  1. Priceless..... for the rest, there's MasterCard. I think Bob only takes paypal or cash . Well thats quite the conundrum.
  2. What does "just about everything entail?" Being home for winter break I don't have much to do, might as well go check them out.
  3. So I guess this thread can be summed up as, just wait. I waited about 18 hours or so with the speakers that I got from Groomslake sitting in the heater room in our basement. Very similar conditions to what he had down in Florida, and then took them up to where they now reside and let them sit in the boxes for a few more hours yet. I know its exciting to rip them open and get on it but just hold off. Hey looking back at your post its been almost a week, they better be playing by now, haha.
  4. Hows that helpful???[^o)] I'd say that obviously it will get better with a good sub. I have the "little KSW10" and I like the performance that I'm getting out of it now and don't have any plans on switching it out, aside from the fact that it's because of financial issues, haha. Why wouldn't the performance get better? A "better" sub will play lower and flatter (likely) so it has potential to be even more musical than the current set up. Or if you like it then stick with and enjoy.
  5. I say it should be plenty. I occasionally used them for movies with a 50w Denon stereo receiver coming out of the TV speaker out (not quite line level) and it was plenty. Enjoy them and let us know if you have anything else.
  6. I just sold my set of SF-1s I had pair of the SB-3s for about two days and then went back to where I bought them and upgraded to the towers. The bass extension is much better. They maybe don't have quite the "punch" in the mid range of the bookshelves, but I'm trying to remember back nearly five years. Either way you will be pleased with them up front given some good amplification. And worse case scenario you can put them back behind the couch and experiement with which you like more. But regardless you will be pleased over the speakers you have now.
  7. My son put a pair of Bob's tweeters in his Heresies, and it prompted me to put a set in my LaScalas. A very nice improvement. Bruce Bruce, Could you describe the difference whether sound impact or whatever else. And did this require any recapping once completed? Thanks
  8. Thats just disgusting. Almost as bad as the 30kHz horns. People have to wonder if you're getting a speaker system or a time machine installed.[8-|]
  9. Thanks I'm really liking the performance out of it. I'll snap some pictures pretty soon.
  10. I definitely agree with that. The walnut on the one I just got is nearly unblemished, only a small amount of glue on the top, but other than that a great looking and sounding receiver.
  11. ...Not if you do not place it in front of the door... Unless its a series of sliding doors. Then he might be position screwed.
  12. But will it the sofa on the long wall block access to the porch via the door?
  13. Take that back, got the Pre Out working. Could it be that a ground noise from the sub is coming from the receiver or could it be the less than stellar interconnects? Any thoughts?
  14. So I got it home and its a beautiful thing. The guy I bougtht it from was the original owner and he definitely took care of it. Sounds as good as anything I've heard in recent memory. The case is beautiful, just got all the pots and such cleaned last year. Very little noise when switching source and what not. No bulbs burnt out or anything. I feel like I got pretty lucky. Only problem is I couldn't plug my sub into the pre out, for some reason it kinda popped when I did (sub turned way down no worries) so I guess it'll be through the B speakers that I'll run it.
  15. Could you move all of the desks and bookshelf towards the back of the room about three feet or so? Just from looking at your drawing it wouldn't be too hard to move them, as only the computer requires power and its little more than a small extension cord or a new power strip with a longer cord. I'll echo the sentiment of no sub behind or to the side of you. It just sounds too disconnected from the rest of the system. Just from looking at the drawing though it would be the best location. What sub are you thinking of going with?
