  1. maxg: Do you like the accuphase amp? Why do you want to replace it?
  2. PhiH: I was asking the comparison between RC-7 (using as mains with rotated horn) and RF-5 ? I do understand that the RF-7 is be better than the RF5 by default. Thanks This message has been edited by YC on 06-15-2001 at 03:20 PM
  3. Some more questions: 1. How did the RC-7 pair compare with the RF-5s in the audition? Which pair do you prefer better as mains? 2. What are the min impedence of the RF7/RF5 and RC-7? 3. Will the new RF series be submitted to any professional review (like Stereophile or Audio Critic)? I am very curious to know more technical measurements, any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.
  4. Can I use a pair of RC-7 as the main speakers? What should I expect from using the RC-7 as main in vertical position, will that mess up all the freq response and the directivity? Did anyone try this at Klipsch? Please let me know. Thanks
  5. Hi Ray: May I know the size of your listening room?
  6. I think there is a reason that the RF3 is the long time number one seller and it is becasue it is UNDER-PRICED in compare to the other on the market (see, I am totally agree with you here). Simply due to the obvious price/performance ratio, almost everyone with ear can make the obvious choices and Klipsch is also making good money on the massive scale of sale. I think I am just naive thinking that Klipsch is willing to continue this practice and use its technology again to under-cut the market again. I do agree with price increase, but I thought the increase could be more modest (please consider the shared components between the 2 models) and there could be a choice to either select vinyl or wood veener. So people on tight budget could also enjoy the latest advance of technology. I will surely go to audition the new line. May be the new horn and the new Monster cable can completely change my view. So Klipsch do believe in Monster Cable!
  7. Since the RF3 and RF5 shares the same woofer and tweeter driver, similar dimension and weight (56vs60), I wonder what will justify the price jump of $700. I think the major cost increase is on the real wood veener. The previous promise of a stronger woofer is gone. Well there is a new horn, but I don't think the new horn will actully cost $10 more than the old RF3 horns. It seems the RF5 is mainly a dressed up RF3. Due to the huge similarities between the 2 model, I thinks Klipsch should use the RF5 to replace RF3 (and enjoy a price hike to $1000) and add preimum to people who actully want wood veener. I think Klipsch is really trying to cash on the success of the RF3 this time. No wonder BobG, JimG all prasing the launch of the RF7 but keeping the RF5 to a low profile in the previous threads. I may be wrong. What do you think?
  8. I think digital amp is already in the High-End arena. There are at least two more: 1. Tact (backed by NAD, just think about the implication here) at www.tactaudio.com, very expensive and class A listing in the Stereophile mag(I may be wrong on this). 2. The Spectron at www.spectronav.com, from the original infinity founder. Tact is highly praised in the British Hi-Fi mags. You can aslo find the reviews of the Spectron amp in www.audioreview.com.
  9. this one is called class T. See www.tripath.com for further informatin, the tripath chip set is the engine of the Bel Canto amp. I believe the digital amp will direct the future of the amp design, simply due to the decrease in weight, heat and size with the efficency >90%. This is especially true for nowadays multchannel home theater environment. Although the digital amp is not at its prime time at this moment, it does eliminate the cross over distortion in the class A/B amp design and this make it approach class A SET amp design. Of cause, all this assume the amp operates with min jitter, good output filter, excellent dithers and so on. In addition, digital amp also provide basis for the full end to end digital chain music reproduction. In theory the chip set can be designed to take the digital output from CD player and drive the speaker directly. Digital signal processing can also be used to do EQ on amplitude and phase. This will natually lead to digital crossover and multi-amp configuration. I speculate Klipsch's purchase of Aragon will have something to do with this design in the future.
  10. I am here in the same situation as yours. I am waiting for the new klipsch line and also considering the Paradigm for the exact same reason. With the retailing price range between $1400 and $2200, Klipsch will be facing stiff competition from the "built like a tank" Canadian here, especially they are now shutting down all internet and mail order sites which willing to offer discount prices. I wish klipsch will be willing to put strong bracing and higher quality construction to fend off the long debating quality issue of the KLF line. Klipsch need to take notes here: Here are the potential and knowledgeable customers willing to pay for qualify products, please put the value in speakers to show that the American make is head and shoulder ahead of the Canadian make in both sound quality and construction quality. So we customers can make clear and obvious choice.
  11. Hi boa12 and bobG: You say the lower woofer has higher output, is that the same for both speaker? I was very tempted to buy the RF-3 a month ago, but since the news of the RF5 broke out, I am willing to hold off for a few months. BTW, my new house won't be completed till the middle of this year, it might be just the right timing for me. Another question for BobG, from the information I have read, the RF-5 probably will has a tweeter/woofer crossover at below 1K, is that true? Please entertain. Thanks
  12. This is a question for BobG. Is it the same horn being used in the coming RF5 and RF7 model? If not, what is frequency response of the horn in the RF5? What is the "tappered" cross-over being mentioned in the new models? BTW is there any plan to introduce digital amplifier and active cross-over (or pure digital chain from any digital source to home EQ to digital cross-over to amp speaker) in the future product since you guy just purphase the aragon? Please entertain.
  13. An interesting review we all know well before. http://www.tnt-audio.com/casse/klipsch-rf3_e.html
