  1. Well, if you LIKE bright, detailed treble, a Very forward soundstage, slightly exaggerated, but NOT BOOMY AND VERY TIGHT AND VERY DETAILED bass in your music, then you'll like Grados and Klipsch speakers, right? Also, Grado's are only harsh if you have a low end one connected to a low quality portable...they can still be driven by a portable, they're made to, but that's the only case where they may have harsh highs. ...Basically the SR-325's are roughly equal to the Sennheiser 580's...even better, especially for Rock and most related genres... Also, unlike Senn's, Grado's don't need an amp...they still benefit from them, though (by losing the last remote possibility of "harsh" highs, which is pretty remote anyways, especially the higher up the Grado line you go...) Basically, I'm saying that both have the same basic *type* of sound, which I was under the impression that you all LIKED... ------------------ "Feh."
  2. Hello everyone! I'm just here to let you all know (and trust me, I know about this stuff...I've started to REALLY get into headphones and stuff ), that, if ya didn't know, there's pretty much only one company that makes headphones with the "Klipsch Sound ". That company is Grado Labs (www.gradolabs.com). HOWEVER, if you WANT to get ultra high-end Klipsch type sound, you are going to need to get at least the SR-80's (those are the highest end ones in the line that end in a 1/8th inch jack), for about $90. The best place to get that stuff is probably headphone.com. Also, if ya wanna make em more comfy and have louder bass, get the Radioshack 33-377 pads. Just tryyyyyin to educate you all... And oh, if ya want kinda worse headphones that block out sound and stuff, get the Sony MDR-V6's... ------------------ "Feh."
  3. For the sblive 5.1 you need a special adapter that hoontech (sp) makes, because the voltages are all wierd and could fry your reciever.
  4. Tsk tsk Ray.... edit that post before you embarrass yourself... heheheheh... ------------------ "Feh."
  5. HAVEN'T YOU BEEN LISTENING?!?! The guy at www.r3mix.net *USED* an over-the-top sound system to TEST the difference between mp3's and CD's! Do you know what he used? He used a $15,000 headphone system, the best in the world, the Sennheiser Orpheus, which is ROUGHLY EQUAL IN QUALITY TO A $100,000 SPEAKER SYSTEM. If you DO the stuff he says, follow his methods in ripping, encoding, and playing (well, actually, he gives a link to the place that has the best mp3 software players...), you can get cd-quality mp3's! It's tough, but it's possible... ------------------ "Feh."
  6. The BEST places to buy the Sony MDR-V6 are: www.jandr.com www.djmart.com ------------------ "Feh."
  7. There is one website that basically tells you EVERYTHING about all of the best MP3 Rippers, encoders, decoders, everything. Except the Myths section sucks, but anyways...everything else is good. www.r3mix.net ------------------ "Feh."
  8. *sigh* The Sony MDR-V600 was supposed to replace the MDR-V6, but the V6 is so good, and the V600 so bad, that the replacement thingy didn't work out... Basically the MDR-V6 and the MDR-7506 are the EXACT SAME HEADPHONES. They just look a little different. The 7506 is supposedly the "professional" version, but they're the same, 'cept for looks, and the fact that the 7506 ends in a gold-plated plug. Hope this helps!! ------------------ "Feh."
  9. NOOOOOO!!!! Take the Aiwas back... And go buy either the Koss Sporta Pro's for $30, the Grado SR-60's for $60, or the Sony MDR-V6 for $60... If ya want good cheap closed, get the Sony MDR-V6's... ------------------ "Feh."
  10. Hey, go to www.avsforum.com if you wanna know about the stuff that's more specialist (ie, you're not using this HTPC for anything else) oriented. I'm talking about other soundcards (like the 2496, and better), way bigger HDTV's to connect to your PC, digital audio recievers and speaker systems to use...stuff like that. Oh, and DONT GET THAT VOODOO TV TUNER!! There's this one tv tuner that gets normal tv, hdtv, fm radio, and acts like a Tivo...and there's also other cheap tv tuners that are just plain better than the voodoo one... Unfortunately, I don't know specifics, which is why I posted the link to avsforum. ------------------ "Feh."
  11. Okay, the only good, low-end headphones that I can honestly suggest are: The Koss Sportapros The Koss KSC-35's The Sennheiser MX500 (these are $20 earbuds) Okay? ------------------ "Feh."
  12. I was under the impression that all you needed for this is the Philips Acoustic Edge and the Videologic Digitheatre DTS... The AE comes with the latest version of WinDVD, which will output the undecoded DTS signal to the Digitheatre, which will then decode it with it's own decoder box, right? And I'm pretty sure you can play EAX and A3D with this card and these speakers. Of course, WinDVD will naturally decode DD5.1 Is this right? ------------------ "Feh."
  13. You know, you can edit your posts... Rest your mouse over those icons above your post...click on the one that says edit.
  14. the 24" FW900 is the best computer monitor in existence. http://www.neoseeker.com/Hardware/Products/Sony_FW900/index.html ------------------ "Feh."

  16. In the corner, hole facing the corner of the room. Not sure how far away you should put the hole from the wall, or on what surface it is best to put it on. Sorry. ------------------ "Feh."
  17. Heheh. For all your base stuff, go to http://www.thefever.com/AYB2.swf and go to http://www.nulldevice.net/images/zerowing.mov heheh... ------------------ "Feh."
  18. Uh, Sony Trinitron monitors are the highest quality computer monitors in existence. ------------------ "Feh."
  19. Um, you all, Why aren't you taking into account the fact that Sony Trinitron monitors are the, uh, highest quality computer monitors in existence? 'Cause it's true...look at their 24" ------------------ "Feh."
  20. Okay, Grado's are AS FAR FROM CLOSED AS IT IS POSSIBLE TO GET. Also, You named two really good closed headphones. However, Koss has replaced the R100 with the R200. You also may want to consider the Beyerdynamic DT250-80. But, if you want a set of closed headphones that works great and sounds good on anything, you should really go with the Sony V6. Trust me. Most Sennheiser headphones are open. And most Sony headphones suck, with a few REALLY REALLY good diamonds in the rough. ------------------ "Feh."
  21. It's out at the Klipsch site... I dunno about waranties. but DEFINITELY get the 4.1's!!
  22. YAY! I have a fan club! WOOHOO!!! ------------------ "Feh."
  23. Okay, the bass problems are all BUGS. It isn't supposed to have bass problems, but, unfortunately, it often does... However, there are a bunch of people who have had no problems whatsoever. If you have win98, I'd suggest getting the AE. ------------------ "Feh."
  24. Okay, um, since it's only gonna be for you, you might just want to get the 4.1's and be done with it...this is the most versatile gaming/dvd setup for a single person that can place speakers near them. However, if you want to turn your computer (i don't know why...with those specs...perfect for gaming) into a system that's GREAT at mp3's, cd's, and DVD's, but doesn't have positional audio for games, you may want to consider a professional sound card, such as the audiophile 2496, and connecting it to a reciever (i dunno what; check out www.hometheaterforum.com and www.avsforum.com ), and connecting it to a set of speakers that's better than the Quintets, such as, say, Definitive Technology's ProCinema 80's. You can also just get the 4.1 pro's, keep your sound card, get the Audiophile 2496, install BOTH sound cards, and switch between them for games and DVD's. BUT GO TO THOSE FORUMS I SUGGESTED IF YOU WANNA MAKE A HTPC (Home Theater PC)! ------------------ "Feh."
  25. It's a bug that you're talking about. No one really knows the reason, however there's a gazillion theories everywhere...search the forums... ------------------ "Feh."
