  1. As the tittle says I am seeking a pair of Chorus 1 within reasonable driving distance of Cincinnati area. I have a pair of Cornwalls in my living room that are a bit wide for the space but don't want to give up those 15 inch woofers. Hoping Chorus will be a reasonable compromise. Willing to pay cash but also have a couple of nice tube amps or an Integra DHC-90.3 processor I can trade as well.
  2. There are lots of good live performances available these days and many are very well done. The live video Berlin Philharmonic performances are esp. well done. https://www.digitalconcerthall.com/en/home Orchestras are very hard to record well and too many sound people do not understand what playing in an orchestra is like. Recording with multiple mics in the orchestra is dumb because we don't play in a manner that is suitable for that. The sound is supposed to project out into the hall, and esp. for those farther back in the orchestra we play a bit ahead of the beat so that our sound arrives on time to the front. I find most orchestral recordings to lack real dynamics as well. Dynamic ballance is the job of the orchestra, not some idiot with a sound board. I have access to my orchestra's live recordings which are done using 4 mics that are hung out in the hall 30 ft. or so above the floor. Sound is quite good that way though some instruments like percussion come across a bit hotter than sitting in the seats.
  3. I just picked up that same model Sunfire amp from another forum member for $800. Easily worth that price and a fantastic amp.
  4. If your speakers sound better on certain kinds of music than others you are discovering the deficiencies of your system. Every system has them but having been playing around a lot with big horns over the last few years I would suggest time aligning the drivers and getting a good sub (preferably a horn too). Then it will sound good on all music. At that point it is easy to hear what an amp is doing/not doing to the sound.
  5. I recently got the CXA81for the system at my rural place. Very impressive integrated! Prior to the Cambridge was using a nice integrated tube with a Benchmark DAC, which I thought sounded very good, but the CXA81 with it's built in DAC wipes the floor with the old combo. Highly recommended.
  6. I own multiple pairs of KG4 and always remove the risers and use speaker stands (24 inch). They sound way better with the mid and tweeter nearer ear level IMO.
  7. I don't have one for sale but do own two. Beware of the Surface Pro 4, the touch screen can be buggy (driver issue) and Microsoft doesn't seem to want to fix it. The other models seem to work just fine and I really like them YMMV
  8. In a similar situation in wanting to upgrade my living room system. After a lot of reading on the AVS forum I decided to order the Anthem AVM 70 (though it is backordered until?). The Monoprice HTP-1 is very intriguing but I don't want the blow back from my wife if/when it gets buggy. Anthem's strong history of happy customers and long lived products was the deciding factor for me. BTW I also have a Yamaha CX-A5200 in my basement system. Very nice unit and totally trouble free.
  9. Thanks for posting your results. Any subjective impressions on sound?
  10. Very few on this forum, myself included, leave their Klispchorns unmolested. If you plan on not "improving" them then maybe the new ones, but I would go for the older ones. I bet they sound very close to the new ones and IMO the Klipschorn is a fun and easy speaker to tinker with. The best improvement of all is to chuck the passive crossovers in favor of active and time align the horns. Then you really have stunning sound.
  11. Anyone have any experience with the B&C ME464 horn? Its a big CD horn that seems to be readily available (unlike a K402). Tempted to pick up a pair and try them with my DH1A drivers. https://www.parts-express.com/B-C-ME464-1.4-Constant-Directivity-Horn-70x55-4-Bolt-294-6184

    Bicycle Tires

Tire makers are extremely inconsistent in how they measure tires. I have a set of 25mm Specialized tires that are much fatter than my 25mm Michelin so you may run into issues with some brands if you are close to the biggest that will fit.

    Bicycle Tires

Long time cyclist and triathlete. I never skimp on tires having let a pair go a little too long and lost grip in the mountains resulting on a broken elbow. Michelin is the best IMO. Not the cheapest however. https://www.biketiresdirect.com/product/michelin-pro4-service-course-tire
  14. I have Xilica and Ashly units and find them both very easy to use. Both have nice computer interfaces which makes it super easy to use and tweak. Figuring out what to do with them (REW) is the hard part IMO.
  15. You have to put active crossovers between the preamp and the amp. If you have to put it after the amp it will need to be a passive.
  16. I have a pair of KG4 I am willing to part with, also in Ohio (just north of Cincy). Shoot me a PM if interested.

    Cornwall 2

    Are these stock or updated?
  18. Priced a bit high but all the prices seemed to have spiked lately. https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/ele/d/cincinnati-klipsch-cornwall-speakers/7293009648.html
  19. I have the Yaqin MC-13s which is very similar to the 100B. The build quality and sound are first class and I would recommend it without hesitation. I have never heard the Reisong.
  20. Yaqin makes some nice sounding amps, I use a similar model out at my rural place. I bet yours sound even better with those mods. Nice price too. GLWS
  21. I have KG4s as rears in my living room. I used some very sturdy shelf brackets set into the wall studs. First shelf bracket I tried claimed it would take the weight but flexed a bit so I got a pair that could take double the weight and all has been good for the last couple of years. Probably not the best for earthquake country but in SE Ohio it works just fine.
  22. The hardware is made by D-Link, uses a sim card like a cell phone. Bought it through US Cellular when I signed up for the plan. Unfortunately no other good options that far out but it is a game changer for us allowing us to work remotely from there. , I am looking forward to seeing how the Space-X internet works once they have it up and running.
