  1. I wouldn't be surprised at all... just as long as somebody else cooks it! But at least the system sounds great in the kitchen. Those KG.5's are one one of the most underrated speakers out there, they sound like little Forte's or Heresy's and are almost as efficient. I've compared them with some of Klipsch's later bookshelf speakers and they sound way better... don't know why they stopped making them.

Eldon, his wife Christy and their daughter Jamie attended a private listening session years back to listen to some early Jubilees. Several people in attendance noticed some MWM bins laying around and wanted to hook the top end of the Jubilee up to the MWM's. They drug the MWM's into place and put the Jubilee tops on and all culprites involved agreed that the MWM's sounded better and Eldon's Wife Christy and their Daughter Jamie decided that was what Eldon needed. Later Eldon found two clapped out Klipsch MWM single bins and put a pair of split La Scala tops on them. Later, Eldon collected four K-43 Woofers and used his factory MWM singles for measurements and built four exact copies out of Oak. A deer friend of Christy and Eldon fixed them up with a pair of Jubilee top ends and the rest is history. Eldon still has his old factory pair of Klipsch MWM single bins with split La Scala tops out in a shed and drags them outside occasionally for outdoor duty.  [emoji3]

Thanks for the explanation! I know squat about Klipsch cinema products so this has been a learning experience. I'm gonna to have to point Bluesboy to this (if he hasn't seen it before), as he might like to build some MSM replicas.

  3. That sub is 68" wide, the Tv is a 65" for comparison.

The mains on each side of the room are oddly by freak accident also 68" wide, each. The room is 24' wide.
This pic you can see how some of the room is setup. The little speaker on top on the far side is a forte lll as a main for ht and the one in front of the sub is a Forte ll as a center on a little stand with wheels so it can roll out of the way, three forte ll's for rears. 6.1
2 Ch is the MWM/ 402 horn, it sounds OK as Roy would say. [emoji38] Ht and 2 Ch share the sub.

And my wife loves it all    And we rarely listen loud, but it sounds big at any volume. We never once claimed to be normal.

Dtel, are the side speakers KPT-MCM-Q-II's? Why aren't you using those for home theater? Granted they're overkill, but just curious...

  4. Stevie Ray usually gets me going, but I bounce all over the spectrum. Ladies sound great on them (Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Susan Tedeschi  to name a few).
One song I get a kick out of is Beginnings by Chicago (long version). Santana is good, Yes, Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker,........ See what I mean?
I like your taste, especially SRV, Bonnie (her latest is excellent), and Tedeschi (especially teamed with her husband Derek Trucks... their new album is also excellent). Even though I collect a lot of vinyl, I must admit I find myself listening to TIDAL most of the time, mainly because of sound quality plus convenience. I have a playlist of about 780 of my favorite songs that I play on shuffle and that's what I play most of the time. What's great is if I discover a new artist or song, I just pop it on the playlist and I know I'll hear it again... eventually.

  5. What up [mention=26680]wipster[/mention]? Good to see you're still rocking you Belles. Still have mine and love em!
Hope all is well up in Seattle. My daughter has moved back from there, so doubt I will be up again anytime soon. Beautiful part of the world.

Hey Mookie! Things are going well my friend! However I'm on the other side of the state where we only get 6" of rain a year. Weird year for weather though, normally much warmer than it has been, but I'm not complaining. Belle's are sounding great, put Crites networks and driver's in them and matched them up with a Heresy center channel equipped the same... it makes for a seamless front bank, excellent for both music and video.

So in keeping with the real purpose of this thread, what music makes you want to pump more wattage through those Belle's?

    Rock on my friend!

  7. It's almost the size of the kitchen table, it's a Klipsch 1502, it is a prototype 15" version of the 1802 which only went into production for a short while. There will be something different coming along a little smaller later. I think they didn't stick with it because it was only a couple inches smaller than the 1802, if you can fit a 1502 you could fit the 1802 so no reason to have 2 that close in size. The 1502 is 2-3 Db less in in total output than the 1802. It's a horn loaded, vented sub, this style 1502 and 1802 are the first like this and is patented. They are impressive in sound quality and volume.
I use it for Ht and 2 Ch, mains are off to the sides.   I need to take pic's of the whole room room one day but it's messed up right now from remodeling another room.

Cool! But where's the 68" or did I misread your original post? I have a pair of KSW200's (which honestly is overkill but I had to fill the space with something ;-) and they definitely shake the room, can't imagine what your beauty does...

