  1. Do note that some movies like Dark Knight and Trasnsformers have an 'IMAX' version on blu-ray. The movie is 2.35:1 except the IMAX scenes which are the 16:9(1.87:1), so your black bars go away. You may not even notice it changing sometimes. This throws off the projection guys moreso. :-)
  2. Shot a PM off to Amy Unger I guess...maybe she can help you out.
  3. This came across my CNN news feed yesterday. Started to watch it, and just finished it up. http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapcf/02/08/vbs.north.korea/index.html?hpt=C2 The CNN video is like the 3-4 parts of the documentary. Rest can be viewed at the vbs.tv site. It's a very interesting and scary look into North Korea. (note: not looking for any politcal discussion; its just an interesting news story)
  4. Will say, I got to see "Them Crooked Vultures" monday night @ the Roseland ballroom in NYC. I'm sure a lot of you don't know, but it's a 'super group' of Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters), Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), and John Paul Johns (Led Zeppelin). Point being, JPJ is same age as Peter and Roger. He was rocking pretty hard...more like smooth relaxing and enjoying himself as the group jammed out for two hours. Definately a different vibe coming from vs seeing The Who on TV sunday. Just food for thought.
  5. The guys are like 65. To still be putting on a show at that age is....awesome. Was it there best, no. Saw them back in 2005, and was defiantely better then. The stage/lighting was amazing. The Who have always been an understated band. A lot of my friends don't really know them, but once they hear the tunes, they go "hey I know that song." Like someone mentioned...they all know the theme songs from CSI. This is the problem with my generation(im 28), and the people younger then me.
  6. I just got an apartment in NYC, and am stuck with TWC....it sucks big time. the HD channels lag, and its not just me, my friend in the nieghborhood has the same issue. Good, the guide is slow, stupid and well. It just sucks. I miss FIOS which I had back on Long Island. Unfortunatley, you can plan the price game with cablevision/Verizon atleast. You can tell them your leaving for competor due to price, and see if they can do something on price. Works a lot. I am guessing you just singed up for TWC? Maybe you can get out of the contact as they are holding up there end of the bargin type of thing....
  7. I use a Technics AC-500 connected to the PS3/HD-DVD/HD-DVR and the 5.1 Ultras. Works well. I keep the volume of the Ultra set at 80, and let the AC-500 do the volume control with the remote. Use to use a DD-5.1.

  9. I want to say, everyone is different, but I believe I still have mine at S0, and I don't think I have ever owed. I let my accountant take care of the stuff for me. Worth the $150 to have him go over it and sign off leaving me with some peace of mind. YMMV. Off the the weight loss part. I Lost 40lbs over since October (started at 237, now 198). I started to walk from train to office every morning, about 30minutes/1.7miles, and was slowly building up my running/jog from 20-30-40-50-60minutes in the evenings. Also was doing some weights 3X a week. As for what I was eating. Blueberries/little fruit around 8am, Protein shake(EAS 17G protein, low carb thing) around 9:30am. Lunch is normally grilled chicken with steamed vegetables/spinach/borcolli. Dinner was fairly normal, but tried to keep the carbs down. I also do pushups/bicycle kicks in the am before showering to get to work. I think the big part of it has been really cutting out snacks, soda, and having 60+minutes of cardio a day, between the walking and jogging. Everyone is different, and everyones body responds differently. Last time I tried to diet, it didn't really work. This time, I boosted the workout time, and it seems to make a difference. On the plus side I save $2.25 each day for walking vs the NYC subway.
  10. A lot of people seem to be missing the beauty of the device. It is not a laptop/desktop replacement. Yes, it basically is a huge itouch/iphone, which is perfectly fine. From a tech point, having to use Flash to watch videos is well, outdated. HTML5 specs incorporate video stream into html code...youtube, vimeo already moving to it to get ride of flash. If the ipod/itouch/ipad support flash, guess what, the apple store becuase useless as do you know how many games are available? Also, look at how buggy and explotable flash has been over the past 2 years. Part of apples beauty with these things are about simplicity, and making that simplicity work beautifly. Remove 60% of the junk that people won't use, and make that 40% work amazing. Do you really need hdmi/vga out on it? No. That's what appletv/ps3/htpc is for. Really going to run a 20' cable from you on the couch to you TV? Need flash/usb/media card support? Hmm, well whats the point to sync up to itunes if I can just keep it all on a removable card? It will support the iworks suite, so well email, word documents, excel sheets, powerpoint all doable. I have had a few laptops, and bought one this past summer. I do three major things on it. Watch movies, listen to music, and browse the web. That is 95% of my usage. If I want to download torrent, put stuff onto the tv to rewatch in bigger format, I got my ps3/htpc for that. Will I get one? Most likely. Is it perfect? No. Then again, if you wait for version 2, you might as well wait for version 3...well, don't bother really then, cause newer/better is always on the horizon.
