Might be late to chime in but.. IIRC the HD allows for greater adjustment range when it comes to time alignment of the channels. Time alignment of the channels is not singularly a solution to overcome variation in distances from subs to listener, but also can help overcome other undesirable effects of the room on your resulting sub curve. More adjustability will never hurt you.
If you haven't come across it already, there is an excellent youtube video on subwoofer alignment by Home Theater Gurus. MUST WATCH material for setting up and optimizing multiple subs with REW and the MiniDSP unit.

You're sitting in a null. Most likely a vertical room mode, and perhaps even close to or within a Length mode and/or width mode. The fact that the bass returns when you stand up is telling; you're getting vertical cancellations at ear height, along with possibly other horizontal cancellations at your listening spot. That's why your bass is sounding anemic with those Cornwalls. That may also be why the lack of bass is less noticeable with the JBL's. When you're listening to those, the bass driver for them is at a different height, and the vertical room mode is probably less of a factor. Contrary to popular notion, It's POSSIBLE, that raising up your cornwalls a couple feet MIGHT actually improve bass at your listening position.
Unless you have an absolutely perfect room, and your main speakers are highly-capable, it's my opinion that you really can't rely on JUST 2 mains to get ideal/flat bass response.
What typically happens is exactly what you're describing. The optimum placement for stereo imaging, results in poor placement for the bass drivers to interact with the room (and your listening position), and since all frequencies are coming out of those same 2 boxes, you can't move the bass producing drivers to the locations that work BEST with your room and listening spot.
Enter the benefit of subwoofers. The ability to place them wherever they work best in nearly any listening arrangement (within WAF limits, of course).
One option is to try rearranging your stereo listening configuration (Listening position and speaker placement) to different areas of the room (if possible), or a different room all together. Try shifting your listening position a few feet forward or a few feet back (again, if possible). Try turning your entire listening arrangement 90 degrees in that end of the room. You'd have to experiment, by ear, until you've managed to shift your listening spot out of the null. Not particularly easy.
2 decently capable 10 or 12 inch subs, placed properly, aligned, and EQ'd would likely do absolute wonders for what kind of sounds you can experience. I say 2, because again, the ability to place, align, and EQ 2 subs is guaranteed to get you better (flatter) response than just one larger one. You can't fight room modes with size. You fight them with quantity and placement and/or the use of bass traps. This is especially relevant for non-ideal listening rooms.

The bass that's lacking at your listening position... Does it exist elsewhere in other areas of the room if you get up and walk around?

If you have a UMIK-1 and REW you can measure the response in the crossover region to see which settings give you the smoothest signal through the transition. OR just experiment by ear.

The system seems to be lacking clarity at certain times and find the dialogues to be muffled. I fear to push the system to limits and hover the volume at around -50.I still love the system and always try to get the best out of it by finding good content to play on it.

For stereo recordings, it's 2 speakers and subs for me. If it's background music for a party, I don't mind using expanded, enhanced, or multi-channel stereo for a bit more sound coverage.

Move couch?
Put speakers on something to lift them up higher?
Is the couch actually blocking portions of the speaker that matter most in terms of direction-ality (Mids/tweets)?
I'd be reticent to the notion of replacing floor speakers with book-shelvers as well.
I'd probably figure out a way to raise the speakers. Make a heavy pedestal for them of some type. Don't imagine you'd have to lift them by more than 6-8 inches to get your critical sound path back.
Trying to accommodate a theater in a small room with furniture that's actually livable can be a challenge..

Took 2 weeks dealing with a minor house disaster, but finally have all my connections made. Things are sounding pretty good before even setting up the subs and getting all the room correction dialed in.

SR6013 should be on its way, arriving mid-week, so that's happening!
Also went down the rabbit hole of AVSForum Posts and HomeTheaterGurus videos on Subwoofer setup/calibration/alignment. This video was like a revelation for setting up multiple subs! Timely that it just came out within the last month, but man.. I wish I could have watched it years ago! The concept of sub EQ I understood but the concept of "alignment" was lost on me until seeing how it applies here. The knowledge here and a MiniDSP would have saved me loads of work.
So as of 2 am this morning, also on the way is a MiniDSP 2X4HD that will take the place of my Behringer EQ.
It's going to be a fun couple of weeks in my living room

After reading into the Audyssey XT32 option which provides control of 2 subs independently, it appears that might be hugely beneficial to me. I currently run "2" subs. One consists of the subs built into my KSP-400's and the other is that Elemental Designs 15. They live at different spots in the room and trying to manually set up and eq them for optimal performance is a challenge even with REW and a parametric eq, since they are fed of the same output signal of the AVR.
Any means to simplify/improve that portion of my system would be great!
I'm slowly leaning towards the Marantz..