  8. Things vibrate a little but for the most part things will stay in place.

Good thing, I would probably cry if our stuff fell off the sub, it's where all the electronics sits. [emoji33]  A Ht receiver, BR player, sub amp, active crossover for 2 ch, 2 amps for 2 ch, a laptop for music and a satellite box.
OK it's a big sub, 68" wide so it all fits, and besides holding everything it thumps like a pro. :emotion-21:
68" wide? What the heck is it? Sounds like you could use it for a kitchen table [emoji16]!!!

  9. So many, but a couple that came to mind immediately:
Led Zeppelin-- Good Times, Bad Times
Talking Heads--Burning Down the House, live version

Not just a little loud, but very loud as long as there isn't anyone to bother in the house.
Actually, the entire first side of Zep IX (the newest remaster) sounds awesome with a little wattage... might have to listen to that in fact!

  10. Probably was because when you said 78 that is the year we were married and it's the only reason I could remember what year it was. It seem when things get that far back the years all start to get blurry as to what year something happened, part of getting this many years down the road I guess. Some things you can't forget but exactly when it happened is tougher.

We also seen the Stones around that time so they may have played in N.O., I don't remember who was the opening band, I think there were a couple.
Ha! Know all about the blurry my friend... that whole trip was blurry and the concert definitely was. Bluesboy drove his non-airconditioned Monte Carlo straight through from Eastern WA to LA during the middle of the day, along with myself and another good friend. The Charlie Daniels Band was another of the opening acts that day. I could tell you so many stories about that day, but I'd probably have to shoot you.

Regardless, it was a great trip, never to be forgotten... at least what I can still remember...

  11. Peter Tosh and of course Bob, and Toots and the Maytals was what got me into Reggae around that same time. Peter Tosh was the first Reggae band I seen live, it was a little club outside of New Orleans about 30 miles called Ole Man Rivers, it only held about 150 people maby and when it was full they locked the doors. It was the first concert my wife went to with me after we were married, broke her in right. [emoji38]
We all sat in folding chairs, it was a little place out in the country, we were in the second row about 8' from the band, the band came out from the back door like Cheech and Chong in a cloud and everyone laughed, then the keyboardist laid out spliffs across the keyboard top. As they played they would light one pass it through the band and on to the audience and this never stopped, it was kind of funny the way it happened. But it was a great show, I took pictures I need to go through all my old pictures and find them.

It may have just a small place they booked while on that same tour? Back then reggae was not as big so they probably played small places like that between shows ?
Well we saw them in '78 during the Stones "Some Girls" tour, summer, so if that's when you caught them, must be! What a shame to lose such a talent to senseless gun violence, but he did leave us with some awesome music!

  12. If you like a little reggae beat try some Stick Figure, or Pepper=stone love, or some Tribal Seeds= The Garden, or Rebelution= Roots Reggae Music......... or some by Bob's son Ziggy.

Peter Tosh's version of "Get Up Stand Up" is pretty fracking spectacular as well, especially when cranked... amazing production and sound quality. I love Marley's original too, but Tosh's is grand. Saw him in concert opening for the Stones in '78 at the Big A in Anaheim and he was keeping a soccer ball in the air in rhythm with just his feet while singing this song... at least I think he was... the drugs passed around were pretty good that day ;-)

  13. Enya and Tangerine Dream are good choices as well for good high volume play.

Of course, if you really want to shake the house, there’s always the classic digital cannons on the Telarc 1812 Overture
    https://www.stereophile.com/content/recording-october-1979-telarc-1812-overture
I've had that album since it was originally pressed... talk about shaking the house! Especially through Khorns or Cornwalls... amazing.

  14. CCR run thru the jungle
    IMG_1039.JPG.6bb06bee5bd7978b3bacc3eb9c69981f.JPG
Have you ever heard "Change in the Weather" off of Fogerty's "Eye of the Zombie" album? Very reminiscent of Run Thru the Jungle, but way better production and sound quality (and backing vocalists). The rest of the album sucks, but this song is worth the price of the vinyl... highly recommend!

  15. Sweet Little Lisa by Dave Edmunds (basically Rockpile), with Albert Lee playing lead. Very well produced and benefits considerably being played through Klipsch products (heritage mainly). Whole album is great and aptly named, "Repeat When Necessary."