  11. Part of the problem is the poor eduction system in the US for obtaining your drivers license. Ever see people try to drive in the snow? Do people know you should turn the wheel back when the car is understeering? A lot of stuff, including how to respond to the stuck throttle and what to do, would be learned in advanced driving classes or a better license system...like finland or sweden. One has a 3 day test to get your license...and you wonder why all the good rally drivers come from that area. Even by people learning to do autocross/solo1/solo2/gymkhana will help improve peoples driving skills. You learn how the car reacts in 'adrenaline' instances. Ohh, and manual ftw....how i miss it from my current car.
  12. In my personal experience, I have tried working out with my X10's and Custom 1's, and did not like it. As gross as it sounds, once my ear got a little sweaty, I started to lose the seal. I prefer using a pair of neckband headphones for working out, and running. Can't speak for the "i"stuff. Your mileage may vary. :-)
  13. was looking into this too as well as Music Hall MM2.2. I think it will be between those too. I think I rather get new right now, then go with something used.
  14. Thanks guys. None of the 6 LP's that I have are 78's. So I would think 33/45 would be fine. I've read that other thread. It does have some good info. The history page on the Thorens Dept site, definately helped put a timeline together for me of the different models.
  15. I've been searching here, and trying to find info. So a lot of people seem to recommend Technics SL-1200 or Thornes. Now, I think I may like the Thornes better for the looks. I've been trying to figure out the differences between modesl, say the TD-124, TD-125, TD-147, TD-166. Lots of the used stuff. But, it doesn't seem necessary that higher number means better TT. I've glanced over the Thorens Dept site (http://www.theanalogdept.com/thorens_dept_.htm) but still kind of lost between the models. I'm not limiting myself to Thornes or the Technics. Open to suggests. I'm open for new or used for under $600. I have a few LP's already, but don't want to buy more till I get a TT. Looks like this will be used with my Heresy II's w/sub and my Scott 299B amp. Thanks, Dan
  16. If you want future proof, PS3 for sure. They are talking about Blu-Ray 3D coming out by end of year, and Sony says its a simple formware update on the PS3. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10417449-1.html
  17. Turn the volume down a touch, you might be listening to loud if it is tiring you out and your get ringing in your ears after a period of time. Maybe you just don't realise how loud you have it playing.
  18. That is prety cool. Are they OK for the bathroom? Looks like one photo has them in there. Just would wonder with the humidity of the shower.
  19. I use my15" on my lap all the time. Actually gald I didn't get the 13" tried using two friends who have them, felt it was to small. Maybe me being a larger guy helps? (6'1"+ and 200lbs) so maybe it just feels....right? lol.
  20. Just found/read Prof Thumps blog post. http://community.klipsch.com/blogs/technical/archive/2009/12/10/goes-to-eleven-how-much-crank-is-too-much.asp Feel a lot better now. :-)
  21. Same here. Actually, a lot of our IT team now have MAC's for personal use, and well, we are a Windows shop. I bought a 15" MacBook Pro in Aug, and love it. Worth the money. It's like comparing a Kia to a BMW. You pay for what you get. It will just work, and well, it will definately last longer then the PC. Very true too.
  22. 176 channels! jeez! I wonder how long it to him to program. The fading left to right it pretty cool. Very well done. Makes the original Siberia Orchestra one look.... simple. lol.
  23. I think its cleaner to get a firewire/usb audio device with the outputs to run to the ultras. Then again, look at both options and see which works out cheaper. I have a usb DAC for my headphones, but don't connect the macbook to the 5.1s I have.
  24. Well, if you happy with your Heritage, why not stick with it. Then again, people might be a little, justa tinny tiny amount towards Klipsch here. I'm thinking off getting three new Heresy III's once I get my house hopefully in the spring. Pair them with my current 2's (use as rears). I plan to get an Epik Subwoofer Dynasty for the sub. I've heard good things about the Paradigm, but then again, your now comparing 2way vs 3way as well. I would think you would get a lot larger/warmer feeling from the Heresy's. Then again, what do you plan to drive all this with?
  25. Wow. That was pretty sweet. Your right. Lot of angles you never get to see normally. Plus the multi-angles at same time is nifty. Good bass. Listend to it on my X10's.
