Caviat, I have never heard the new Cornwall IV. I am sure the new CW-IV sounds great but you can get an older pair of Klispchorns for half the price of new CWs. The Klispchorn's horn loaded bass is so much better than direct radiating bass, once you hear it, and live with it, its hard to enjoy "lesser" designs IMO. Where the CW-IV might be superior is in the mid horn. The old K-horns mid K401 is ok but not a favorite of mine. But for less that the cost of the new CW-IV you could get both the Klipschorns and a pair of K402s (top half of the new 30K Jubilee). That combo is very hard to beat! I also have a horn sub in the room so all horn goodness 17 HZ and up.

Having owned both it's Klipschorns all the way for me, but I have an excellent room for them. Now that I have them time alligned and with K402s on top (and a devistator sub below) I think I have gone as far as I will with two channel. But even without time alignment I was surprised at how much better the K-horns sounded in my room. Both the Klischorn and LaScala have compromises baked in, however the ability to fairly easily time align truly gives the K-horn the edge with far superior bass. YMMV

It’s a really nice little speaker with an excellent mid range and decent bass. Add a good sub and you should be pleased. I have much bigger and better but the Heresy IV is no slouch and probably gets the most use of all my speakers since they are in my living room.

I used them as midrange on my Klipschorns but they can be used in a two way as well. That is how I have them in my basement theater. My side channels are quarter pie bass horns with the EV combo doing everything above approx 400 HZ.

My red PA5 arrived a couple of days ago and got it hooked up this morning. In my case I am using it in my time alligned Klipschorn with K402s two channel setup. The PA5 is running the K402s with a Crown driving the bass bins and an Ashly 3.6 SP active crossover. I have been using a Schiit Aegir with the K402s since I got them. After spending a bit of time getting the levels correct and letting the PA5 play for an hour or so I sat down and did some listening along with my violinist wife. I played a variety of recording including orchestral recordings, and then went back to Aegir and listened again. My wife and I usually pretty much agree when listening to stereo stuff but in this case we were in total agreement. The Aegir came off as less detailed but with a warmer more pleasing soft sound. The PA5 was incredibly detailed. I could really hear articulations in brass and winds and background sounds popped right out. At first listen the Aegir sounded more corrct in how orchestral instruments should sound but after going back and forth a few times I think we both agreed the Aegir was coloring the sound while the PA5 was more neutral. Both are great amps and present a nice holographic sound stage. Either amp would keep me happy for a long time but right now the tiny PA5 is going to remain in the system for a while. The picture below shows how tiny this thing is, dwarfed by the Ashly and less than 1/4 the size of a small Sony blu ray player. $350 shipped from China, an astonishing value IMO!

I broke down and have ordered one (in red!). It will be interesting to see how it sounds on the K402s vs. the Schiit Aegir. Schenzhen Audio already shipped it so it will also be interesting to see how long it takes to arrive.

I have several newer gen. Crown amps and fan noise has never been an issue. My QSC amps however...😬

For sale is a black Klipsch Academy speaker. The crossover has been recapped with parts from Crites and the tweeter diaphragm has been replaced with a titanium one from Crites as well. Works great as a center with most Heritage and extended Heritage models. Some cabinet wear on one edge, easily touched up (or ignored). Asking $275, local pick-up in Cincinnati area. Will ship.

I was very happy with these both on my Klipschorns and Quarter Pie bass horns. They got replaced by K402s which are in a different league in every way (sound, size, and cost). IMO its hard to beat these anywhere close to this price

Apparently called "dark bronze," not antique bronze.

It's a fairly dark color, almost black but much more appealing than the factory shiny black IMO.
