  1. Well heres the problem with the store. I went to various stores, as far as sacramento which is hella far for here. Sadly, the e400 is the most common sony stock, the g400 took a while to find, but no luck on getting the chumps at the store to do anything but up the res a minor kink. Around here though, honest, viewsonic, except old arse ones are a pain to find. Guess its just a local deal. Honestly, I wish I could see both, I checked all the online reviews, and I checked magazines, etc. Simply I trust the people here more than I do most of the people on some of the reviews because I'm after picture quality and not value. I mean, price matters, but I'm not seeking a tag on the usb ports and etc, that comes with it. A lot of the reviews are for one model below to, simply I know some people have done similar research and are experienced. Im on the limited college budget and a monitor is a rare buy for me. So I just want to be sure, not that I don't want to go to the store. K. Thats all.
  2. Well I reached the common problem. That is. What monitor. The 19" trin sony cpd-g400, or the viewsonic pf795 19" monitor. I got a budget of about 600.00. The sony's a bit cheaper, but I'm going for quality, especially for dvd, and especially for full rez dvd 1600x1200 85hz. That simple. So which one?
  3. Awesome Possum. I'll probably wait a tad till they release mx model of the geforce3. It'd be nice. But I wouldn't fork above 275.00. Even thats a bit extreme on a college budget. CSU Chico. But its all good. PS michigan kicks arse. I was touring round royal oak and such a bit back by myself for a tad and it was hella fun. I hope to go back there again soon.
  4. Out of curiousity? If doing a promedia 6.2 setup? 2.1 + 4.1. Does it matter if the center is on the monitor, or is it better to have a wider field with the centers (2 speaks) right next to the sides of the monitor and the surrounds further out? Which is better? Any knowledge or recs?
  5. Paragon, do you own the g500? I know thats like 900 or something. Man I wish I could own that sucker.
  6. The monitor I saw for like 520 total with shipping and all? Did you mean over 700 for the whole deal?
  7. Also planning to get a Geforce3 once they finally make one for pc. Damn mac people. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
  8. 9. OH OH OH!!! JUST NOTICED SOMETHING! MAN I AM FORKING FOR THE G400 Trin myself hecka soon? Is it worth it? I checked all the revs nothing different though? It looks like the best bet for me and so? Hows the dvd 1600x1200 85hz deal? impressive? whats your opinion.
  10. Well, my current case is preety simple. Atx mid tower with dynamat and sliding front door. Dynamat doesn't really do anything to cut sound but stopped the darn prattling and rattling from the promedia sub. Case made a hell of a rattlin sound before. Like I said, I have a 2 year old niece who lives with me and likes to mess with my current case, with a lock, I could prevent her from sliding the door and "continuing to put pennies in my 105 16x pioneer dvd drive slot" and starting and deleting my stuff. Thats all.
  11. Is that a key lock for the sliding door. I have a sliding door on my current case but if that case has a locking sliding door that would be awesome. I have a 2 year old niece who tends to think that the pioneer 16x 105s dvd slot is great for putting pennies in and she also likes to start it up and delete stuff.
  12. In my recent efforts for finding a better tower case I noted that there are full atx towers and hydraullic full atx towers? Simply? What is a hydraullic full atx case? - Ric
  13. Just for the knowledge. Got one for sale myself, brand new, still sealed, for like 83.99 & shipping. If anybody is interested email me at skaplaya@hotmail.com .
  14. Yep Thats Right. Still got my double so I am selling the card to anybody who wants it for 85.00 + shipping. That simple. Its a great card but I don't need two. Check out www.pcsound.philips.com if you want info. Kick arse card with kickin digital hooks. Email me at skaplaya@hotmail.com if ints.
  15. I was wondering if anybody knows where I can find a g9 adapter for the ads-2000 or other g9 optional receivers. The acoustic edge 3 way din connectors are essentialy g9 just wired differently. If I can find one like that I might more easily be able to connect muliple speakers. Heck. It could happen.
  16. Good idea. It just seems klipsch might have a problem with the general consumer connectivity for other devices. But good idea.
