  1. My Adcom tuner has become flaky, the switch to change inputs cuts in and out when turning the knob, What can do to clean, fix, or repair the switch.
  2. I hooked theturntable directly up to the preamp/tuner but was unable to determine if it helped, the volume was too low. The phono preamp was moved away from the components and it seemed to help . Maybe i will experiment with more grounding options when i have more time.
  3. BigStewMan thank you for the words of encouragement, sometimes we are dealt bogus cards to play but one can only hope the next hand will be a winner. Wish you the best of luck. Jason
  4. Saw this thread and have to comment, 13 years ago i was working for a carpenter in N/E illinois and during the winter working outside and was carrying 2 4x8 sheets of 3/4" subfloor through the greasy, icy,wet snow and fell on my right shoulder and twisted my neck to the ground aided by the heavy wet plywood, got up brushed it off like us blue collar workers always do and finished the day of work. When i got home and in the shower washing my hair and it hit me like a ton of bricks, my neck hurt so bad right under my skull i could not work, sleep, sit or anything else for maybe a month but after a week of sick days i called my boss to let him know what happened he called me a liar and would not help out in any way and to boot i never got the health insurance i was promised after 6 months. Anyways i ended up losing my house i saved for years, the woman i loved because she wanted somebody to provide for her and i could not and of course my job because i was no longer able to work. After a year of living in a cheap apartment compliments of my loving parents i was able to get a part time job at a pet store with health insurance. Ended up getting a nerve block on my upper spine, what a horrible feeling the needle scraping on what felt like my lower skull. things got better or at least bearable but still to this day if i sleep wrong, sneeze, lift the wrong way the pain and nausea come back, not much works for me but advil helps enough to get me back on my feet. Recently i was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy and going through the same crap though this has no cure and keeps getting worse but thats another story. Hope everybody gets better and stays healthy, best of luck. Jason
  5. Yes i know that place, recently i stopped in there a few times to ask about the woofer issue but the closed sign was up and all the lights were out during normal business hours, kind of a bummer too its always nice to look around and see what's in the showroom. Everything is okey dokie with the passive woofer, being a General Motors line tech for all those years and running my handyman servise i feel confident the job was fixed properly though it may be a pain to remove the adhesive next time, the glue i used is good stuff. Sorry i forgot about this thread.
  6. Nobody huh ? Tomorrow i will hook up my old Technics and see if it is any better, if i recall the servo or something makes the speed unsteady but maybe it can be repaired, i think dad has one too but it was kinda funky, the tone arm tracks strange, rather thanthe usual type tracking the arm moves back and forth on a rail or something like that its hard to explain. Wish i never sold the Thorens but i needed the cash for car repair in a bind years ago, im sure many of us have been in that situation before.
  7. Are we allowed to post non audio products for trade here for audio products ? Don't want to piss anybody off so i figured asking first won't hurt.
  8. Just hooked my old turntable after sitting for many years and noticed noise ( low humming/buzzing) sound coming from the speakers and the woofers are flopping around like mad the more i turn up the bass even at moderate noise levels. So far i have tried grounding the turntable ground to the pre-amp, tuner/preamp and to the amplifier with no luck. Maybe somebody who uses vinyl more often can chime in on some ways to help rid or reduce the problem. Components in question are in my signature below with the addition of my old Pioneer PL 670 with a mid level Grado cartridge. The phono preamp is older and the sticker fell off so no onfo there.[N]
  9. After some homework i found it was the Quartet i was thinking of with the 12" Fiber-composite cone passive woofer, would this be an option to install on the KG4's to extend the life ? If not could a rubber surround be installed on the factory cones ?
  10. Just got a pair of nice KG4's and was wondering if there were any options to install a passive woofer like my chorus 2's have, the passive has recently been refoamed but we all know they only last so long. I recall seeing one of the other models when shopping for my chorus 2's that had the smaller passive (12") and was wondering if it may be interchangable with these. I'm not sure what they use treated paper maybe ? Also is there any advise anybody could offer for a crossover capacitor upgrade for the horn ? Any advise will be helpfull to keep another pair of Klipsch models in tip top shape for years to come.
  11. I used some emblem adhesive i had left over from my General Motors technician days and it worked like a charm, if i have any more trouble in the future i will just replace the cone, it looks like an easy job. Are the parts still available ? I sent an e-mail but never received a response from Klipsch.
  12. Well i was told that i should send the speaker out to be repaired by local speaker service center or buy a replacement passive woofer but i dont really trust anybody enough to let them touch my stuff. So what i was thinking if i could remove the ring in one piece i could epoxy the ring back on and make a steel ring to install over the cardboard and attach it with either screws with washers or clamps to try and fix it myself or i guess if it dosent work for some reason just break down and buy the replacement sound reasonable ?
  13. Thanks just missed tech support. The man i spoke with thinks it may be s structural part of the speaker and may need to be replaced but i will try back tomorrow to be sure i hate to mess something up

  15. Hello im in need of some help last month i had a little party here and pushed my Klipsch Chorus IIs a little hard with my adcom and seems the ring around my passive woofer came loose though not off or hanging but was wondering how and what would be the best way to fix this ? By the way i bought these new and when my father heard them he ditched his Altec lansing Valencias that he bought new in 1969 and picked up the same thing. still working and very happy.[] The bucking magnets i installed helped on these helped much ,now i can watch T.V. without sucking the screen to the sides. I do still have the Altecs in my basement for pool and darts by the way.
