  1. Hey John Sony is offering a $50 rebate on their S360 which brings it down to $199. Now Uncles quoted me $219 last fall on it. If you still get the rebate thats a good deal. The unit gets good reviews.
  2. I think your answering your own question. The extra 10 watts--sounds like you don't need them. DSP modes--I use 4 of mine depending on the mood I'm in...what's the point? Now connectivity and other features like componet video switching and 5 channel stereo is another issue. And you can get that for less money in like the RXV 1000. Uncles offered me one for $700 last fall, prices should be even lower now (their new line is out now). Consider what you are going to want your system to do in the not so distant future and go from there. New formats are on the move so shop wisely.
  3. Welcome aboard Puddy Tell what kind of budeget your working with, what your rooms like, what you will be listening to (percentage wise). We'll dial you right in. The new ref's will be out in a month!
  4. Salespeople are people--they have to make money. It is easier to sell someone something that they have heard of or have seen somewhere else. Since Klipsch doesn't advertise like some other companies, their name doesn't get around (when is the last time you saw Klipsch's in a comercial). Of all the stereo shops in my hometown there is only one that sells Klipsch! So somebody comes in and their looking at Blouses (speakers that is), hey--SELL EM TO EM! This happened to me when I bought my first set of Klipschs' (the salesman ask me if I would consider B&O's), glad I did'nt bite. Couple this with the fact that there have been some problems (like with the KLF 30's coming apart), and the standard black ash finish not being so very attractive (WAF) and dealors not stocking full lines & so on and so forth--it is easier to MAKE THE SALE! Anyway, no matter where you look, here we are! Be happy with what you have and be jealous about the rest. Can't wait to see what people have to say about the new refs (1 more month). Hope they don't come apart like the KLF's.
  5. Doing a Yahoo search under Klipsch just now & BAM!!! Theres a heading announcing Best Buy now selling Klipsch speaker systems. Is this the internet answer? Checked their web page and didn't find any Klipsch stuff. Is this bogus or have they not updated their page? They sell Monster @ MSRP. Don't forsee them discounting if true. Have you heard anything on this PhilH?
  6. sorry for the double post
  7. Being in the health care industry I fully understand the infectious process relating to communicable diseases. No matter what I do (protection? tried Monster first--no help, more money/better equipment--no help) nothing seems to quell this dreaded disease! In a support group now, even thats expensive & my insurance is about to reach its limit! I hear there's a clinic in Hope, Arkansas. I hear a bunch of us on this board went there recently under the guise of some company get together or something. They all came back feeling much better--I'm gonna try to go next year.
  8. Fiver optic cables seem to get good reviews from brand to brand--the design is inherantly sound. Most people like the digital coax because of the tight fit they get with the connection. I use FO and feel the sound is very good. Speaker cable, 12 ga is the choice of this boards masses. Demo your center before you buy. It is going to be your most important speaker so try your best to make an earformed decision. I have the SC-1, a good center. Boy would I like to upgrade (just a wish/dream/drool-drool) oh well, maybe I'll win the lottery. Anyway you get my point!
  9. Good posting guys Really surprized Klipsch hasn't come forth with a polocy--time is money & time has come & gone! I bet the internet sales thing doesn't even really apply to the masses. We love music & are generally knowledeable about sales/prices and do enough business (for a long enough time) that we will/are willing to shop for a bargin. Most people will not. You know the attitude today--want it now! As an example: since I bought my system, three of my friends have bought Klipsch systems. I told them about internet prices & NONE of them opted to go that route!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are mutually exclusive customers and a minority. Klipsch can have its cake & eat it too with internet sales. Dealers will not have to drop their prices due to internet discounts.
  10. Hey Nathan, What speakers do you have for the mains & center. If they don't match could be a problem source. If they do, hummm...I have an SC-1 & a RXV795a, and find dialog very clear. Have listened to smaller centers and was'nt satisfied at all. Try setting the center channel to small, this will allow the speaker to concentrate on the higher frequencies (dialog) by routing LFE to the sub. What kind of player and interconnects?
