  1. I understand from the original poster to this topic that Mr. Holt is still around, so it's never to late.......and thanks for the info......*** Garyrc wrote: "Of course, tragically, some of the worst of the Boomers are now in very powerful positions." I would tend to agree with that statement!
  2. It's been 6+ years for me, and I can feel your pain. Don't know you no doubt have friends here, to maybe find some comfort in/with. Thanks for the sharing!
  3. I come up with 4 and 1/16th or 20mm for a nice fit. Sounds interesting and easy enough, just did not want to assume too much at first. I'll try that for an experiment, and leave amp unadjusted with music I've been listeneing to recently with good bass lines. Thanks *Marvel!
  4. Interesting! Site has had 67,000+ hits! LIKE A SCHOOL SCIENCE PROJECT.
  5. I agree with Marvel... Playing any instrument (exept drums) isn't a contest. Well you can play battle of the bands or Guitar Hero on the Playstation or XBOX but that is not what it really is about. Its about sharing your musical soul. That's where it is at. Music heals mental wounds uplifts your soul if you are the player or the listener. Either way there is a level of satifaction that can be obtained. It might be fleeting, this feeling of warmth you get when you hit the right notes but you live for those experiences. I put the guitar down for 10 years. I got busy with life, family and my job but I found out that when you are bummed out or happy music is the fuel for your soul. I now wonder why I put it down so long. I realized that bending those strings makes you want more of life. Maybe that's just me but don't be discouraged if you want to pick the bass up again. Just do it! You won't be dissapointed. And remember its now how good you are but how much you can get out of it especially if you are jamming with others. A year ago I ran into a younger set of rock garage banders with some potential. That made me want to jam some. My bass mostly just sit's there ready fro me to get enthused. Playing with yourself is OK! Having a starting out band to listen to and to interact with, can really be a thrill. Music keeps me young period. Just think, they may let you play!
  6. Newbie at the forum also! Have had my Chorus 1's since early 2001. Was told at the time that I was getting a high-end product. Have always enjoyed the speakers, and am content for the moment with the bass, which to me seems really adequate. ****"ducts".....I wonder how to do that! Newbie here at forum also. Congrats. on your Chorus 1's! Have had mine since early 2001, and have been satisfied with the overall performance including bass. Was told I was getting high-end equipment at the time, which has proven to be true. Have not been into speakers (yet) but are probably original. May explore X-Over upgrade. Certainly should be getting some definite bass there, unless a problem. Some good advice to be found here![C]
  7. "Boomers...Ouch!" Can't imagine what differences existed based upon (what I have garned thus far, being new here) reading the article. May have been the "measurement" discussion, purist debate that may have occasioned the times. Certainly Mr. Holt reads like,no mincing of words.
  8. knew I was forgetting something....On PBS station (some?) showing the Clapton/Chicago/Beck gig started at 8:00 EST! Just now! C-Band satellite probably has a raw feed too! Sorry about that!
  9. Look good! If we keep going green like this, it's bound to have an effect on our rope prices! Or, 'Up In Smoke', Cheech and Chong (fire, smoke hazard)[H]
  10. Pawn shops are a good place, sometimes. I got my short scale Univox bass there for $25. and from a friend a Peavey amp for $100. (15inch) and never looked back.[ip] Or, my GF got me a First Act at Wal-Mart 3 years ago complete w/amp for she said $200. Occassion was Christmas. Looks alot like mine and sounds decent for very lowend new. Guess she thought I needed new.[:$] Or, a 5 stringer like image above and play like Jack Bruce! [H]
  11. 60's do come to mind! Those(Animals) are fun to play also, on the bass (Fav.). Other Animals songs: *Monterey, Sky Pilot, San Francisco Nights No doubt already mentioned but, BS w/ Geezer on the bass: Any!
  12. What's Happening?!!! Was locked out! *Amy let me back in(prompt efficient service)* Thanks for not spoiling it for me. GF says she will swing by BB today! Wonder who the bass player for Beck is? Hope Jack Bruce / Baker show! Well "Rock My Plimsoul", I'm ready to rock![<)]
  13. Tour is cool enough.....music...Upstairs / Downstairs...lol.
  14. Reading today that KLH speakers were keepers w/ remark that they rarely came up for sale! Congrats!
  15. Sure enough...controversy at site...12 comments so far today. http://www.pbs.org/kcet/wiredscience/story/67-audio_files.html
  16. Alright now! Thanks for the information! 2 out of the 3 Yardbirds guitars...[8] not shabby....Beck one of my fav.![8]
  17. The analog person has the only remaining, completely analog recording studio in the U.S., if I heard correctly. Was said by digital guy that early CD repros were on the crappy side (my words). Would still prefer analog sound, recording/editing over digital as a template for music. Being dragged screaming between the older and newer tech. Would also like average non-expert listeners, in a controlled test situation, to see if they can detect the, some say more than subtle diff. Interesting show.[co][~]
  18. Oh I'll have to pass on those, I'm 3 hours above the city, and the only smart way to go is by train, that prices me out of the picture. Would be a great show, how could it not, two Superstars, TRUE Superstars, wow. Those tickets will go so fast, you'll never know they were on sale. Madison Square Garden, the greatest stage in the world, what a great place to see them ........... It won't take long for the DVD to follow, that will do me just fine ...... Can't wait for Guitar Fest. 07 ..... Nov. 20 .... *Excuse please but what is this guitar Fest. 07.....Nov. 20.... to be seen or heard? TIA!
  19. Possibly a Blind Faith tune or two...good find![8] DVD or even PBS Special...
  20. Lennon: Cold Turkey Steppenwolf: Monster (song) Chorus1's, still ringing months later from the Sirius source!
