  1. ok, good to know. The rf7-II aren't listed in the HT section anymore, just the floor standing section. That's why I thought they were being replaced. Not sure how hard it is to get replacement parts, I know a very long time ago, I looked at replacing a driver for my surround and they gave me a number to call. I really like the way the RF7-II look compared to my RF7 but the sound may not be worth the money to swap them out.
  2. I currently have the original RF-7 series. They need new grills and some cosmetic driver issues. i.e. the dust caps are pushed in and some of the cones are dented. They sound fine, no distortion, no popping, nothing. I was thinking about just fixing them but I was looking at the Klipsch website and it looks like they have been replaced with the RP-280 Dolby Atmos series. I am curious which route is better, to stick with my RF-7s or to upgrade to the RP-280s? Unfortunately, I live an hour away from the closest Klipsch dealer and they may not even have them on the show floor to listen to.
  3. I have a set of rs-3 surrounds that have bad drivers. Can I get replacements somewhere and replace them myself? Thanks.
  4. I second that on the ATI 9700 Now we just need a MB with 1066 ramnus memory and a 8x AGP slot ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio This message has been edited by wife-said-no on 08-11-2002 at 05:17 PM
  5. How do you like that Asus MB. If only they would make one with an 8x AGP slot. I need a MB with 1066 Rambus and 8x AGP. No one is making them yet! ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  6. They make perforated screens so that you can put your speakers behind the screen. I think that it is actually better. That way you can put the center in the middle of the screen as apposed to the top or bottom. MIke ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  7. Do you know what program it uses? I am using windows XP and it won't let me open it. First it said to use netzip but netzip says that it isn't a zip file. Mike ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  8. This post amazes me. So far the concensus is that putting a stereo in a car is something for immature little kids. Once they reach puberty, they'll buy a house and then get a HT. No way is this true. I am only 28 so there are some younger and some older than me here. The bottom line is that when I drive to work or anywhere else, I like the same quality that I have in my house. And yes this can be accomplished. Granted it is harder to do because a car enviornment is very unforgiving. There are 2 types of CA. Those for SPL and those for SQ. They both have different agendas but their bottom line is a love for Car audio. The industry leaders are all people in their 40's. They have built this industry from the ground up. The biggest difference between CA and HT, HT has forums and a few get togethers. CA has compitions that lead to fame and give out money. Now don't get me wrong, I love HT and Klipsh. But, when was the last time you heard Klipsch (or any other) say, "that is the best sounding Klipsch system we have ever heard. How about posing for some of our ads." Anyway, maybe we should just remember that it is all about the music. It doesn't matter whether it is in the car or the home. Mike ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? 9. Motorhome, that could be fun. You could put the speakers in the cabinets with some servo motors to bring them out. You need to check into some car audio mags to see all the fun things that you can do with gears and motors. mike ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? 10. So is that a DIY center? I think that you should put that on the DIY portion of Hometheater forum. If you don't have a membership there, I can put it up for you. Just give me some info on what you did. Mike ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  11. Shoot, my wife would like me to give up electronics period. I have about $2000-3000 invested in my car, hiting close to 150dB. I also have about $4000 invested in my home theater. Needless to say it is a little expensive to do both. Mike ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  12. Another thought. My Dad doesn't have the home theater but he has his house wired to his PC. He can controll all the lights, the various fishtanks, climate control as well as the TV and DVD player. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  13. quote: Originally posted by Q-Man: Analog. Buy one now, I heard that they were going to stop making it. Q. I heard that too, about 2 years ago. I hope it never happens. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  14. Sorry to add fuel to my own fire. Which would you choose and Why? SACD DVD-audio I am not sure as to the $$ of DVD-audio but I know you can get SACD for less than $400. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  15. Personally, I would save up the extra $250 and buy the 25-31pc SVS. Then you won't need to buy a new sub ever again. Unless you move into a large house, then you might want the 16-46pc. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  16. What do you have your TV next to? Is there any magnetic sources? My Panasonic has a geosomething or nother adjustment to correct for magnetic fields. Make sure that there isn't one by your TV. Then call Sony. Mike ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  17. So that I don't make a mistake, is there anything important to know about SACD players. For instance, can you hook them up to most receivers? Is there anything that I should be on the lookout for? Thanks Mike ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  18. I guess the big question is whether or not the TV us smart enough to tell the difference. I have my satellite hooked up to my receiver via an S-video and then an s-video to my TV. So when I switch to video 2, I can use the receiver to switch between the satellite and the DVD player. I think that it can tell because unless I turn the receiver on (when in vid 2) there is no picture. I think that I need to just make sure that everything is calibrated well and there are no loose connections. What makes it hard is that my son watches cartoon network a lot and some of the cartoons are old and bad quality. Thank you for your help again. 19. If it isn't too late. . . Those J&R refurbs come with full warranties and if you think that they are a steal at $150, you'll love this. I get their flyer and if you call and mention the flyer they are only $129. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  20. I auditioned the Marantz mono blocks once. They are truely amazing. They were being played through some top line NHT so I can't vouch for the Klipsch sound. If i had the money to spend on them I would have bought them. There was a really nice article in Home Theater Technology. The article was called THX light done right. Or something like that. Anyway they did a <$11000 THX home theater. Marantz mono block, AMC pre-amp, Da-Lite screen, Atlantic Technology speakers. It was a very nice system. Sorry at the time it was the MA-500. But they are the same thing. They are on ebay for less than $150. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? 21. Seperate power amp? How much power and how many channels? You could pick up a lot of different amps for under $500. Or you could get a Marantz monoblock amp for aroung that price. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  22. I live in Bloomington, Can we tour the Indy facility? ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  23. Thanks. I originally had some lighter wood and when I upgraded the TV I went with the dark because I thought that it would look better. I think my wife liked the lighter but who's asking. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? Home Theater Car Audio
  24. I remember the first time that I heard the RF-3 speakers. The sound caught me and I bought them. That is the same fealing that I had when I heard the RF-7s. Except there is no way my wife would let me buy them. Unless I wanted to live in the boxes they came in. If you have the money and don't mind spending it on them, it is a good upgrade. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? My Home Theater
  25. I think that I fixed the problem with my web page. Now it is under my IU account. I guess I will see if IU has a problem with this. The link is in the sig. ------------------ Come on honey why can't I spend some more money? My Home Theater
