  1. This is still available, a very nice amp.
  2. It was occasionally and intermittently losing all power. The technician at Emotiva re-soldered some connections to repair the problem as well giving the unit a complete checkup.
  3. This is now sold XPA-2 Gen 1, no scratches or flaws, beautiful mint condition. This is just back from Emotiva where it was completely gone through, cleaned and serviced and still has a short servicing warranty. It looks great and is in extremely nice mint condition, I can't see a single flaw anywhere. Sounds excellent. It is a Gen 1 with new style Gen 2 black trim pieces installed, I will also include the original silver Gen 1 trim pieces. I have the original double boxes and packaging for shipping. Comes with cord, extra silver trim pieces, in original packaging. Price is $650.00 plus actual shipping costs or can be picked up locally in Orange county California. Please note shipping on these very heavy beasts is very expensive. I paid $160.00 just to ship it to Emotiva in Tennessee from California. It's a great amp and in beautiful flawless condition!
  4. I am the original owner of my RF-5's which I bought about 20 years ago, they still look like new and sound even better. I've always enjoyed the sound of my RF-5's and as I've upgraded my system over the years my RF-5's are the only thing that I haven't changed they just keep sounding much better along with the other upgrades I have made. I've made a lot of changes to my system and done a lot of upgrading but my RF-5's just sound more amazing with the upgrades. The RF-5's are a very well balanced and natural sounding speakers that work so well for both 2 channel and home theater. For music they can have a very nice live sound, with incredible detail and great bass, they are great sounding speakers. Some people will complain about them being bright or fatiguing and if they aren't well paired to other equipment or set up properly they definitely can be, but when they are paired and adjusted well they will sound very natural, beautiful and amazing. Great speakers!
  5. I've had a few interested replies on these but still no buyer, it's an excellent preamp.
  6. ***********************************SOLD*************************************** For sale XSP-1 Gen 2 excellent condition, remote and power cable, will ship double boxed in original Emotiva boxes and packaging. The XSP-1 Gen 2 is an excellent great sounding 2 channel all analog preamp with HT bypass. The HT bypass makes it an excellent 2 channel musical upgrade to an existing home theater system or just use as a stand alone 2 channel system. $650.00 plus actual shipping cost or local pickup in Orange county California.
  7. Thanks guys, also the XSP-1 has a feature I really like the "HT BYPASS" so you can easily add the all analog stereo preamp to a home theater system for a nicer stereo music system combined with you home theater system. It's a great way to improve the music quality and to either add a nice DAC or turn table. BTW I love the XSP-1 and it sounds amazing in my system, I am only selling this as I had an opportunity to buy an XSP-1 gen 2 and did.
  8. No Longer Available Very mint condition XSP-1 gen 1 for sale. This is about as close to new as they come. 9. Definitely not an RF-5.
  10. You are looking at the wrong ad, the link changed and now shows RF-3 cabinet without speakers, the original is a complete speaker and is definitely an RF-7 and not an RF-3 easy to tell from the pic by looking at the horn. Here is the new link https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-of-Klipsch-RF-3-Main-Stereo-Speakers/323697923485?epid=69608569&hash=item4b5de6559d:g:RfwAAOSwfeZcX2y-:rk:1:pf:0
  11. For music my MHDT NOS tube DAC was one of my favorite things I've ever added to my system, such an awesome musical sound. I now own two, an MHDT Havana and an MHDT balanced Stockholm both sound so sweet, detailed and musical. I've done a little tube rolling to refine their sound. Here they are This is the balanced MHDT Stockholm Here is the MHDT Havana
  12. Let me add this is not far from where I live and this is an area that prices are always higher than most. We never get the deals you see elsewhere and Klipsch speakers are always selling at their highest prices plus around here, bargains are pretty much non existent. The last RSW-15 I saw listed in Craig's List near me was for $1,200 and did not have a grill.
  13. I live in Southern California, used Klipsch speakers are almost always priced at the high here, we rarely get the deals I see elsewhere.
  14. No cause of death has been stated. Unfortunately I know he had just recently within maybe a week or so had been taken into custody for his own protection as he was intoxicated and suicidal, this seems very close timing so suicide may be the cause, nothing has been said.
  15. Verne Troyer, Mini Me of Austin Powers has passed away at 49 RIP
  16. Harry Anderson comedian, magician and best known as the star of Night Court has passed away at 65. RIP Harry
  17. For those interested in buying an Oppo 205, Oppo is making another run of them so you can still buy one, They are expected to be available in June and you can register to buy on their site. https://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-udp-205/
  18. Yes I also use a processor (Emotiva XMC-1) for HT 7.2 channel and a pre-amp (Emotiva XSP-1) for 2.2 channel both use the same front tower speakers and subs. The XSP-1 has HT bypass to provide switching. The XSP-1's crossover has no Hz markings on its dials but I prefer its lowest setting which is probably around 40 Hz I'm guessing. For HT I have done extensive testing I use both of my subwoofers built in EQ systems, on my XMC-1 I use Dirac EQ which I like much better than Audyssey, I use a boom mic stand for the microphones at their various locations and also my own SPL meter but it has been Identical to that with Dirac. I have done extensive testing and comparisons as to what sounds best to me, especially for the most authentic and natural sound my goal is the most realism. I have tested and compared every crossover setting in my system 80Hz and below. I definitely prefer my crossovers set below 80 Hz, as I have made changes to my system over the years this has probably averaged around 60Hz as a rule. My current preferred being Front mains set at 50 Hz and the center and 4 surrounds all at set at 60 Hz. This is what I am using after considerable comparisons and testing and I do find that crossover settings make a considerable difference. I will always run my speakers at SMALL, the SMALL/LARGE label is misleading it would be better labeled SUBWOOFER/NO SUBWOOFER as it has nothing to do with the size of the speaker it enables the crossover so you can fine tune your speakers to your subwoofer. I have done considerable testing, comparisons, tweaking to find what makes me like the sound of my system best.
