  1. I might start a post in the HT forums as well, but I have been saving and can't wait. I have been down the which tube pre should I try. I still really really want to try that kit that Gothover built a while back from tubes4hifi which is now the sp 8, but I have been looking at a few others which I will email Craig to get a more direct input from him since what ever I might get will eventually get sent to him. But here are the brands, what I want to know are there any models not to get and some to look for on the bay. I do know most of these I have been looking at are integrated units which is fine. Fisher Eico Dynaco Scott I would love to try Mcintosh someday but they are really out of my price range right now plus I have heard of sticker shock not say the probably don't sound really really great but repairs could get costly. Or should I continue to save for the 15" drivers I need for my fronts on my ht. Or should I just pick up a pair of either homemade K-horn cabs which could also be speakerlab made cabs I have to get the guy to take me to his shop to get a good look. But those are only 200.00 What do you think el dude
  2. I think you hit it on the nose, or maybe it has something to do with all the vodka we've been drinking.[D] But I will say there seems to be a lot more over in the garage sale section or maybe that's just were I have been hanging out lately. but on a higher note like c minor, someone had said something along the lines of older fellows or lady's that are not internet savoy. I in the last year have gotten my dad hooked on 2 channel. I thought once i got him set up with his r5s and Sansui receiver he would be set, then next thing I know he was wanting my old stuff to try out. If I could just get him on the internet(first I would have to get him to get a comp). Then he would be on here all the time spending his money on great gear so I or I mean we can check it out. the dude
  3. Breath, breath, sorry just reviving a old thread. This is one of my next projects, I was just comparing specs between the Beyma cp25, Jbl 2404, and the cheaply selenium hm1725 with the dd220ti driver(don't know if anyone's ever gave these a listen maybe I will start a new thread on them). But I am building a hole new top hat for it with a 511b and one of those tweeters, I was hoping that they were the same size so I could easily swap out to compare the 3 for my liking. This will be center channel for my HT later down the road. Just always browsing for ideas. Now I am glad Al is around for this so maybe he can give me ideas on crossovers for just the top hat since I will be active crossing over with the bass bin. Thanks Nick
  4. I too always like a nice rack........ No but Mike really nice room, quick question how far apart are those K-horns from corner to corner, and how does it sound. Last but not least I hope you have a piece of glass on top of that one Heresy so you don't get a water ring from that plant(those are some nice matching veneered speakers). But nice clean looking setup.
  5. Can't seem to find any info on it but it looked like a k-55-v driver, but I thought it said it was 8 ohm, and it had a bolt in the center. Thanks Nick
  6. Anyone ever herd of this not just with Khorns but with any speakers, I am talking of spraying the inside. Reason for a pair of Khorn knock offs with the 1/2" thick ply wood. A fellow in a local shop keeps talking about doing it to thicken the walls and make boxes more durable. I don't know how you could even get in and spray the insides. Just seeing if any one has ever herd of this and if it actually works. Or it sounds really silly and don't even think about trying. Nick
  7. Cool, I live close to Bellevue, I travel there frequently(mother in law lives there). Maybe after the holidays I'll get a hold of you and stop by.
  8. NIce looking rooms to the both of you looks like you guys got some early Christmas presents. Jason when you going to have me over for a demo would love to check it out in person, also nice build thread, can't wait untill I get my started I am still in the porcess of collecting gear. I vision mine something simalr hopefully it turns out as nice. Nick
  9. Thanks for looking out Bill, I will keep the 707 in mind I don't know if I will ever add the amp but that is a plus to have. I like the Onkyo cause it has the Ipod connection, were the Harman/Kardon 254 got passed up in that department, the olders do and the newer ones do but for some reason they passed that one up. I am looking at both for the price. Or I could save another 180.00 and buy the K-horn bass bins and Lascala bass bin for a different ht project. thanks guys duder
  10. anyone here have any experiance with these, I know lots like Onkyo but this seems a bit lower quality possibly(based off of price). I have my eye on this and Harman/kardon avr 254. thanks Duder
  11. Thanks to both of you I think that answers my questions, Texas yours are were I got the idea from. I don't know if yours were black laquer or painted black, but I was going to go with the piano gloss look with bright white grills. I dig the Japanese Mod look.
  12. I think they were in Texas, the reason I ask is for a couple of question. 1. were did you get the white grill cloth or did they come like that. 2. If you made them or not, do you know if the board that the cloth attached to was painted black or white for the back ground. 2. the reason I posted here is for the simple fact that this post might get noticed most here. Thanks duder
  13. , Nice room, reminds me of my first setup in my old house, So don't feel evious, that is all I had in my own house. I feel envious of you for have building a super computer to run it all, that is something I wish to have one day.
  14. I posted on another forum do to the fact that they are not Klipsch speakers, Jut seeing if anyone here wants to stop by and take a look to give there 2 cents worth, heres the link http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1288203 No I dont have pics up yet but will soon. thanks Nick
  15. Good info guys, I have just been using the mirror out of my wifes makeup case. Don't know if this is a good idea but I like to think it works.
  16. why I ask I am redoing a pair of speaker cabs, that the original stlye feet were just 3/4" thick by about 1" tall wood strips 2 of them shaped into a v like that ran down towards the back of the cabs. Not that is seems to be a bad Idea but they are kind of busted up and I was thinking of replacing them with some spikes or something like. Any ideas.[C] thanks duder
  17. Is that an electric fake fire place? Yep, I wish we had a real fireplace but what can ya do, buy a fake one! I am worried about the heat period directly under my system, I have been looking at these lately but worried. let us know if it heats up the gear. Nick
  18. Shake777, You didn't miss any pics, I haven't got that far yet. I am still working on moving and rearranging a bit so I can enjoy, plus I have to finish building some speakers. I guess I am not exactly were your at, I just have a couch and speakers sitting around. When I get the more appropriate set up going I will post.
  19. Looks like your in the same spot I am, how does it sound with the concrete walls. I have insulation up which does quite a bit of sound control, just haven't had time to get the system up to hear it. Have fun its always good when you see something coming together.
  20. Maybe you really just don't like metal, Just messin with you.
  21. So your have approx. 13x16 room that opens to a kitchen, I think you have quit a bit of room for for rf 7s. You may all so want to consider something from the Heritage line, they are made out our of wood with most having wood veneers. I love jamming some Lamb Of God on vinyl with my Cornwalls at my old place, and now my Fortes. I would think any of those would work fine. If they are too big you can look at some Heresies I just think they might be to small for your room, maybe not, but you could run a sub with them for more bass in that large of a area. Your best bet is to find someone locally that would let you audition them. good luck Duder.
  22. Are they worth 100.00 how do they sound would probably pairing it with my dynaco pat4, and Chorus, or maybe some other project like some horns with k-55 drivers, I have going on. Anyone know the specs on these, I found something about it having 120 watts rms is this both channels combined. Any input appreciated. thanks Nick
  23. Hopefully some guy doesn't pee on it. Nice room by the way, its not how it compares its how you like it.
  24. I agree, looks like it could be in a magazine.
  25. Thanks djk, shot me a pm for a price on that 24cx2. I have some cheap 15s that I will have to use now, I am running a little low on cash. But I am heading to a garage sale that a pro audio shop is having from 9-5 if I don't get anything there I might be interested in yours. I sitll have to pick up a couple of amps or at least one. Wait did I say 9-5 what am I sitll doing here go to go before all the goods are gone. Nick
