  1. This is if you have a combined crossover, separate crossovers for each group of speakers center/mains/surrounds etc. are much more common now where a compromise is not needed. The crossover however should be adjusted to best match the speaker or speakers it will be controlling.
  2. I'd use small to turn on the crossover when using a sub, but 70 hz is too high a crossover setting, probably something more like around 50-55 hz, experiment with different crossover settings start from 40 hz and go up to see where you like it best. Use the crossover on your preamp and not on the sub.
  3. Just think how long that video seems to a hummingbird.
  4. They are also the only bird that can fly backward, as well as fly side to side and hover.
  5. Dean first I highly recommend MHDT Labs DAC's for excellent stereo analog music. Beautiful sound which brings together the best of digital and vinyl. I own two an MHDT Havana and a balanced MHDT Stockholm BTW, I've heard a lot of bad things about the sound of the Sabre DAC in the Oppo 205, for stereo analog it supposedly has a very overly bright sound. I have never heard the Oppo 205 I am just repeating what I've read. This is the balanced MHDT Stockholm Also Panasonic has what looks like a very nice flagship blu-ray player that they may soon bring to the US market, the Panasonic UB9000 . https://hdguru.com/panasonic-might-bring-new-flagship-4k-ultra-hd-blu-ray-player-here/ https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarcher/2018/01/06/panasonic-unveils-new-4k-blu-ray-players-including-world-first-dolby-vision-and-hdr10-support/#71da5d306808
  6. With the high demand after the announcement Oppo is already out of stock of the 205 and getting low on the 203. I am not sure but I believe Oppo will continue production until about June. If you wish to buy one you probably should jump at the chance when and while you can.
  7. Depends on how nice you want, sure you can spend lots more which is something I prefer to do, but you can also get inexpensive learning remotes which start at less than $12.
  8. You would be better off buying a better universal remote which could control the Oppo and much more and better.
  9. This is very surprising, I will miss them developing new products. I am glad I have a very nice 203
  10. I had 2 Schwinn Varsity 10 speeds the first was bright yellow, it was stolen as I was riding home from work, a summer job at a auto body shop in the summer between 7th & 8th grade I was pushed off the bike at a traffic signal and mugged for it by several kids. One pushed me off the bike and ran with it around a corner to an alley where about five more of his friends were. My second Varsity was a metallic root beer brown.
  11. About the time I was in kindergarten or maybe just before the homes across the street from my home started to be removed to build the 91 FWY in California, it made for a great huge field and playground growing up. I rode my minibike on the freeway both as dirt and as the finished freeway before it was opened for use. The freeway opened for use when I was in the 7th grade.
  12. I pretty much always had Lincoln Logs, slot cars, a Schwinn stingray bike or later 10 speed bike but they always had to be Schwinn. I also later had a very slick one of a kind custom made chopper style mini bike probably did about 40-45 MPH, it was a little bit larger than the typical mini bike and had very long extended front forks and a sissy bar on back, complete chopper style.

This is another of my watches, it is a Citizen Eco-Drive it is solar powered and charges itself on either sun or other light. This is my most expensive watch (around $300), although this was an xmas gift I received 2 years ago.

This is commonly called a "machine turned" finish, it can be accomplished using a mill and a wide variety of spinning tools, such as wood dowels, rubber, wire bristles, leather, sand paper rolls and so on and normally either an oil or lapping compound is used. It can definitely create a very beautiful finish when done well.
  15. The RF-5's are efficient speakers and will work very well without much power. That said the RF-5's do love more power and really come to another level when they get it the bass becomes much hard hitting and with a great quick punch and instruments have better separation. Before going with separate amplification I had used my RF-5's with a couple different top end receivers which were rated at 120 and 130 watts per channel they both sounded excellent but my XPA-2's 300 wpc really made a very nice difference to sound quality bringing on an extra authority to the bass that the receivers just did not deliver along with the better separation and greater detail. My MHDT Havana NOS tube DAC was such a perfect fit with the RF-5's I really fell in love with the match they made, the MHDT is just such a musical DAC that is very detailed but has an extremely musical sound not analytical, definitely one of my favorite system upgrades I've ever made. With the MHDT the RF-5's have such beautiful detail and not even the slightest bit of any overly bright or harshness at all, a very natural and beautiful live sound.
  16. What other components are you using with your RF-5's? The RF-5's can be amazing speakers when paired with other components that are well mated to them. I have owned mine for around 18 years and absolutely love their sound. They can sound so natural, accurate and musical when they are used with well mated equipment. One of the best things I did for my RF-5's musically was when I added my MHDT Labs Havana tube DAC to my system, the combo is heaven.

I agree with T2K about cell phones, while I have a nice Samsung Galaxy s7, I don't let it run my life and I really rarely use it as a phone or for texting and I don't really use it all that much, mostly to keep up on email when away from home and it also is connected to my home automation and home security systems and for some apps. I prefer my privacy so for the most part if someone wants to call me they can call me on my home phone which is a Ooma VoIP phone , I rarely answer my cell, it's a tool for me and I don't want to be bothered by it. I did use a cell phone for business in the 90's before most people even had cell phones, but I don't use a cell phone for business anymore. I like wrist watches, I have four of them I currently switch between and I like all four, they are each about $125 to $300 in price. Two run by battery, one is a Citizen Eco-Drive which is solar/light powered and one is self winding. This is my latest I just bought recently, a Seiko 5, this one is self winding and has a clear window in back to view it's works. This one was about $130, I like it very much.

    What I Got Today!

The non switched outlets are always ON, switched outlets can be controlled to use the 12v trigger to turn them ON/OFF.
  19. Dick Van Dykes brother Jerry has passed away at 86 RIP Probably one of and maybe my very first favorite TV show as a very young child was My Mother the Car I was too young to even remember much of anything about the show, just that it was one of my first favorites and I've always liked Jerry.
  20. I still do absolutely love my RF-5's, love their sound and they are the perfect size for me. I have learned to find components that really make the RF-5's sound their best and really do absolutely love the way they can sound when well matched. The RF-5's really do love my MHDT tube DAC's a beautiful sounding pairing. One odd thing I've noticed my RF-5's have a watt rating of 250 watts on their original Klipsch serial number ID stickers, not the 150 watts as some others do. Maybe a Klipsch change of specs or something. Emotiva has used two different specs on my amps as well, rating my XPA-2 at first 250 WPC and then later I think they started to rate it 300 WPC. Anyway it doen't really matter as that is a continuous max rating and the RF-5's love more power. But as for an RF-3 and RF-5 comparison, I think the RF-5's really are a significant upgrade.
  21. Definitely a better deal going through Amazon right now, in the past when I have compared it was the same, either way they come from the same place GLS Audio they are local to me maybe 15 minutes from where I live here in Orange county California. With Amazon Prime (which I have) the shipping is free, without Amazon Prime there might be a shipping charge through Amazon I am not sure but buying them direct from GLS Audio I know shipping is free. Anyway good catch, too bad the promo code can't be used with Amazon.
  22. Here is a new 15% off promo code for GLS Audio if anyone wants some bananas. promo code 15PC1217 ends Wednesday 12-20-2017
  23. Great sub, very musical. I own one and really love it. They are also a compact and excellent looking sub. I'd have a hard time passing on this if I was local.