  19. First dollars and crossover settings have nothing in common. Second 20kHz is completely wrong, your speakers have internal crossovers which the manufacturer fine tuned to blend your woofers and tweeters, this has big effect on the sound of the speaker. You should be using a subwoofer crossover to blend your subwoofer with your woofer(s) not your tweeter(s) and the woofer(s) are limited to much lower than 20 kHz, not that that mattered much. Would you remove your speakers internal crossovers? No, I would not recommend it. But this is basically what you do to the crossover between your speakers and subwoofer when you select running your speakers as LARGE. When you run your speakers as SMALL you enable the crossover to fine tune the blend between your subwoofer(s) and speakers to get the best match between them. You want the subwoofer to blend seamlessly together with the speakers an extension of their bass you do not want the subwoofer to stand out on its own but to have a seamless blend. Speakers which have a very good low bass of their own will normally benefit with a lower crossover setting and will benefit with lower than 80 Hz. Using an 80 Hz crossover on good low bas speakers is like trying to make them sound like Bose cubes, the difference between a main speakers low bass at 50 Hz and 80 Hz is very significant, a crossover of 80 Hz is better for smaller speakers which are not vary capable of low bass on their own. Smaller speakers and tiny satellite speakers usually will need a crossover of about 80 Hz-120 Hz. Speakers which produce excellent low bass of their own usually will benefit more like somewhere between 40 Hz and 70 Hz. with the subwoofer taking over for the very lowest Hz. Low Hz becomes non directional to the human ear at some point as it gets lower, this varies among people and their hearing, you want the subwoofer to crossover below this level. There is also a matter of the speaker and subwoofer tones as well. The subwoofer and speakers should seamlessly blend together so you do not hear where the speakers and subwoofers bass blends. I can usually hear whether bass coming from a speaker or subwoofer down to about 60 Hz for some people this can be higher than 80 Hz as everyone's hearing is different. I hate to hear when the sound is coming from the subwoofer and not the speakers. This is where fine tuning the crossover comes in to make that seamless blend and this will vary by the system as well as personal preferences and hearing. But when using a subwoofer the speakers should be set to SMALL so that you can use the crossover to fine tune the speaker and subwoofer mating and blending. The lower the crossover is set the more it is similar to running them in LARGE but using SMALL gives you more control of the blending, because it is enacting the crossover. Normally use the receivers/processors crossover and not the subwoofers, set the subwoofer crossover to it's highest setting or LFE etc. You do not use the speakers lowest Hz rating usually a little higher than this works best and as always experiment to find what sounds best.
  20. There is a huge difference in sound between a crossover setting of 60 or 80 hz, personally I think 80 hz is far too high for any speaker that has good bass capability Currently with my XMC-1 processor my fronts - RF-5's are set to 50 hz, my center - RC-7 is set to 60 hz, rear & side surrounds - RS-7's are both set to 60 hz, this is from a lot of testing and experimentation and I like the bass to be coming from these speakers rather than my subwoofers down to these levels I can hear the bass in these locations rather than a more generalized subwoofer location, while many feel that low hz cannot be localized lower than around 80 hz it can to some I'd say my drop off is more like 60 hz, and besides localization at around 60 hz I do prefer the sound of my speakers over my subwoofers. As far as Audyssey it's been a few years since I've done anything with that but years ago Chris Kyriakakis the founder of Audyssey said that Audyssey was not responsibe for changing the speaker settings at SMALL/LARGE when Audyssey was run, it was something that was being controlled by the receiver/processor maker and not Audyssey itself and if running Audyssey set the speakers to LARGE to go back and re-set them to SMALL if a subwoofer was being used and to correctly set the crossover settings. This was several years ago I forget what version of Audyssey was current then and it may be different with newer forms of Audyssey. Anyway I have always preferred a SMALL speaker setting with a subwoofer and with my speakers a lower crossover setting, 80 hz does not allow my speakers to reach the low bass they sound so wonderful at. Setting speakers to SMALL gives you more control and allows you to match the crossover to your speakers/subwoofer and where they blend together well. When mated well you should never hear where the sound is coming from the subwoofer, it should blend flawlessly with your speakers enhancing them to their lowest abilities and then taking over seemlessly.
  21. Not at all, it makes a huge difference to be able to properly match the crossover to the speaker and to have the ability to match the crossover at each speaker mains/ center and surrounds rather than just one generalized crossover is a very good improvement. Of course systems vary but generally your mains are usually capable of going much lower than your surrounds and if so your mains should not be limited by the surrounds and 5-20 hz in crossover settings can make a lot of difference. I am all for proper setup but I haven't seen any auto calibration system that can do it perfectly. I use auto calibration, my own SPL meter, my own ears and lots of experience and experimentation with my system to achieve the most authentic and realistic sound.
