  1. Not a big drinker really but sometimes its good to have a few. My favorites: By the glass, ET & Coke. Fill glass with ice. Fill cup 40% full with Early times and top off with Coke or diet Coke if you prefer ================================================================ Grandpa's Whiskey sour, by the blender full. Add 8-10 OZ of Early Times. Fill blender 35-40% with ice. Add 2 heaping tablespoons of frozen concentrated lemonade. Add 2 heaping tablespoons of frozen concentrated orange juice Fill most of the blender with 7-UP or Sprite (diet is OK). Blend slowly & carefully as the carbonation in the soda can blow out everywhere, once this calms down blend until ice is chopped then you can top off the blender with more soda or ice and do a final mix. Also good frozen as a slushee, just store in the freezer. You can also sub brandy for the whiskey. You could also use your favorite whiskey but it seems a waste to buy expensive stuff & mix it down IMHO.
  2. Maybe somebody here on the forum who does electronics repairs will step up to have a look at your receiver for you.
  3. Sounds like it was damaged during shipping. Contact the seller to see if it was insured, if so have them file a claim right away.
  4. Klipsch has the KPT series and the THX ultra is decent. Not a big fan of the other current models myself. The RSW 15 is good for movies but find it a bit muddy for music IMHO, looks great though.
  5. A 12" driver is not in the plans for a reason. Should have used a recommended driver or built the THT. Looks like its missing some braces too but that's a easy fix.
  6. Can you explain in more detail what you are talking about ? The extra inch of space for the driver depends on where that inch is located. An extra 14 feet on the horn would make this thing huge.
  7. Placing your phone in a cup or bowl screen up works very well, no work involved.
  8. Its a 3 lug TV/FM wall mounted antenna jack for a rooftop or attic antenna.
  9. Cut out the baseboard's if need be, the horn needs to be sealed well. Foam tape may be of some help too.
  10. The Table Tuba along with many other great designs are available at the Bill Fitzmaurice web pages. Link
  11. Cant find any data on the SVS besides what's listed on the websight and some reviews with little information, without knowing the specs for the driver it would only be a guess at best. The Dayton is $100 cheaper and the Titanic is a great driver but both the sealed versions (SVS vs. Dayton) i would expect fairly similar results. If you have some woodworking skills $500 would get you a much better subwoofer and i would be happy to help out with driver selection, box & amp purchase if you're willing to get your hands dirty.
  12. If you don't mind doing a little work this would be a great option as well.
  13. Forum offenders should be given a choice, after all we are human 1: Atomic wedgie. 2: Swirlie 3: Swift kick in the nuts
  14. I think the beat is too similar to to Beastie Boys Egg Man, more cowbell may be just what it needs.
  15. Either of the SVS subs mentioned would be a much better choice than the Premiere Acoustic PA 150.
  16. If you throw up some pictures we could get a better idea of what's going on but the basket is probably junk by the sound of it..
  17. A steal if there ever was one. Would not let mine go for that price. Should go quick.
  18. Sealed vs. ported. Each has their own characteristics, strengths and weaknesses. Sealed will naturally be better for critical listening due to less phase issues among other things but will roll off sooner due to design. Ported will give a better bottom end but port noise can be an issue and frequencies below port tuning can result in overexcursion of the cone. Between the two i would choose sealed for music & ported for movies. Myself, i have moved on to bigger and better things. Horns rule.
  19. Dam good suggestion, if you have the real estate it would be a fine upgrade choice.
  20. Why all the space between sentences lately ? Seems to be an issue as of lately and i don't seem to be the only one having this problem.
  21. Its an option but still does not cure the fact that the La Scala bass bin is no longer horn loaded below 100 Hz or so adding raised distortion levels into the mix. Why put a band aid on the situation unless there is absolutely no room for a proper sub ?
  22. You have never heard one if this is your opinion. There is no boom boom boom, its not a poorly tuned car sub. I think the Klipsch THX subs are great for what they are but the sound of a proper horn subwoofer blows them away in all categories. Loudness is not everything, its the sound that makes the difference. Room modes & room gain work alike weather its a horn or direct radiating type so you get the same problem. Most of us don't load our space up with traps & sound absorption panels so it is what it is, in fact most place their subs where its most aesthetically pleasing instead of where it performs best. Next time you're out this way come have a listen, my door is always open for those interested. im pretty sure colt has heard his fair share of just about everything there is period. Mike (Colter) mentioned they are boomy and not musical is what i got from his post and that is not the case at all. I'm sure he has heard many different subs, I'm not saying otherwise but to say horns are boomy is not correct. Maybe somebody who is running one of these units or at least spent some time with one can chime in with another opinion on the subject.
