no, but that's a good place to start when humming is the result. it could also be a control pod or a number of other internal components in the sub. its one of those things that is pretty hard to diagnose over internet and if what I wrote doesn't help, then sending to a professional would probably be the best thing.

if I recall correctly it looks like a black square piece of plastic mountecd to the circuit board, it says "BASH" right on it.

try jiggling the BASH chip inside the subwoofer, if possilbe, remove it and reinstall it.

first, try using DeOxit on the pots, if that doesn't fix it, I have one I can sell you, but no, you cant get a 2.1 to work with it that I know of.

if I recall correctly they are a 6ohm speaker, and also, ordering a higher wattage speaker will not increase the power going to the sub, but changing the ohms resistance will.so in other words, if you use a 4ohm speaker (100 watt) and a 8 ohm (100 watt) then the 4 ohm will actually draw more power from the amps than the 8 ohm giving it more power, but at the same time, if you draw too much power from the amps then you can burn them out. just food for thought.

in my opinion, it will be better than the 2.1, the sub for the v.2-400 has 2 drivers in it, the 2.1 sub only has one driver in it. and at that price, I wouldn't pass it up, you can sell it on ebay for $100 and up no problem.

Klipsch 2.1 DIN replacement options 1st option: which is the cheapest does require some good soldering skills, if you have (or know someone that does) good soldering skills then I can sell you the plug you need and give you instructions on how to do it and that would only cost you $5.50 total. 2nd option: the easiest and fastest solution which is my DIY Repair cable, with this cable all you do is cut the plug off your current din cable and then you strip each of the wires inside the cable and then you twist them together with my cable green to green red to red yellow to yellow etc. and tape them all off as you go, and bam, done! that option costs $12.50 total, 3rd option: send me your control pod and i will professionally replace the din plug for you and give a lifetime guarantee on the new plug and that option will cost you $17.50 total, each of these options are discounted from my usual Ebay price for savings to you and me. it "appears" to be part of the speaker, but it is not. if you remove the base/stand from the speaker by removing the phillips screw then the controller will slide off the speaker as well in the same direction, sometimes they can can stuck on pretty good and it may take some taps to get them moving (I like using the rubber handle of a pair of pliers for this). and the cable almost never fails, usually it is the DIN. they can fail internally sometimes and not even show any signs of being damaged.

if it is the DIN cable that is the problem then I can certainly help you out. and I guarantee my DIN connector work for life.

I don't know, tv's vary alot from brand to model etc. but if you can't get the headphone jack to work that sounds like a problem with either the tv settings for that jack, or the jack itself. another option you can try is if your tv has RCA audio outputs you can use a female stereo to stereo RCA male adapter and use the speakers that way. I am sure they will sound much better than the factory built in speakers, lol.

might have to do with the tv settings. some tv's have to be set to allow the headphone jack to put out a signal and some need to be set to turn off the built in speakers when the headphones are in use. I would check with your owners manual for your television, ifyou still don't get sound from the speakers, do a little trouble shooting,m hook up a regular pair of headphones to that tv headphone jack and see if you get anything.

That is the newer model, and personally, I prefer the older version of the ProMedia. They sounded better and the factory speaker wires are inferior, it was nice with the older version because you could replace the wires with premium wires, now you are stock with they they give you. a terriblt design flaw, and all through the history of all high end speaker, no high end speaker come with built in wires. that should be left to crappy all in one WalMart surround speakers etc. Just food for thought. Get the older speakers and buy some better wires for it, you won't be dissapointed.