This is also where I'm kind of at with it. I've always run Pioneer receivers and am curious to try something new. The cost for a SR6013 receiver isn't a huge money suck, and I could likely recoup a little dough for the old pioneer, or most certainly re-purpose it elsewhere.
Any thoughts or comments on the Marantz App control via phone?

Not a bad take. Also not planning to add any channels at this point so again, another feature that's moot for my application. I don't even use all the 7 channels of the current Pioneer.

Considering an upgrade to my nearly 7 year old Pioneer Receiver. I've read numerous accounts and reviews of Marantz stuff and the general consensus is that it seems to hold an edge in detail/clarity/musicality over the likes of some Yamaha and Pioneer models.
Current model is an SC-1323-K
Considering an SR6013
There's nothing blatantly obvious in the specs for either that would definitively give one the edge over the other, aside from the following:
Amp Architecture: Pioneer Class D^3 vs Marantz 9 channel discrete
Room Correction: MCACC vs Audissey
DA converters: 24bit vs 32 bit
I don't run video through my receiver, so all 4K passthrough features/specs are moot for me.
Receiver would power the system in my signature (Full KSP-400/C6/S6 suite with an old monster Elemental Designs sub)
I'm not dis-satisfied with how the Pioneer handles movies currently, and 2-channel music playback is where I'd prefer to get the most improvement (short of going to a dedicated 2 channel music setup, of course). Current house isn't big enough to support that habit, but the next one will be.
Typically I'm firmly planted in the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" camp, but sometimes there's an itch to try out a new piece of gear, and my system has been pretty much exactly the same for the past 5 years.
Anyway, if any of you guys have some feedback that's relevant to what I'm considering I'd love to hear it. Anyone who's moved from an upper level Pioneer to a Marantz, your thoughts and opinions would be valued! Open to alternate suggestions too

This thread has been kicking along for a while, and I'm still using my KSP's in their modified state. Though I did recently upgrade the amplifier I'm using to power them.
Previously, I was using a Crown XLS-202, which made adequate power, but even after modifying the cooling fan it was still bothersome. In an otherwise perfectly quiet room, the fan could be heard at my listening spot (~12 ft away, and behind a closed cabinet), resulting in a bit more than whisper level background noise.
Picked up an XLS-1002 and got it all plugged in last night. For anyone who might still be looking to do this modification, this is probably the best/most cost-effective amp solution. ~$280. Each KSP sub is getting ~350 watts and the thing is absolutely silent. Has +12VDC trigger-on capability, dim-able control panel and lighting, input sensitivity adjustment for low voltage source signals (i.e. most Receiver sub/LFE outputs), built-in crossover capability. Not quite as many bells and whistles as the Crown XTI2 series, but there's no sense paying for them if you're not going to use them.
I had to do a bit of modification to the 19" wide rack-mount chassis in order to get it to fit into the 18-5/8" wide shelves of my entertainment stand. I folded back the mounting flanges and ground down the outer ends of the front decorative bezel, until the max width was 18-1/2".

Over a year later and I have still done nothing with this amp. Any thoughts on where to look for the replacment caps? I have not found any old KSP, KSW15 or KSW300 amps around.
Blast from the past I know, but there is a local guy here in AZ who advertises to fix most brands of speaker amplifiers.

Saw him by chance with a listing on ebay. No personal experience with them though. I tried messaging him to offer my unused KSP400 amps to him but never heard back.
Either way, if anyone else has a use for a pair of KSP400 amps let me know. I'd be happy to mail them out for the cost of shipping.

Sorry for taking forever to reply here. I know for certain one of them is NOT good. It's been so long since I pulled them out that I don't remember exactly, but I THINK one of them is still in good working order. I wouldn't bet the farm on it though..

Huh... Yeah I didnt even notice that at first. Seems like a strange way to do business. Unless maybe they just charge a flat fee to fix depending on which amp it is? I dunno.