  11. There comes a time in every mans life when he has to put his foot down! And that time is now jrs--don't try and explain anything, just go buy them and let em rip. Sometimes you just can't explain why you need it (has she ever not had an exlanation for something she bought or used the "it was on sale" line). Klipsch's are MANLY speakers! Go for it!!! PS: Don't tell my wife I said this stuff
  12. Hey ChristopherA Sorry to hear about your problem, I have a KSW 10 and don't have that problem. Your sub may be crossed over too low, what do you have it set at? You can also try adjusting the bass management--send all the bass to the sub, the 15 can handle it & may keep it from turning off. Anybody else?
  13. With budget constraints and HT use the KSW 12 should be a good option, should be able to pick one up for around $325-375 NIB from your local dealer. Check the SW section of this board for a lot of good sub info.

  15. GhostTX, If your truely tired to the mush, Klipsch is the way to go IMHO. You will get good bang for the buck. Must get a bigger budget or buy in increments--what I'm doing. Just a word of advice: The more you listen the more you will want to upgrade--make a sound decision first. Go listen to the different lines and decide what you can live with!
  16. The front 3 speakers are always the most important. You will have a missmatch mixing the synergy & reference models. Would recommend either synergy mains (like the SB-1) or a reference center (like the RC-3). You'll notice it as sound is tracked across the front channels (like left to right movement or visa versa). Since you are going to have synergy surrounds it will probably be best to get the SB-1's and have a complete match.
  17. Many people have very powerful amps--more so than they need. Depending on the product you can get better amplification with the bigger amps at lower volumes. Your Klipsch's will play very loud at less than 50 watts. A more important question is how they sound in the room & does it satisfy your ears. Any good seller will let you demo the product in home. Take them home and give em a listen, it would be better to upgrade now if you feel your missing something. If he wont let you take em home, go elsewhere where they appreciate your business. This is a great hobby and a good dealor relationship can be a nice thing! Just remember relationships go both ways. Welcome aboard.
  18. Welcome aboard Nubis Sounds like a great system. Would agree with Boa on the RB-5's for the back. They are pretty small and with the other dipoles you have would be the best in my opinion. Remember that 2% music! And I'm just a direct radiating fan for the surrounds anyway. I have full size speakers as my surrounds and love them.
  19. Wow! Great set-up, and don't worry what those truely jealous people say. We know what we like and thats the deal. Would recommend surge protection next. Check out hififorless.com, best prices on Monster I've seen (HTS 2000 $131 delivered). If your sub is seperated from the rest fo your system they also make a small plug onto the wall sub protector! Boy, I hope Monster doesn't do away with their internet sales policy!
  20. Hey guys, I just figured it out! Billy Bob does'nt own Klipsch's. We hear him say that, but come on. What does it mean to him when he says "I own Klipsch speakers." He absolutely did not have sex! Yea I feel better now, he means KLH, kinda close! That or he meant "Lips" Speakers. Any female speakers in the house?
  21. RJS, what ever happened with your system? Guess you can tell that people here are less than enthusiastic about the set up. That comes from experiance and years of listening to good music. It will spoil you. Klipsch has great sound and leaves you wanting more. Point being spend YOUR money wisely because some dealors will take any way they can and more than once! Still recommend listening to at least a Synergy set up. Let us know what your doing!
  22. Yes, has its own speaker. You can hook it up to your recievers speaker cables to get the lfe information or use the sub out on your receiever. If you do use a sub cable it is recommended to use a y-connector. You'll get about 8db increase in output!
  23. The purpose of the center channel is central in 5.1 decoding. It delivers most of the dialoge and action. It receives a seperate channel of information form the receiver as do the mains. Why can't you pull from the "center out" on your receiver? Yes, you are missing something. By blending the mains you will miss sound effects like left to right movements etc. Also, do you have rear speakers and a sub? These also add to the seperation and overall ambience. Is it a good solution? Well it's kinda relative! Please tell us what kind of system you have and the problem with it. Sure you are going to get the sound out of the movie, just not how the director intended it to come across. Is this a big deal? Kinda up to you, many of us go to great lengths to get it just right. Me, heck I love my system and have less than 3K in it.......errr for now! Man what a great hobby!
  24. wegivesoundadvice.com they have several entertainment centers that are fully adjustable to the size TV you have
