  1. I agree that the best setting to crossover you subwoofer would be at 80Hz however your Sub 10 will not be a great addition to your system if you crossover that high. If you could find a better subwoofer that would not get so sloppy sounding at higher frequencies it would make a world of difference, especially for music.

    KG $30

Gently used but dragged behind the car to get them home because they would not fit in the trunk. Good project / parts purchase for the price.
  3. I recommend crossing over under 50 Hz, the sub gets muddy over that frequency. The lower the better.
  4. Jason--you're from Chicago--what do you guys know about hot dogs? Actually, love a good chicago dog. Last time i went to Chicago, i couldn't wait to get off the plane and stop at the first hot dog place i could find. The best hot dogs in Chicago are from. Gene & Jude's Superdawg Paradise Pup Portillo's There are others but these are some of the best. The Works also makes a helluva dog, "The Works" is 2 hot dogs on french bread, different but very good. Their french fry basket is a meal in itself.
  5. I like it, its sold in the Asian stores around here as Banana sauce, use it in cooking.
  6. Ketchup on French fries & Meatloaf only, Cajun fries can go without. Mustard, onion & sport peppers on my hot dogs or chili & onions are another favorite. MMMMMM Chili dogs.
  7. I was thinking the same thing but could not find any information about Kiwi containing silicone, they don't list any ingredients. Good idea touching up with lacquer though its not going to match perfect it will be better than a scratch or ding while protecting the wood underneath.
  8. The Cornwall III's sound really nice, that would be my choice if there's enough room available for them.
  9. My pricing was based on MSRP in Canada, to much varation on pricing in used sets. Of course used is the way to go. Im with Jason str At this point I'm leaning toward the La Sacla with a horn loaded sub. Any suggestions on a sub? Tuba home theater (THT) will be your best choice, same efficiency and fully horn loaded design will be the best match or if you have the $$$ and the space there is a horn loaded Klipsch model but its bigger than 2 full size THT's. Tapped horn or dual 8" loaded Table Tuba would be a good substitute.
  10. Klipschorn has lower bass response but LaScala will have cleaner midbass that's more realistic, its a tradeoff. I prefer LaScala with a horn loaded subwoofer to get the best of both worlds.
  11. Black stain may be a better option to touchup nicks & scratches then feather with satin poly. Remove your drivers, XO's & cabinet hardware & drop them off at Maaco, i wouldn't imagine it would be more than a automobile paint job.
  12. Good thinking Claude, i keep throwing around ideas about making a another system with THT's for lows, DR midbass, & was unsure about the upper horn/driver combo although this may ultimately be an option for the workshop as i'm still using the white van speakers that really aren't that bad at low to medium volume levels. I'm really very happy with the LaScala sound though it could use some touch ups here and there to perfect the sound, why drive yourself crazy going overboard.
  13. Nice looking work, the build looks very methodical.
  14. Glad everything worked out with the project, keep up with the pics when you start making the sawdust on the Jamboree's, I'm very interested in those.
  15. You could always tell the wife that there's places in the room where the bass response has dips in volume caused by room modes and you will probably need another matching subwoofer to resolve this issue. Another pair of shoes may be in order.
  16. Boneless country ribs is what i made for dinner with fried rice & corn on the cob. Dam good too. Sunday is my day to cook.
  17. Quiet Hollow is absolutely correct, i believe it takes quite some time until a driver is fully broken in. I run all my drivers for a minimum of 24 hours before install and still it gets better sounding over time. What i do is run a 10- 20 Hz sweep then 10-15 Hz at night so not to bother anybody. I after around 100 hours if playtime it will sound as good as its going to.
  18. 18=1017 15=706 12=452 10=314 two 12's would only be 904 , one 18 is 1017 What do those numbers represent? Area = pi x r squared Area for a 12 = 3.1416 x 6x6 Area = 3.1416 x 36 = 113.1 =SD Very nice looking cabinet, it much bigger than 2 good sized Tuba HT's
  19. Great to hear you sub came in, sounds different right ? After you spend some time with it your KPT will collect dust in storage. I was wondering if it would fit through your doorway, its always one of my questions when somebody is asking about the bigger Tuba's. Keep us informed.
  20. If you use the T pattern for your braces 1 1/2 or 2" wide material of 1/2, 5/8 or 3/4 thickness will be sufficient.
  21. Mount your intake vent low so it intakes the cooler air for best results. Some fart fans are noisy but there are models that are nearly silent. Look at the Sone specs if the one you chose is too loud.
  22. Thanks, I really need to get these to a show so I can get some more ears on them. Dave Too bad you're so far away, i love hearing new things. I'm working on something myself but its a single full range driver in a multi chamber ported cabinet. I would like to hear more about your mid range horn for my LaScala's when you have free time. Send me a E-Mail or PM when you have a chance.
  23. Nice looking cabinet, bet it sounds good.
  24. I would prefer a horn over any model myself, there are many other that feel this way too. If floor space is at a minimum there are taller standing versions that can be used in a upfiring or downfiring configuration. The Tuba 18 would take up no more space than most 15" versions at 18" x 18" x 19".
