In order to separate the contrived from the truth, here are the facts:

I've also not seen anything stating where those refs have been removed from working games for the remainder of the season.  They've been eliminated from working the playoffs, which is reserved for only the highest rated teams.  I'm not defending the refs -- they botched the tripping penalty which would've rendered everything else moot had they made the correct call there.

    NFL

Whenever an offensive lineman checks in as eligible, the refs have to notify the defense.  That is the purpose for the notification.  Assuming the refs messed up (contrary to their claim) and did get the wrong player checking in as eligible -- they would've notified the defense that #70 was checking in as an eligible receiver.  Dallas wasn't expecting #68 to be catching a pass so they didn't have to cover him.  Had Dallas been notified that #68 was eligible, none of us know if they would've covered him.  However, it would be correct to say that if every call went against Dallas, then Detroit wins the game.  If the correct calls were made throughout, then not so much as I explained previously.

What is odd though is why the Lions sent three different offensive lineman towards the refs. Theories have been stated that they were trying to confuse the Cowboys but confused the refs instead to their own (possible) detriment.  The Lions should know the refs are going to notify the defense which player has checked in to be eligible.

As for Jerry Jones, I can't say I've always been pleased with the way he runs the team, but all owners recognize that he, more than anyone else, is most responsible for the huge amount of money that the NFL is raking in.  Its the main reason he's in the Hall-of-Fame.  Jerry has grown up over the years and he's a lot easier to like now.  From a football perspective, winning has always been the most important to him and you can't say that about every NFL owner.

can the Cowboys win a SB  against the best team in the NFL  ?   no

Looks like you've edited your post stating the Cowboys can't beat the Lions.  Good to see I've convinced you otherwise.

Of course the Cowboys can beat the best team in the league!  Will they -- we'll have to see.  Who knows, maybe it's them!  On any given Sunday, any NFL team can beat any other NFL team.  No team has zero losses.

    NFL

And yes, the Cowboys are fully capable of beating the Lions -- they've already done so once this season.

Just to set the record straight on the CowBOYS / Lions game, the Refs had multiple errors (as usual).  Linked below is the complete commentary from Adam Schefter where he brings up the erroneous tripping penalty that was called against the CowBOYS when it should've been been called against the Lions (somehow that portion was left out of the other link posted above).  This was the drive just prior to the Lions scoring their final TD.  The CowBOYS were penalized 15 yards instead of 15 yards being added to their run.  Get that call correct, and the two-point conversion attempt never happens.

"The latest controversy surrounding referee Brad Allen and his officiating crew -- involving an overturned 2-point conversion by the Lions -- may have been avoided if not for another missed call on the Cowboys' previous possession. The Cowboys owned a 17-13 lead when they intercepted Jared Goff at the Lions 29-yard line with with 2:05 remaining. Tony Pollard's 7-yard run on the ensuing play was called back after Dallas tight end Peyton Hendershot was called for tripping, setting the Cowboys up with a 1st and 25 on the Lions 44-yard line. Video of that initial first-down play, reviewed by ESPN, showed that Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson -- not Hendershot -- should have been the one flagged for attempting to trip Pollard. The NFL has not commented on the tripping call mistake as of Sunday morning." -- Adam Schefter

As far as referee favoritism towards the CowBOYS, that couldn't be more incorrect as they've been the most penalized team in the league for most of the season.  In fact, one of the most egregious referee issues that has been discussed for several weeks, including during Saturday's game, is that Micah Parsons, one of the most dominant players, has not drawn a single holding penalty in over 10 games.  This is despite numerous video evidence of downright flagrant holding against him.

  1. Gotcha -- I'd say if you have to stick your head inside the 402, you're going to get that from most systems.  Not being able to hear that noise from your listening position should be the key part.

I do love how my 2A3 SET sounds, but am wondering if either the J2 or F8 will hopefully retaining most of the SET presentation, while lowering the noise floor and adding that last bit of detail and resolution?

I had Triode Lab 2A3 SET Monos and they were absolutely not noisy.  Check to see if they need attention or if the noise is coming from somewhere else.

  3. Order here by placing a pledge: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/loveinjectionnyc/the-dope-from-hope-book

Should cost $80 with shipping to the U.S.

P.S.  I've got my pledge (pre-order) in.  I hope this happens as I would really like to have all the Dope from Hope articles and having them in a nice book is much better than the handful of PDF copies I already have.  $80 is a no-brainer for how much many of us spend on this stuff!

  4. A bit late in replying, but I've not used the SIT-3 with inefficient or demanding speakers.  I don't really have any of those.  With efficient Klipsch speakers, getting to live concert/reference levels isn't a problem.

  5. The model "KDFR" stands for Klipschorn -- D-Style (decorator), with a finish of Fir Raw (unfinished).  Basically the finish is just raw plywood, not even birch.  I don't have the SN decoder handy, but the "E" in the serial number will indicate the year it was made.

Based on all of the above, and the condition they are in, even with today's inflated prices, I'd estimate their value at about $1200.  If someone offered $1000, I'd take it.  This is probably not what you wanted to hear, but we're all just trying to help you establish what you would likely be able to sell them for.

  6. It's been a while now but I picked up a First Watt SIT-3 amp.  I haven't had a whole lot of free time to listen but have had sufficient time to believe this is unquestionably the best solid-state amp I've ever owned.  In fact, I'm really having trouble differentiating the sound from the other tube amps that I own.  I certainly need to spend more time listening and comparing them, but I could absolutely live with any of them as my only amp.  The SIT-3 seems to only be at it's best when connected to a certain pre-amp that I have that has a higher output level than the others.  But when it is with that particular pre-amp it sounds wonderful.

  7. The Classé Audio Model Seventy was my very first Classé Audio power amplifier I had owned and is what sold me on the brand (again, not my photo nor is this of the amp I owned, but looks identical). This one has 70 watts / channel and also has both balanced and single-ended inputs.  However, I don't believe it could be bridged to mono.

  8. I just recently sold this amp.  I'm a big fan of Classé Audio power amplifiers.  They are very smooth and almost tube-like.  On the used market, the prices they sell for make them a great value and in my opinion, should be considered by folks that tend to purchase the more common "lower-grade" brands that are out there.  Ask anyone that's ever owned this brand and I think they'd agree.  The CA-100 puts out 100 watts/channel, can be bridged to mono, and accepts both balanced and single-ended inputs.
