  4. Ok so I was able to reboot with safe mode, this is what is says Windows could not start because the following file was missing or corupt. <windows root>\system32\hal.dll. Please reinstall. \ Is this someting that will be on the operation disk or were can I find this to reinstall and is there a comand prompt I have to enter to get the disk to run. thanks again duder
  5. So I have a dell dimension 2400 with windows xp, 2.4 ghz processor, over 600mb of ram 40g hard drive I believe. What I was trying to do was install a 1394 ieee pci card in the comp. Now lets back up a min when I moved back in May of 09 this computer worked fine, so I believed it still worked maybe it didn't I don't know. But I went to install the card and when I turned it on I got a blue screen telling me that the hardware or software installed was not taking to the hard drive, and said something about removing and restarting. If this did not work try rebooting with safe mode and go in and remove any bios or shadows(something like). So I removed the pci card and I still get the blue screen, and rebooting with safe mode does nothing for me... Now I know I am not a computer programmer but I have installed a ram card so I thought this could be as easy. I guess I was wrong about that. Anybody got any idea whats going on here, I could use a little help since I have spent a little dough not much but I would like to get this working so I can hook up audio interface. If this comp is junk I need to find either another computer that has windows xp since that is what the audio interface works on, or sell the audio interface to get something that works with windows vista or 7 and buy a hole another comp all together. Here is a pic of the screen I keep getting. Please help. duder
  6. I am running a rx-402(which I only bought cause my area code was 402, just kidding) it is a older model that was made in Tokyo. I think it has fairly warm sound. It is rated at 25 watts per channel, So I am using it mainly as a pre to my kenwood basic m2a. The tuner section is great, lately I have ran into a rfi issue that I think one of the main issues has to do with the antenna right by the input sections. Though I never had a rfi issue before at my old house I think the new one has something to do with it. All in all I think for the price of Rotel its not a bad gear company when stepping into higher end gear. I am interested in using their pre for surround some day. By the way I am running a pair of Cornwalls with mine. duder
  7. I feel ya, I am going through the same thing but my room is open more than the other and it seems to matter which side I put the sub more on. duder
  8. Rudy how do those sound those are from the commercial line right. duder
  9. Looks like you figure some out on your own, just by searching around here. Those are like mine. Looks like it might not have been a bad deal. The woofers you speak of possibly are reproduction or after markets but it they are from a credible sources such B&k audio they are good woofers. You can refinish since they are birch raw reads the model C-BR. So sanding and re-staining wouldn't drop value I dont think. There will be lots more input here in a bit if you sit around and wait. Great score in my opinion. Have fun. and welcome duder
  10. I don't think the guy wants to sell(he won't answer his phone)probably sold them or realized he shouldn't. What ever the case is if I do get a hold of him I will contact Craig though. thanks nick
  11. Can not find much about these, except that they are 55 watts each mono blocks. Any input would be appreciated, things I need to know like how much to pay without being able to test, the unit has no tubes. Also what tubes to use if I do get, I think it takes el-34 for output don't know about pres and rectifiers. If I can get a good deal on these will they be worth the money to go through or maybe even send to Craig for fixin up. I might be running a pair of Heresies or my Cornwalls. thanks duder
  12. There seems to be a few High-end stores in my next of the woods two of them use to carry Klipsch Heritage but dropped out. There is a home electronics, appliance, furniture store, that carries the reference line but that's all I get locally. I have to drive about 2-3 to a High-end store down in Kansas to here some thing from the Heritage line though they don't carry much. But they do have a pair or two lying around for demo which they sell off of the floor. duder
  13. Yea go for it and let me know if its worth it, so I know if I need to upgrade my amp. (even nicer when they spend theirs to compare things for you). If the price was right I know I would. Have fun and let us know what you think. duder

  16. thanks Bill I will let her know. I will keep an eye out around here. I have also seen some decent stuff on the bay so I will try there. Nick
  17. thanks Bruce is there a brand or part # of the wire you speak of that you use at work, and is like a wire were I can solder or crimp rca ends on. Also what is this zip cord you speak of I have read other people talking about it as well. thanks again nick
  18. My sister is getting into vinyl and 2 channel systems, I just bought her, her first pair of Klipsch for Christmas(some kg1.5s for her apartment) well she now has found a Stanton str8-20 on cl with no cart or hard shell, for 30 bucks. Is this worth the dough to put a cart and more money into I think she has about 100.00 to put into it. It looks to me to be a dj unit so didn't know how anyone felt about using it for 2 channel. I also read that there's a lot of use of Stanton carts so I might figure they make good tables also. Let me know what you folks think. I just got a shure cart for my cheapo technics and man is that a difference from the audio technica.(had to through that in there) thanks duder.
  19. Bruce Thanks for your quick reply, I will be hooking it up to my Dell dimension 2400 which I will be using for a dedicated music server. I am picking up a 1394ieee card tomorrow for it. I will be using a fire wire cable from the Behringer to the comp. Then I will need to run a feed to the tape input on my Rotel rx-402, I have read that this is a great audio interface for this, also down the road I can use it to help record my bass jam sessions. Nick
  20. Just got one for Christmas, couple of quick questions if anyone can help. There are two balanced outs, one says L and the other R I figure left and right. do I need 2 1/4 jacks to rca adapters, and do they have to be balanced plugs or can I use the mono's. Now lets talk about cable from the audio interface to the receiver. I have tributaries rg-59, and compression rca ends, I can get quad shieled rg-6 from home depot which will run about .60 a foot I have compression style rca ends for that too, or I could get Audio Quest tri shielded for about 1.00 a foot. Or is there something else anyone would recommend I will be making my runs into the walls no more than 30 feet. I do have the capablities to solder so that is not a problem. any help will be great. thanks duder
  21. My uncle is stationed in that area he is having a house built which I believe will be done next February I can find out exact details tomorrow, his house is a rental and I am sure the owners will be looking for renters soon. duder
  22. Welcome to the forum and yes we all love pics. You mean this just isn't me that this seems to be happening to, I was wondering what was happening in the last couple of years. duder
  23. Congrats. nice looking piece of art. Great pics by the way, those really help some that might be trying to figure it out them selves. Hope you enjoy. Nick
  24. I don't know what crossovers you have but you might be able to get new caps and parts for your tweeters from Bob Crites, for about 100 dollars or so. If you are quick with a soldering iron or gun replacing the parts is no problem. Congrats on the new purchase, once you get those puppy's up and running sit back and enjoy. 200 for the speakers than about 100 for parts = 300 for a nice pair of Heresies is a good deal in my book. duder
