  1. Priceless..... for the rest, there's MasterCard. I think Bob only takes paypal or cash . Well thats quite the conundrum.
  2. What does "just about everything entail?" Being home for winter break I don't have much to do, might as well go check them out.
  3. So I guess this thread can be summed up as, just wait. I waited about 18 hours or so with the speakers that I got from Groomslake sitting in the heater room in our basement. Very similar conditions to what he had down in Florida, and then took them up to where they now reside and let them sit in the boxes for a few more hours yet. I know its exciting to rip them open and get on it but just hold off. Hey looking back at your post its been almost a week, they better be playing by now, haha.
  4. Hows that helpful???[^o)] I'd say that obviously it will get better with a good sub. I have the "little KSW10" and I like the performance that I'm getting out of it now and don't have any plans on switching it out, aside from the fact that it's because of financial issues, haha. Why wouldn't the performance get better? A "better" sub will play lower and flatter (likely) so it has potential to be even more musical than the current set up. Or if you like it then stick with and enjoy.
  5. I say it should be plenty. I occasionally used them for movies with a 50w Denon stereo receiver coming out of the TV speaker out (not quite line level) and it was plenty. Enjoy them and let us know if you have anything else.
  6. I just sold my set of SF-1s I had pair of the SB-3s for about two days and then went back to where I bought them and upgraded to the towers. The bass extension is much better. They maybe don't have quite the "punch" in the mid range of the bookshelves, but I'm trying to remember back nearly five years. Either way you will be pleased with them up front given some good amplification. And worse case scenario you can put them back behind the couch and experiement with which you like more. But regardless you will be pleased over the speakers you have now.
  7. My son put a pair of Bob's tweeters in his Heresies, and it prompted me to put a set in my LaScalas. A very nice improvement. Bruce Bruce, Could you describe the difference whether sound impact or whatever else. And did this require any recapping once completed? Thanks
  8. Thats just disgusting. Almost as bad as the 30kHz horns. People have to wonder if you're getting a speaker system or a time machine installed.[8-|]
  9. Thanks I'm really liking the performance out of it. I'll snap some pictures pretty soon.
  10. I definitely agree with that. The walnut on the one I just got is nearly unblemished, only a small amount of glue on the top, but other than that a great looking and sounding receiver.
  11. ...Not if you do not place it in front of the door... Unless its a series of sliding doors. Then he might be position screwed.
  12. But will it the sofa on the long wall block access to the porch via the door?
  13. Take that back, got the Pre Out working. Could it be that a ground noise from the sub is coming from the receiver or could it be the less than stellar interconnects? Any thoughts?
  14. So I got it home and its a beautiful thing. The guy I bougtht it from was the original owner and he definitely took care of it. Sounds as good as anything I've heard in recent memory. The case is beautiful, just got all the pots and such cleaned last year. Very little noise when switching source and what not. No bulbs burnt out or anything. I feel like I got pretty lucky. Only problem is I couldn't plug my sub into the pre out, for some reason it kinda popped when I did (sub turned way down no worries) so I guess it'll be through the B speakers that I'll run it.
  15. Could you move all of the desks and bookshelf towards the back of the room about three feet or so? Just from looking at your drawing it wouldn't be too hard to move them, as only the computer requires power and its little more than a small extension cord or a new power strip with a longer cord. I'll echo the sentiment of no sub behind or to the side of you. It just sounds too disconnected from the rest of the system. Just from looking at the drawing though it would be the best location. What sub are you thinking of going with?
  16. They are definitely vibrant thats for sure. IMO something only that a mother, or in this case a father, could love. But best of luck with the surgery hope thatit works out well. Though there is always the option of tinkering around and see if you can find some upgrades that will replicate the sound that your LS's had. JAT.
  17. Cool, well as long as there are no big sentiments against it. It sealed the deal for me after he said he got it cleaned last year after saying the pots were scratchy on volume changes. Going to pick it up Sunday night after I get back to school. Thoughts to come then.
  18. Split shipping? LOL Consider it done !!!!!! .......................... You will like it I'm sure .................... Did you see that Scott 222 in Garage Sale ?????? No, I did not. Link?
  19. Is there any way to clean up the walnut on the case? Is it oiled or what's the process behind that. And I bought it for $80 pending a listen from me when I get back to MI.
  20. So I have them hooked up and listening to them right now. Wow these are amazing speakers. Granted they are at home on my dad's older receiver (some Pioneer, nothing stupendous) running the Ipod through a dock and into a dirty pair of inputs and wow I'm amazed. The music just has so much more dynamics to it, even at whisper like volumes it's so easy to decipher the different sounds. My old speakers it was muddled into you cranked them a little and then they kinda shone. I haven't really given them a workout yet. I'll save that for when I get home and pop in some CDs with them hooked up to my normal receiver with the subwoofer attached. As of now though I have no complaints whatsoever. After my old speakers either they don't seem as "colored" as everyone said, maybe its just that I'm used to the decisive high end. Thanks all for the responses.
  21. What is everyone's thoughts on this receiver? I have the option to pick one up for pretty cheap so I'm wondering what peoples experiences and such are with it. I'm going to be running it with Heresy I's. Thanks, Luke
  22. Sorry some of these are pretty scratchy. The quality once it gets dark starts diminishing pretty quickly. Pretty self explanatory View from our seats (sold out in 15 mins.) Bill Murray doing his best rendition of "Gloria" The crowd helped out with this, and then Mr. Clapton came out and finished for him. Left side of stage. Sonny Landreth on the Jumbotron or whatever the correct term is. In between sets. Mr. John McLaughlin Close up of John McLaughlin Doyle Bramhall II They were absolutely amazing, and the drummer on the right is seen again when he plays with John Mayer The Derek Trucks band. Derek Trucks and his wife. She had an amazing voice and rocked just as hard as anyone there. Robert Randolph and the Family Band. They played with just tons of energy. Jimmy Vaughn Jimmy Vaughn and Hubert Sumlin (top hat and blue picnic shirt) John Mayer, say what you want but the "puffy haired kid from Conneticut" can flat out cook on guitar. Vince Gill and too many other people on stage. This one is pretty simple. Beer. Vince Gill and Sheryl Crow Los Lobos. The guy in the blue looks like a math teacher not a rock star, but they brought a cool element to the concert with some of their songs in Spanish. Jeff Beck and Tal Wilkenfield Horrible picture of Jeff Beck from the concession stand. Nightfall in Bridgeview Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall, Mr. Clapton and the rest of the Eric Clapton Band. I might have been just as hazy as this point *disclaimer* not smoking, just ten dollar beers. Buddy Guy and his band. The End. Go buy the DVD and check it out yourself.
  23. Okay I'll be posting some of the pictures I took shortly, as per some requests. These really aren't all that great but they're something, I guess if anyone went it would definitely remind you of the day. The really good shots were done with a old school 35mm, so I'll get those at some point.
  24. Sounds fine to me. I will be driving to the Big Puddle (pinky knucle) on US31. That road and the dogleg over to Grand Rapids can be a slick, ugly bear of a drive. I'm right off of US31 in Holland. Remember the driver three years ago (2004). That was to be light the worst day of travel in my life. A trip that usually takes 2 hour and 45 minutes took 9 hours through the snow and everything.
