Christmas with the old trusty Shure balance model at 1.25 gms. or as close as I could eyeball it using that model's scale lines on the balance beam. I then used the ACP-200 ($14.95)to check the Shure model and it was 0.02 gms off from what the Shure model set it up to be. The digital scale placed the cartridge about 1/2 inch higher than the Shure had it. As both are accurate, the 1/2 inch did not make really any difference. The ACP-200 accuracy is ± 0.02 gms. The Shure accuracy is up to your eyeball accuracy. The ACP-200 accuracy, if questioned, can be calibrated using two 100 gm. weights at $5.22 each: http://www.amazon.com/American-Weigh-Scales-100WGT-Calibration/dp/B002SVUBYE/ref=pd_sim_k_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0XAAJCKA8VRBENRAR4AT The top of the APC-200 is a slippery brushed stainless steel metal, so I placed a small piece of a broken 78 rpm record on it, zeroed out that weight using the button on the APC-200 so it read 0.00 grams with that piece of broken record on it. Pacing the needle in the record groove keeps the cartridge from sliding off the edge of the scale due to anti-skating forces. It works well for me, but as it turns out, the Shure model would have been enough. I gave the Shure model to my daughter for her future cartridge replacements if desired. For its simplicity and cost, it is hard to beat. While typing this, I pulled the scale out for the first time since I used it last Christmas, placed a 100 gm weight on it and it read 99.94 gms. I put the scale in calibration mode and calibrated it in 30 seconds. Now, placing the 100 gm. weight back on it, it reads 100.01 gms which is within its stated expected accuracy. Enjoy. Other than owning this scale and calibration weights, I have no affiliatin with the company that makes or sells this product.
  20. That is interesting. Klipsch LaScala and Dalquist DQ-10s in the same photo. From low power needs to mega power needs. Kinda reminds me of my own journey. LaScalas are the better choice.
  21. I think that you should have stayed for the whole wedding, at least the ceremony. Did you make it down the aisle or did you actually leave while giving her away? Listening to live music for audio quality is really limited to orchastra music and accoustic performances. Otherwise, you are listening to a processed signal through speakers, and in almost every case, you have better equipment in your living room (especially with the speakers that you have). How about this, does the hair stand up on the back of your neck when you listed to a well recorded recording? probably a better test of your enjoymnet of the system.
  22. Thanks to ALL for your input and wisdom. Answers: 1.The group was amplified. 2.I have no CDs from this group. 3.I only had two beers. 4. Club was dark, so no idea of the equipment, but all had microphones. 5. Room was kinda like a half circle with the flat edge at the glass wall. 6. This club has regular performances of different bands and is well known in Manhattan, so the sound system system must have pretty decent. I appreciate ya'll. Mike
