  1. Very nice, money pit is right, holy cow....by the way, what are those little skinny boxes in front of the K-horns? ha,ha are those speakers? ha,ha
  2. shoe, try the musiclinks, there around 180.00 a pair. And get rid of that receiver and get some seperates! just kidding...good luck
  3. Shoe....interconnects can improve the sound of your system. How much they improve the sound is dependent on your systems components. I have tried a few interconnects and found I like the Transparent MusicLink Plus. Putting two pair of these into my system was the single biggest upgrade I have made. The MusicLink is also a great cable but the plus had a little better low frequency detail and control. Good Luck.
  4. Did anybody watch this. Brought back some great memories. Journey-Faithfully number 59????? couldn't believe that, but I agreed with most of the list.
  5. I just love the way vinyl sounds on my piece of junk MMF-5. I just can't imagine how great the music would sound on a non-piece of junk table, might have to check into that. Thanks Allan!
  6. Mobile, I own a MMF-5 that has the glass platter, I'm assuming that I could get by with just the donut. I do have static problems with the felt mat on the Music Hall, and would like to go with something that doesn't come up with the record and cause static. MIKE LINDSEY..did you decide to try the Audioquest slate cables? Email me if you did....Thanks
  7. Mobile, The Kimber 4-8tc were also cables I was considering. After talking with AA and a few others they thought the kimber might be a tad lively for my setup. That is my biggest complaint/fault with my system is it's a tad bright at very loud volumes when playing cds. AA told me the Slates are much more laid back in there presentation of the high frequencies and would probably be a good match. Plus at this price I can get an 8' pair for 80 bucks. And NO i'm not getting a new amp yet. Thanks for the number on that marker by the way.
  8. That green pen was the Staedtler 357....is that right. I'm going to go order a couple and wanted to make sure that was the right number. Thanks
  9. Last I seen they had the Slate cables for 60% off. I nearly ordered a 8ft pair but am going to wait. Have also been looking for a used pair of Nordost Blue Heaven that Allan suggests. But for that price it might be hard to pass up the Slates. They do have a 30 day money back guarantee so you can't lose really.
  10. I've been listening more and more to my MMF-5 table. It came with a record clamp and I have used it all the time. Today I was listening to some Steely Dan and I noticed that the record was drifting or warping a little more than i remembered. Does anyone know exactley how tight your supposed to tighten those clamps? They make sense and on most records work great i'm just wondering if the record is warped a tad would it be better to just go without. The record sounds fine though with the clamp. Thanks
  11. Replaced fuse with a 6 amp and the display and everything works now, however I get no sound out of any of the channels, nothing at all. What could be the problem? Thanks for any information
  12. A friend of mine brought over a receiver for me to look at saying he couldn't get the thing to do anything. I opened it up and found that the main fuse was blown. It's a 6.3 amp which I have found to be somewhat rare. If I can't get ahold of one with, Is there any possibility of using a 7 without screwing anything up? Thanks.......

  15. Kris...take a look at Transparent audio cables. Greatest improvement in my system by far was changing out interconnects between pre and amp. ------------------ 2 Channel System: Klipsch Epic CF-2s McIntosh C-15 Preamplifier Adcom GFA 5500 Amplifier Music Hall MMF-5 Table Adcom GCD 700 CD Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer Transparent Audio Cabless>

