Active Crossover Question and Automation
jason str replied to seasterl's topic in Technical/Restorations
I've had a MiniDSP running for some time now, no problems. Velcroed behind the audio rack and works like a charm. -
That looks yummy. I had a little queso with my pretzels and half sandwich today and boredom sets in. Driving the family's LTD wagon over to global auto wreckers off higgins looking for a 4 barrel manifold and carb for the 383 in my custom 880, no luck. Get back in the Ford and the super sized forklift speeds in and scoops up the car by the drivers side, out comes the staff accusing me of throwing alternators over the fence. Like I need a bunch of alternators right ? They searched my car and tool box finding nothing but a lost customer for life. The u joint went out on that thing months after. Kinda sad.

If you can return it feeling scammed why don't you. That is a good stack of cash.

Subwoofer time for my Heresy II's and tube amp
jason str replied to Tom_Birmingham's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Dayton makes a slim 10, you look tight on space there. Another option use 2 subs for stands. -
This year flew by, everybody stay safe this New Year's. Just hanging at home tonight with CD's and Spotify. Already picked up all the necessaries.

Wind ripped off 2 rows of shingles over the gutter and rain and more rain. Construction and roofing contractors are on vacation around here. Try again tomorrow.

The Audio Impact of Solar Panels and Battery Backup

I have one, it's modified. Nirvana Electronic Works. Too dark for a picture right now. -
Sounds like those old Pyramid car audio amplifier watt rating.

Highly unlikely it's the cabinet material, glue joint a leak test would have found maybe. Check the tinsel leads on the woofer being too long and rubbing during high power. Loose wires tapping the cabinet. Glue joints though model is not known for having any. These are the normal things anyway.

Not worth spending any money repairing this piece.

Audiophiles in Japan are installing their own electricity poles

Probably installing knob and tube again too, more separation and depth. -
I have 2 copies, both vinyl. Went looking for it earlier on CD but ended up using Spotify.

Trying to edit my poor writing skills.

Hairline crack on passive or unglued cone from basket will act the same way. Good luck in the search.
-
Trying to save you some steps, pull the woofer and find nothing you will be right back to square one likely repairing stripped screw holes along the way.
-
Check for air leaks before you remove anything. Get some vacuum line 3/16 or so 5 ft more or less. Burn a 20-25 Hz frequency and get the cone moving a bit and with one end of the hose to your ear fish for leaks around the cabinet. If you don't find anything the woofer or other may be the cause.

Hoarder eh? If you absolutely need more speakers Hifi shark will be your best friend, just google and search.

If it never gets hot it could be a return, if it never gets hot you answered your own question. Unless it's blowing heat right at it it's nothing to worry about.

Need something better than KG4s

Forte is a great choice, if you like loud or filling a bigger room Chorus series may be worth a wait. -
KG3 Repair of 8" woofer .... glue used?
jason str replied to Silhouette1957's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Never tried that, rubber cement is forgiving just clean up a bit and apply. New dust caps are available as well if you prefer to use new ones, just go up a size. -

Keep your scraping shavings out of the voice coil in the center.
