  1. What I heard back then was the KLF Legend series replaced the poorly selling Epic series that was out from 94 to 97. Here's what an old friend/rep wrote me about them early last year when we chatted about them and is pretty much what I heard from others.  Me personally, I like the Epics better.

The V1 CF-3 were great after the corrective modifications were done - new ports and crossovers. Never heard any past V1. When I worked for Klipsch we had two nicknames for the line - the "Epic Failure" series and the "Complete Failure" line. There were so many mistakes made in the transition from engineering to manufacturing that most established Klipsch dealers wouldn't touch them even with corrections made. They had to blow out the line at huge discounts to discount sellers. They barely retained their dealer base by coming out with the Legend series, which they did very hastily, 9 mos from concept to first shipment. Those wound up saving the company. I have a pair of CF1 in the family room and a pair of KLF-20s that get rotated into my dedicated listening room.

  2. No Klipschorns in the used market are priced at "half that" and those look quite good, too.  Around here, they are closer to $4500 and up.  I wouldn't pay that much for a pair but that's asking price, anyway.

  3. I used to and liked it well enough I guess.  An advantage they have is having the Tidal Connect feature, similar to Spotify, which I hope Qobuz does one day.  If HiRes is what you're after, then their HiFi Plus is the only one that can.  The other is CD quality and some may, or may not, hear the differences.  I'm not sure how broad their HiRes catalog is compared to other streaming companies as I know that there are some artists who put their catalogs on one but not another due to how "royalties" are paid out.  I personally use Spotify (have just about inception) and Qobuz.

  4. There are a bazillion car audio forums out there that can help with your adventure. I spent almost 30 years in the car audio industry (and home A/V), from 1980 till 2009, with the last 8 as a Manufacturers rep and I'm glad to be out of it.  Lol. It was fun for many years though.

  5. 8 hours ago, The BlackLites Band said:

Took a Heresy speaker to get "repaired" in Upstate NY. They claimed, it's the tweeter. I then specifically ask for a repair not replacement. They said they can do it, so I agreed. They charged me 150.00. I came back in 2weeks, pick up the speaker, got home and put it thru the paces. It was like night and day!! The repair failed miserably. So, I opened the back up to assess the work! They took my original Vintage K-77 Tweeter and switched it out with a replacement Klipsch tweeter. I was livid!! Went back, made them track down my vintage k-77, which they complied. SMH... So how can I get both of the K-77 Vintage Tweeters worked on to maintain that sound or is it impossible...

As already mentioned....  Heresy 3's don't use K-77 tweeters; only the originals did.  After that, they were K-76-K's in the Heresy 2's and Heresy 3's used the K-107ti.  Pics of your actual Heresy's would help either here or in the thread you started.

  6. Buy an external subwoofer with an amp maybe?  Buy the new version sub and hope it lasts longer?  Seems sub amps for years were built using some cheapo capacitors that had a short life span.  I went through the same things with a Sunfire HRS-12 powered sub that I've owned since 2007.  I've replaced the main filter caps and some smaller ones and it's worked fine for years now.  But, it's doing something again and I will probably send it to a tech and have him go through it.  Cheaper than buying something new that will most likely fail in a short time.  Everything is built with planned obsolescence anymore.  Especially in last 20 years.  Manufacturers literally told us that back when I was a rep for home A/V and car audio companies from 2001 till 2009 when the market went to crap.  I got out of it then.

  7. I just happened to come across a pair on e b a y a year or so ago for my CF-3's and snagged them instantly.  They just need a light painting and sanding of the letters then  good to go.  It's too bad someone out there can't make badges for these speakers, which are no longer in production, without getting a C & D.  Rather stupid.  Anymore, might as well try to buy something from parts dept, if they have anything, just to have an emblem.
