  1. And I believe he still has them ALL working in his system!
  2. My current receiver is an Onkyo TX-NR900, my last two receivers have been Onkyo's and I have been very happy with them.
  3. Actually upgrading your video card is probably a very good idea and will most likely make a considerable difference. You most likely are using an AGP card, I would recommend a Nvidia 7600 GS video card.
  4. Great choice! I have the RW-12d and love it, it is great with music or home theater and hits very hard. More musical than many other subs I have heard. I returned an HSU sub I did not like it's sound with music. The digital controls are very handy, I use my URC MX-850 remote to control my sub and it automatically switches the sub for music or home theater settings which is very handy!
  5. Yes your set may benefit from an upconverting DVD player since it is CRT, LCD and plasma have fixed native resolutions and up/down convert all incoming signals to their fixed native resolution so they do the upconverting in the display whether the DVD player does or not. But a high definition DVD player will upconvert STD DVD's and give you the benefit of high definition DVD as well. Both HDMI and component are high quality cables for picture quality, sometimes it is actually better to use component cable instead of HDMI, usually with tuners (cable/satelite boxes) component is a better choice since HDMI has "digital handshake" issues.
  6. Hmmmm, I just noticed that in the speaker pages Klipsch has moved the RF-7, RF-5 and RC-7 (probably some others as well) back onto the Current Products pages and not the Discontinued Products pages where they have been...... does this mean they will be available again??
  7. Thanks G2, I would not bother with an upconverting DVD player, the TV will do the upconverting for you if you already have a good DVD player preferably one with component outputs. You would be better off going straight to a high definition player. Blu-ray of coarse is now the choice however some people are picking up HD-DVD since it is also great with STD DVD and there are excellent deals on both players and HD-DVD movies now. HD-DVD might be a better choice than an upconverting STD DVD plaver if you don't want to go with Blu-ray yet. I have the Panasonic DMP-BD10A Blu-ray player and I am very happy with it, the newer BD30 would be a great choice! My display is a 50 inch TH-50PH9UK Panasonic professional plasma display, with RF-5's in front, RC-7 center and four RS-3 surrounds with an RW-12d sub.
  8. WOW G2, I am surprised the RC-7 fit in that stand, the specs say 7 inches for the shelve height, I know my RC-7 is 9 inches tall. Looks like maybe their height was limited by the support beam for the glass and you did not have to run your RC-7 back far enough to be under that beam. Does the RC-7 have to "hang off" the shelf any to fit there?, I couldn't tell from your picture. It looks nice, I think your next upgrade should be a 50 inch plasma display, it would fit very well there.
  9. Hmmm by the looks of that picture he would probably be even MORE peeved, because his pet peed.
  10. I have found that leaving the dead corpses of the previous people who leaned on, touched or set something on the speakers, still on the floor near the speakers usually works to fend off other offenders. Seriously I would not hesitate to tell anyone to please NOT do this to the property I value. In my opinion the speakers look their best without anything on top of them. I think you do have your speakers in a pretty high traffic area, you will be much better off when you have the dedicated home theater room where the speakers should not be very accessible to that kind of mis-treatment.
  11. The RC-7 is a perfect match for the RF-5's, this is what I have and they are absolutely perfect together.
  12. Looks like a nice starter system, spend some time here on the forum and I am sure you will get the urge to upgrade.
  13. Saturday funny car driver Scott Kalitta was killed in an awful crash. His car traveling at 300 mph burst into flames just before the finish line and it seemed as if he never even braked as his car continued down the track with an explosive impact at the end of the track. Best wishes to the Kalitta family.
  14. I use the X-plosion sound card from Azuentech, they make very nice quality soundcards. I use optical digital out to my receiver, they also have very high quality analog outputs available. Sound quality is excellent. http://www.auzentech.com/site/products/x-plosion_cinema.php
  15. This site has great terminations at very good prices. I use their "Safe-Connect" banana the quality was excellent. http://www.speakerrepair.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=AHH_Banana
  16. I just recently upgraded to the RC-7 from an RC-3, I have a pair of RF-5s in the front and 4 RS-3's for the rear. I couldn't be happier with my new RC-7 the sound is much better, clearer vocals and better bass and it is the perfect match with my RF-5's. Plus I really like having the real wood also, that alone was an excellent upgrade, now all 3 front speakers look and sound beautiful.
  17. Also I have found an excellent quality banana plug for speaker wires that is very reasonably priced. These are beautiful quality, I just replaced all of the ends of my speaker cables with these the quality was much better than I expected. They provide a quality tight connection and look beautiful, I was worried at first that the quality wouldn't be good but it was excellent. http://www.speakerrepair.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BR28&Category_Code=safe_connect Note this link is for a 28 pack, they offer a lot of other quantity packages as well. While these are not exactly cheap they are very inexpensive compared to similar banana plugs.
  18. No Doubt, album - Rock Steady: "Hey Baby" and "Underneath It All" Linkin Park, album - Meteora: "Numb" These all have excellent hard hitting powerful bass that will really showoff a good subwoofer.
  19. I used Creative Labs Extigy with Windows XP with no problems it worked great and provided excellent sound quality. However Extigy has no drivers for Windows Vista, I now have a dual boot XP and Vista computer and had to go with another sound card since Extigy does not work with Vista. Extigy is an external USB sound card, I connected it to my reciever with a digital Toslink cable.
  20. mariode, I also have the RW-12d, its a great sub! It sounds great works well with both music and home theater. I am running it with 2 RF-5s, an RC-7 and 4 RS-3s and it works very well with this combo. I also like the digital controls and I do use my remote with the sub it works great and I really like the convenience of controlling the sub by remote. When I play music my remote will automatically switch the sub to music mode, when I watch something on TV my remote will automatically switch the sub to movie mode. I have great control of the subs controls with my remote, I use it with a URC MX-850 remote. So I am very happy with the RW-12d in every way and I have no dislikes. BTW before buying the RW-12d I bought an HSU STF-2 sub, I had heard a lot of good things about HSU subs. I returned the HSU after a week I just did not like its sound musically. I am really happy I returned the HSU the RW-12d is worlds better!
  21. Your remote won't be able to "download" the codes to your remote, however it could most likely learn the codes from another remote. Maybe you can locate someone with a remote that can get the codes and use that remote to use teach your learning remote the codes.
  22. I wrote Klipsch and received an email with the available codes. If you give me your email I can send you the codes. I use a URC MX-850 remote and the codes worked great for me, I also have an RW-12D. Here is the message that I recieved from Klipsch along with the codes: Hello, The IR codes attached only work with select learning type remotes. The Philips Pronto, RTI brand and Universal brand, if you have a programmable type of remote, the type that takes 3-4 digit codes, then the manufacturer is responsible for getting you the code. I will attach the codes and information I have available. UEI manufactured remotes, http://www.uei.com, under products you should notice the One-For-All, the Kameleon, and the Nevo. The code that should work for these brand remotes is 1991 for the IR Reference subs. Please note this is for all UEI remotes only. If you have a Logitech Harmony remote add the Device in your Harmony software in the following manner. Add Device, choose Amplifier, choose Amplifier the second time, and choose Klipsch from the Manuf. listing, then type in the model just as they are below for the model you own. RW-10d RW-12d RSW-10d RT-10d RT-12d When replying to this email, please include the original message and all replies.
