  1. I'll be using the Tubes4Hifi ph6 and pc5. They were designed to be replacement boards for the Dynaco PAS3. I once had them installed in and make shift chassis. It's been a while since I've heard it, so I can't recall the characteristics of the sound, but that it was dead silent and good sounding. I don't even recall what amp I used at the time. Hoping for similar results with ACA. There are 2-3 stereo setups I will keep and rotate through and this will be one of them. That pre is currently under construction, so it won't be until later this year that I get to enjoy it again.
  2. I had a good experience with a tube line stage from Tubes4hifi.com. I ended up selling that line stage to fund a new project, but do have a similar line stage that I will be building into a pre amp with phono section. All of this comes from Tubes4hifi.com. Note, this is running a tube pre/line stage into a solid state, some frown upon it and prefer to run SS pre into tube amps, YMMV. If I was going to go SS, I would look at Diyaudio again for something from Mr. Pass.
  3. I didn't actually compare all the specs between the topping and Hypex, but I'm not recommending the Hypex for the wattage, I recommending the Hypex for the quality. As you stated, better is in the eye of the beholder, I just pointed him in the direction at what he can get for his budget. I agree with the tube statement, my favorite to-date has been the Scott 222 I once owned. Next inline is my Nelson Pass ACA at 8 watts SE SS, hard to beat for the price.
  4. At that price range I believe you might have more options other than Class D, but if Class D is a must, check out Hypex Fushion. https://www.buckeyeamp.com/shop/amplifiers/hypex/nc502mp/2_channel
  5. I'm waiting on the same piece from Craig at NOSVALVES. Looking forward to it. Had a 222c, from NOSVALVES and kick myself for getting rid of it, hence the purchase of the 299 from him.
  6. Check here, I would go for the Eliptracs myself.
  7. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1598234160391737/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT https://www.facebook.com/groups/275932155848355/?ref=share&mibextid=NSMWBT Also, you check those places and Ebay for actual items sold to gauge your price.
  8. We will need pictures to determine that. Once condition is determined, E.G. 9 out of 10, 5 out of 10, etc. Then you need to decide if you want to make a premium or a quick sell. Depending on condition, prices can range from $500 to $2500. $500 being rough amd a quick sale versus $2500 for pristine conditions and be willing to wait for the right buyer. The garage section is a good place, as a couple of Facebook froups such as audiophiles on budget, horn speaker marketplace and Facebook Marketplace. GLWS.
  9. Welcome and good luck with the restoration. I to would hold off on doing anything with the crossovers until after replacing the diaphragm. I am sure they will look and sound nice once you are done. Your English seems pretty good, so I wouldn't worry to much about it.
  10. I knew there was someone around with a butt load of gear. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/317286380653484/
  11. Look up a guy named Tim Kresko, he is in a couple other forums and Facebook groups (he may have been a member here once). He used to be big in dealing with salvaged loud speakers recovered from old theaters and stadiums. He hasn't been running a store front or advertising lately, but I swear I had seen a post lately that he had a handful of these. I wish I would have saved his post, but unfortunately I didn't. If you look him up and reach out him, he might be able to give you some insight on some, he is based out of St. Louis.
  12. The Heresys will work, but Cornwalls will work better. If you end up with Heresys, I'd add a couple of subs.
  13. I miss Dave, he was a good dude with good stuff. I wish I had the extra cash as there is a pair of his horns up for sale. Those and the EV HP640 with the Faitals are hard to beat. I still have Dave's Fastlane Drifts as surround speakers.
  14. I was just getting ready to ask in your other thread If you were the first to have Heritage Jubilees overseas amd the only one. Still a nice purchase.
  15. RIP, definitely an icon around here.
  16. I stumbled upon this thread searching for some of his posts. He last visited the forum in 2022. Unfortunately @garymd has brought some sad news. It's sounds like his health was in the decline for sometime and passed away yesterday.
  17. What sounds intriguing is the 4-10" mids and 4-horns with 2" drivers. Could this be a set up with the KPT-305 and K402? The Kpt 305 would be 8" mids, not 10".
  18. $100, you pay freight. But seriously, 8-15" bass bins? That's a hell of system.
  19. Nice looking pair at a good price. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/6zwLD7a59w7c4ezs/?mibextid=kL3p88

    What I Got Today!

That was a good deal, I was eyeballing them myself. I'm always glad to see a good forum member help out another good forum member.
  21. If I understand your question, your asking if adding a dedicated 2 channel amp to your HT system will improve the 2 channel experience? If that is what you are asking, I believe it could. I'd suggest something better that the OSD for the front 2, even the center, something along the lines of a 3 channel power amp near doubling the power capabilities of your speakers. I know Klipsch is efficient, but if your speakers have dips down to 4 or even 2 ohms with the low frequency, your AVR will struggle. Not all watts are created equal.
  22. That's what I primarily use. No sign of corrosion after 13 years.
