  1. Get a Hercules Game Theatre XP, not an SBLive! 5.1. The GTXP is better. Anyways, if you want dolby digital and DTS, there is this one piece of software coming out called WinDVD 3.0 As soon as it comes out, BUY IT. it does both, in software, and has AWESOME picture quality. The 5.1 will work great with your system. Oh, what DVD's do you have? ------------------ "Feh."
  2. The $20 headphones are the Koss KSC-50's Their sound is about equal to the Koss KSC-35's. Both are at Koss's website, and you can find one or the other at, say, Circuit City or Best Buy. They are REALLY nice, better than a lot of Koss's more expensive headphones. ------------------ "Feh."
  3. Yea, Viv, hiya. I posted it on www.avsforum.com, but I, uh, commented on Canada's educational system, and, uh, people there take jokes a little bit too seriously for my taste. And they can't laugh at jackasses. I think they're too old to be able to do that... *shudders* I think I'm only going to that forum when I *have* to... ------------------ "Feh."
  4. Ah yes, here are some more, older, also funny threads from him... http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/001863.html http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/001991.html ------------------ "Feh."
  5. Well, I just got in an ICQ argument with one here. It's funny. Go check it out. Nashman, is, of course, the one with the bad home theater system, the bad multimedia system, and the bad headphones... http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/002028.html ------------------ "Feh."
  6. WinDVD 3.0 is going to have software DTS decoding! Woohoo!! ------------------ "Feh."
  7. .... Oooo.... then you're going to have to shell out the dough... get an audiophile quality sound card. get a geforce 2 mx... get a reciever that does dolby digital and dts... get some home theater specific speakers... get a HDTV, or, if you don't mind a fairly small monitor, the Sony FW900 (24", widescreen, $2000) Heheh... ------------------ "Feh."
  8. I am sure SACD sounds better, but I want DVD-A to win, and I expect DVD-A to win... why? Well, the name, for one thing. Also, SACD, you need to do a bunch of wierd analog connection stuff to get the good sound... with DVD-A, you just plug your dvd player into your reciever, and boom.... or, there are dvd players that are also recievers that do DVD-A as well... Heheh. That'd be nice... Plus, DVD-A is a more universal format... ------------------ "Feh."
  9. We are assuming that you just want dvd capabilities on your computer, to be watched only by one person at a time, correct? Or, do you want a living room Home Theater setup, that has a larger sweet spot, and have a PC be the basis of the setup? ------------------ "Feh." 10. *cackles evilly* Can I have a link to a Bose forum? ------------------ "Feh."
  11. You would do well to ask these sort of questions at the Home Theater Computer section of www.avsforum.com Also, if you want to build a HTPC, you can get both an audiophile sound card AND a sblive for gaming... and I am fairly sure (not completely sure, unfortunately) that you can get EAX and A3D when going through a reciever and the like... but you might have to tweak the setup... ------------------ "Feh."
  12. No, you DON'T want a hardware DVD decoder card! But that's one HELL of a setup you got there! Btrigg, be nice! Hmmm... Lessee... if you want to upgrade THAT, you can sell the sblive and the livedrive, and get a Hercules Game Theatre XP. It comes with PowerDVD, which is a good thing... But be sure to get the 5.1's! And also, when WinDVD 3.0 comes out, get that, so you can have DTS... Hmmm. One thing that your computer is missing is headphones. IF you decide to get the Game Theatre XP (it has an AWESOME headphone jack, and sounds better than the sblive, and doesn't have as much bloatware), you may wanna get some... Go for the Grado SR-325's, at headphone.com Hmmm. I don't really see anything that you DON'T have...Wow....that's one hell of a setup... ------------------ "Feh."
  13. Yea, Computer DVD systems, unless you have a Dedicated HTPC, are generally only good for one or two people, sitting close to the monitor... I mean, if you had that 24" widescreen Sony FW900 monitor, and the Klipsch 5.1 Pro's, the sweet spot MIGHT be a bit bigger, but, still, compared to what you could get for that amount of money if you got a dedicated home theater, it would still be small... ------------------ "Feh."
  14. Hmmmm? Klipsch make some of the best rock/home theater speakers out there... But only if you like the Klipsch sound... The Promedias give you a taste of it, but Klipsch HT stuff has WAY tighter bass than the Pro's... Hey! Since I dont HAVE big Klipsch speakers, could, uh, someone describe, in a LOT of detail, the basic Klipsch sound? If you're thinking of getting a home theater, be forwarned that basically everyone on all of these forums is biased towards the Klipsch sound (not a bad thing, though...) I would suggest you figure out what capabilities you want, your budget, what you have now, what you want to use this for, the room size, what type of sound you are looking for, and then, take this information, and go and ask on www.avsforum.com ------------------ "Feh."
  15. Hey, it happened with the 4.1's. I'm pretty sure that there is a perfectly reasonable psychological explanation for this. I just don't know what it is... Hehe... ------------------ "Feh."
  16. Heh. If I wanted a home theater system, I'd have to sacrafice EAX, correct? Even with a Philips Acoustic Edge or a Game Theatre XP, right? ------------------ "Feh."
  17. Erm, guys, I've been looking all around this website for that press release....haven't found it... and what about dolby digital 5.1 and dts?!?! ------------------ "Feh."
  18. Heheh. Ask at www.avsforum.com Heheh... you will get *soooo* many answers... ------------------ "Feh."
  19. We lease all your base, with option to own! ------------------ "Feh."
  20. Er, I believe that you are experiencing a bug. Get the latest drivers.
  21. WOAH! The *BEST* AYB site is here! dang! This thing is HUGE! Read and stuff! http://hubert.retrogames.com/history.htm ------------------ "Feh."
  22. There is a hacked version of WinDVD out there that decodes DTS, and one which decodes DTS, but only to two speakers... Choose Dolby Digital 5.1. It's about as good. At the end of May, WinDVD is coming out with a new version, which will decode DTS. You will probably have to wait for that... Also, there are NO ways to correctly decode DVD-A's in computers yet. This help? ------------------ "Feh."
  23. ATI Radeon is good... Also, the Matrox G450 is good... ------------------ "Feh."
  24. *pause* I think this thread MIGHT be more appropriate on the general questions forum, where there are more people who specifically like the Klipsch sound, I think... Admin, couldja move it there? please? ------------------ "Feh."
  25. Can we get back on topic? Anyways, I'm sure that, especially paired with a good amp (you know, say...The Grado RA-1?), the SR-325's will be equal in quality to some of those high end home Theater Klipsch speakers... And plus, that combo is CHEAP...if you LIKE the Klipsch type sound, this is a cheap, good way to get it completely portably...as in, it's all battery powered... You know, gimme your responses to what I've said...lets get back on topic. Mkay? ------------------ "Feh."