  17. The first rule to survive a k51ep... Have a lot of money (or scrounge and scrounge every bit you can...thats right pick up them dirty pennies) The second rule to survive a k51ep... If you aren't die hard about ht sound only, get a decoder card and a real ht (receiver etc.) The third rule to survive a k51ep... If you want games and dvd hardcore...you need start macgyverin...bust out that wad for an ads-2000 or a yamaha tss-1 or a jazz dd-006 type receiver with dts and/or dobly digital but one with computer hookups. The fourth rule to survive a k51ep... Work and tweak the speaker ops on the cpu decoder to get made not downed 4 speak or macgyver with two radio shack splits and two radio shack extenders to hook the analog cons out of your card (front and rear) and the analog digital downconverted outputs from your decoder, to your sats and once, thus, 5.1 and 4.1. The fifth rule and final rule..if you just want to spend dough or are set on klipsch not the digitheare dts like me then get a pair of 2.1's for the center channel. The sixth rule and bonus rule for added fun..if you want, to get all lfe, go and get a powered sub of your choice, about 120 watter 6 inch min to kind of keep up with the klipsches but get mass low freq. My current setup: Hollywood+ mpeg-2 decoder Real magic hw+ remote control pioneer 16x slot dvd drive philips acoustic edge s-card midiland ads-2000 decoder w/ remote klipsch 2.1 promedia speaker set furniture works rb-1 speaker stands Soon Finishing Pieces: awaiting 4.1 promedia to complete awaiting modified refyoke sony g400 19" mon I hope this helps all. Note: This cost big bucks my whole set is costing over a grand w/monitor and all. For the center channel debate team, i've tested and as for games, essentially bunked worth nada in most exceptions (except some dd 5.1 games) but for dvd's there is a big difference with a "TRUE HARDWARE DECODER". None the less if your like me...it'll bring you joy but wave goodbye to your wallet..your girlfriend..or your wife...
  18. Personally after buying the acoustic edge and testing it versus my live 5.1 I definetely that sound ares not as defined in certain eax enabled environments (such as in tony hawk 2 pro skater) I enjoy the fact that philips has such great connectivity but think that pcm transmission and their midrange/midbass could be slightly more defined. However it is a far better option over the live as for the bracket + 5.1 pricing wise I feel.
  19. Of one small note though, some people overclock, tweak the fan, and mess around with their case alot and the card gets mass processor wear, and thermal damage. Thats why I mentioned the perf. condition thing. Just so you guys know.
  20. I wasn't trying for a gts or a pro. Just the 32mb mx. I just don't want one of the inno3d's or the excelseries, damn fan is loud as hell on those suckers. Trying for hercules or creative mx. There are 16mb mx oem's thats why I mentioned the deal. New acoustic edge for a used perfect condition 32mb geforce2 mx, not to much to ask I think. I am nvidia all the way and can't stand the radeon, just to let you know, but thats just me. Heck, if I had my expecs up I would ask for a wintv-d model w/remote. Now thats expecs. No hard feelings. - Ric
  21. Oddly, right after splurging - same day, and buying an acoustic edge, as a gift, I have now obtained an extra acoustic edge soundcard and would like to sell one for (85$ USD + shipping - I will also ship to canada)of them, brand new, unused. I paid a hundred and six for mine, but since I'm not a store oh well. If someone wants to trade a mint condition perfect working geforce2 (not geforece 256) 32mb min agp card then I will gladly consider the offer as a trade. Well, rock on klipsch, just figured I'd drop my two cents.
  22. Well from my experience to me...best midrange I heard was in .. Track 16 (Last Track) - Mia From MI2 Soundtrack Almost All Of Dave Matthews Live with Tim Reynolds Shined On The Midrange Also Just figured I'd drop my two cents.
  23. Pardon, what I meant to also ask was if besides the sherwood complicated car dealy, is there a way to add just dts to my system, that is on top of my ads-2000. I wouldn't believe so, but if possible how? I figure maybe in a year i'll just sell the ads-2000 and buy a large or maybe one of those 5.1 tss-1 dd 5.1 dts yamaha dealy that just came out, too bad you can't get the receiver without those crappy looking c-sound works type speakers.
  24. Heres the problemo. Looked online at 3dsoundsurge.com and all the other real realiable sites and found out the ads-2000 optical hookup (example: from a live 5.1 bracket card) cannot be hooked up at the same time as the digital coax hookup from my hw+ card. Seeing as I love my hw+, won't get rid of it, and I love the digital ads-2000, what should I do. Honestly. Should I keep my slightly busted (cracked loose front jack) live 5.1 and buy the bracket card to do an optical hook to my ads-2000 decoder. Just switch the digital hooks when I need to use it. Or Should I buy the acoustic edge and switch coax when needed. But is it possible to input my hw+ spdif to the acoustic edge and spdif output the ae to the ads-2000 without garbling the information, true ac3 like the hw+. Awww....the sweet glory of the digital pro 6.2 setup near completion. But oy, the confusion. Hope you guys can help. - Ric
