Mine (circa '83 5/8 MDF 8G cabs) are plastic (or maybe some form of fiberglass /ed) angle brackett. They are either 'in the shed somewhere' or still in place at the port and sealed up behind 1" mdf. If they indeed 'got out' and I can find them, I'll get the dims/ mounting hole offsets for you. I *do* have the original port tuning boards. MC, how many do you ultimately need?

Found the pic, eh, not too bad after all... Orientation is accurate, notice foot t-nut on the bottom left corner. * or maybe not... the posting, cropped the photo... anyway, it's accurate.

I think I have a pic somewhere. Will look tonight. Backs are not removeable, so you will have to go in through the woofer, and of course it's not a straight shot through the center of the hole, so may be fiddley to do if a less than ideal work area. I had a similar thought, but that, and/or that I didn't want to muck up the XO stopped me. Pic will tell more.

Excellent, seems they are probably a different pair than the ones I came across. I make my own, using whatever double bananas from PE or Radio Shack. PE also has jumbo 1/4" plugs. They are a bit more roomy, thus more easilly reassembled than standard ones. I see something called 'megafoot' there now, which is probably what I have/am referring to. If backing them up to a wall is the plan, then you might want to go with one of the right angle plugs though. I've seen 1/4" inputs maligned as less than ideal for higher power applications. I don't have any particular opinion (other than, that redundance might assuage connection issues caused by a dirty/loose jack). To that end I've considered consider making a hard wired double headed one, in order to utilize both jacks as inputs.

Assuming I've found the ones in question, they look a little rough to me. As if the back is cracked in on at least one, from some impact. There was a guy down this way, selling a bunch of them for ~$100/ea., but being was evasive about details other than 'need work' type statements. Can't find the ad again, so I wonder if these are examples from that larger set.

* One thing that has been reported about them, the metal grille are held in place in a 'slot'. (To remove them, you take off the top or bottom(?) trim piece/s, then slide the grille up, out of the 'slot'). As such, when in place, they are pressed forward, by foam bits, stuck at strategic points (e.g. the lips of the tweeter). The foam is dry rotted, so no longer presses, so the metal grille may rattle with use. Expect to replace the foam bits so that this is not an issue. (or, just remove the grilles if that is feasible).

They are pretty stout IMO and seem to take EQ pretty well, though I don't use mine much. They will be 'heavy' (~90lbs) by comparison, mostly due to the VMR imo. I was going to use some as guitar cabs at one point, but they are a little too much for that. The corners will hurt your foot if you drop them on it. There are probably better modern options in that regard,for PA use. I have no basis for comparison with heresy's. $200/pair is good, if in good shape. If beat, eh, depends on what is beat. If they are VG cosmetically, I'd probably be a buyer at some point down the road. I do make it to southern vt now and then. * Do make sure they are "S15-3". There are many models with similar numbers, that may or may not be physically similar (S-1503, S-1502 are not the same thing, etc.)

- as mentioned, K33 vs K43 -if they have only ever lived in thier current spots, then the room may be the factor? - I have been told that the pro/indistrial versions were stouter and better braced (perhaps as a result of the trim) than the consumer versions. In my case, the discussion was per LSI splits, but the comment was not directed specifically at splits afair. Last I contacted Klipsch about it, they could not provide the angled (steel) pieces for my split's trapezoids, but I believe there are many suggestions out there for the aluminum trim. This shows DizRotus' pair which were rehabbed fora band room. I like it. Simlarly, it's always fun to discuss the 'Aphex Aural Exciter' in public. I have one of the late 70's (Columbia?) loss leader LP's, 'Deep Ear', replete with risque cartoon graphics. Perhaps it went something like this: (à la Stan Freberg) producer: So, we need a cover for Deep Ear. graphics guy: umm, ok. You mean like the movie? producer: yup graphics guy: umm, ok, so, um.. how about a ...big ear producer: yes, hmm, ok graphics guy: ...that looks like a #####? producer: brilliant. Lunch?

I prefer head/cab arrangements for transport and variety, and backup. Of course, the question may be: what are they plugging it into that causes it to keep blowing up. Maybe a lesson in paralell vs series is in order. :-) (or maybe the cab is the better place to investigate?). Or maybe TE's just blow up. :-) Getting out of my range of technical expertise.

You might also investigate threads on the Peavey MB-1 and MB-2 to that end. 12" drivers for them IIRC. I had the MB-2...

It's not a full range driver, but perhaps the horns are suitable for the experiment, I think the eff. rating should do for you... gAr reminds me of GWAR. People will sign up expecting you to shoot koolaid out of a cannon while in some sort of 'where the wild things are' costume. Of course, there might just be a market for that somewhere. :-) gRa-volti audio rolls off the tounge a bit better than gAr-volti, and IMO sounds more italian. (understanding, that;s not the goal, but if it's going to sound like something... might as well go for it) Greg Roberts Audio GRA may also be a prefix, romance-languae wise, meaning 'greater'. Not much chance of me coming to get them, but I'd be curious to know about the VOTT stuff. Are they fiberboard/mdf/whatever we call it, or ply?

I'd considered painting a set of my 511b's. I was on track to take them to an auto-body shop or similar and ask them (about blasting and repainting). My expectation was that they would have used 'powder coat' paint ('powdercoating'), which (should be) the electro-static plastic-paint that they then bake. IIRC. (The metal is charged one way, the paint the other, it sticks, they bake it and it adheres and cures) The next question for them is 'does it have to be e.g. ferrous metal, or will aluminum or plastic/fiberglass work' I got off track and did not follow though. Sorry! The heresy's horn is simpler and more shallow (than my K400 or 511B) ? So it might just be possible with spray paint and dexterity. (Now I have visions of somebody in their garage with a battery charger and a can of spray paint...)