  19. OrangePeel......remember that all of this sound quality is dependent on the rest of your system. Unless you have fairly nice equipment your not going to be able to hear what a higher end player can do. As for the DVD player acting as a cd player, I bought a Toshiba 2800 around a year ago and just for the heck of it I switched cables from my Adcom 700 to the Toshiba and within five minutes they were back on the Adcom. It literally sounded like I threw a couple blankets on top of the speakers. The Adcom is a five disc player with great converters. You can pick on up for 300-400.00 on audiogon. I recently had a new Arcam 72t player in my system for around two weeks and while it did somethings better than the Adcom, the Adcom held it's own in many ways. The Arcam 72 is a new 800.00 single disc player. ------------------ 2 Channel System: Klipsch Epic CF-2s McIntosh C-15 Preamplifier Adcom GFA 5500 Amplifier Music Hall MMF-5 Table Adcom GCD 700 CD Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer Transparent Audio Cabless>
  20. If you have to "upgrade?" lines every year or so something is vastly wrong. Unless there's been some extreme technology thats come out in the last year or so that I haven't heard of, be happy there not changing products every year. Audioreality, dual 18's and a single horn would sound horrible and the cost to build a cabinet big enough and strong enough for 18's would be very high. ------------------ 2 Channel System: Klipsch Epic CF-2s McIntosh C-15 Preamplifier Adcom GFA 5500 Amplifier Music Hall MMF-5 Table Adcom GCD 700 CD Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer Transparent Audio Cabless>
  21. bigsexy1, The Adcom 5500 is an excellent amp. It's very quiet, with excellent low frequency extension, channel seperation, and is very quick. Apparently some of Adcoms older model amps were quite bright therefore everyone assumes they have never or will never match up well with Klipsch. Listen yourself and see if you have the opportunity. ------------------ 2 Channel System: Klipsch Epic CF-2s McIntosh C-15 Preamplifier Adcom GFA 5500 Amplifier Music Hall MMF-5 Table Adcom GCD 700 CD Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer Transparent Audio Cabless>
  22. My older Adcom doesn't have enough grounded outlets, therefore I will be looking at upgrading. I know some people don't believe in running these and that's fine, I would just like to know some models you guys are running and what you think. Thanks...... ------------------ 2 Channel System: Klipsch Epic CF-2s McIntosh C-15 Preamplifier Adcom GFA 5500 Amplifier Music Hall MMF-5 Table Adcom GCD 700 CD Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer Transparent Audio Cabless>

    Klispch Epic

Trespasserguy, The Epics were only made for 2-3 years so there's not too many out there. This board is some what dominated by Heritage users who believe in either fully horn loading or Midrange and Tweeter horns with cone bass, not two way designs, therefore you don't read much about them here. There has been a few posts on them, just check the archives. Are they good? I'd say there Awesome, but that's just my opinion. ------------------ 2 Channel System: Klipsch Epic CF-2s McIntosh C-15 Preamplifier Adcom GFA 5500 Amplifier Music Hall MMF-5 Table Adcom GCD 700 CD Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer Transparent Audio Cabless>
  24. Buy the Forte's. They are extreme rockers. My old buddy from high school used to dj dances with Fortes and some mid eighties Carver equipment including an amp that unbelievably powerful, and he used to dim a whole row of pop machines on bass notes. ------------------ 2 Channel System: Klipsch Epic CF-2s McIntosh C-15 Preamplifier Adcom GFA 5500 Amplifier Music Hall MMF-5 Table Adcom GCD 700 CD Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer Transparent Audio Cabless>
  25. Testing these players out on your home system for a week or so is just a must. There's just no way you should entirely go on someones opinion as personal preference is the most important factor. I would love to try the Rega out of my own system but unless I buy a used player, it's just not going to happen. I could take a chance on one since I'm sure I could sell it back right away, but with C.D. players I think I'll just buy new and get that warranty. If anyone wants to send my a Planet to test out just let me know..ha,ha. Anyway, when my Adcoms fixed and ready to pick up I'm going to do a comparison at the store with the two players side by side. If I could just get this bass thing figured out I would be sold on this Arcam, as it excells in quite a few areas that I cherish. ------------------ 2 Channel System: Klipsch Epic CF-2s McIntosh C-15 Preamplifier Adcom GFA 5500 Amplifier Music Hall MMF-5 Table Adcom GCD 700 CD Adcom ACE-515 AC Enhancer Transparent Audio Cabless>
