Need help with analyzing speaker output please!

Update, I'm now running mids at -12 and tweets at -3. I'm done tweaking. No, really! -
Bass dropoff for Khorn Bin for various config's question.

I originally came up with that idea because the mids are so tall that it would have put the tweets way over my head at listening level. This way the tweets are at ear level, and those mids are adjustable, so they're pointing downward a bit. -
I'll have to remember that for next year when I play it again!

That's cool. They look great!

I think you would benefit the most by just enclosing the backs like the new K-Horns. I have mine toed out quite a bit and have as much bass as if they were in the corner. Plus it might be easier to sell when you get to that point -
I think you should sell me those decorators and build yourself a nice set of Cornscalas
-
I do with mine! I only use it about once a year, and I usually have to smack the top of the unit to get it open!

I really enjoyed the article. For someone like me who isn't an EE, this explained a lot of technical jargon in easy to understand layman's terms. Thanks

Aric Audio Systems.....Tube Pre's, Amps + Good Prices

Tube rolling is addicting when you get a quality amp that really shows off the nuances. -

Hi Dean, I started out listening to the speakers set at -12 on the mids, and then went -13, all the way up to -15, while trying to blend in the mids with the tweets. I also ran the tweets from 0 to -9. What I finally came up with is the mids at -12 and the tweets at -6. The tweets are Selenium D220ti, and are like 108 db efficiency, Everything sounds great, I'm just curious as to how it actually measures out. This is the best the K-Horns have ever sounded! -
Here's my situation--I recently upgraded my K-Horns with new mid drivers, Deang crossovers, alk tweeter attenuators. I can attenuate the mids and tweets with this setup, but now I'm getting confused as to what sounds the best. I would like advice on being able to measure the frequency response of the speakers so I can get a grip on what I'm hearing. I would like a stand alone unit if possible, but if I need a separate computer I could steal the wife's laptop. What's everyone using out there?

I've run both in my system, and haven't noticed any difference in noise. I do think the 6L6 family of tubes sound better than the EL-34.

I sold my Dragon a few years back to a friend of mine who loves all things Nakamichi, but I kept a Yamaha deck because I have a 1987 Corvette that has the original Bose cassette player. I will make driving mix tapes on occasion for the car, but I don't listen to cassettes on my home system unless I'm trying to figure out what I recorded!

Electron microscope slow-motion video of vinyl LP
kevinmi replied to MeloManiac's topic in Technical/Restorations
I was going to do that in my garage with my electron microscope. -
I think you will like having backs on them. I'm glad I enclosed mine.

I still spray with 30 year old DeVilbiss guns just because that's what I have. I do like hvlp painting, especially the elimination of so much overspray. There is a learning curve going from one format to another.
-
I definitely would go with Cornwalls or LaScalas, maybe K-Horns for that type of music. RF series is best suited for home theater use( I'll get a bunch of flack over that!)
-
The problem is if you run out of enough air pressure, your gun will start to do bad things, such as squirt a stream of paint instead of atomizing it.
-
Or you could rent an air compressor for a couple of hours pretty cheap.

So close to me. MUST....RESIST...!!!

Nice setup. Love the grills, and am glad to see some vinyl spinning going on!
