  1. George Wright Sr. has passed away, and it appears his wife and son are closing the company. The following was posted on wright-sound.com: Dear Wright Sound Customers and Friends, It is with great sadness that we report that George Wright went home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2009. He is celebrating with those who have gone on before him and we will see him again one day. George's passing means the end of Wright Sound company. He was the brillance behind the equipment. Without him, there is no company. Those of you who knew George know that he had a passion for tube equipment and he truly was gifted in electronics. He will be sorely missed for his humor and his incredible knowledge about all things tube related. To all of our customers over the years, George would like to say thanks. It was a heck of a ride and he enjoyed sharing his passion for music with you. Take care, live life to the fullest, and be blessed. Brenda Wright George Wright (son) This is a big loss to the tube-using audio public, especially to SET where most of George's products were focused. He will be missed.
  2. Hi, Yes their is the brown celluluose wadding but I'm thinking maybe trying dynamat? I am using Herbies Audio Lab Big Black dots and they really work well, but I need to remove those silver domes of silence so that I can place the dots on the cornes for better contact.
  3. Hi, I'm looking to dampen the inside ofmy 83 Cornwalls any suggestions? Thanks
  4. Mark's been great about responding to my questions. I had about 1 inch headroom above the BB ,my VRD is below on the bottom rack. Anyway I could,as Mark suggested, send it back but I really don't want to part with it for 2-3 weeks. So ,I was just curious if anyone had this issue. Thx
  5. First off,let me say that the BBXT is probably the best pre I've owned and paired with my newly acquired NOS VRD amp sounds terrific. One thing I wanted to know from fellow BB owners who use the wood cover is if anyone notices overheating on the BB? I had to stop using the case because it got so hot...I also noticed that it sounded better without the case as well. Anyone have a similiar exprience?
  6. Another amp Mark suggested was the Pass Aleph 30 ..anyone using it?
  7. I spoke to Mark yesterday,he was very helpful in suggesting amps. I'll call Craig at NOS and ask about the st-45 ,I don't see it on his site. Basically I'm lookin for that dynamic, punchy drive that ss can deliver, lean and mean for the low end.My concern with another tube amp is the bass,It was really a revelation to me ,after 15 yrs. of tube amps what SS,in this case a MC122,can do when matched with my Corns. My thought is that the BB would warm it up just a tad...the Klipsch,to my ears, have this "real concert" sound that I love, especially on "live" recordings. Van Morrison's new LP has one side that is from one of his live concerts and it really sparkles. I just saw him in NYC a few months ago...best sound I ever heard at a concert. It was a 5 or 7 thousand seat church, the sound was slightly warm, smooth yet powerful and dynamic.
  8. I 'd love to get the VRD's but possibly $ and space are issues, unless I do some creative math and rearanging of gear. I know, Mark sells that Modded Crown amp...anyone try that? BTW, thanks to all who are advising me on this.
  9. I have a Mac mc122 ss amp that I'll use but what do you think about the Mac 275 as a match w/Corns?
  10. I'm looking to get a new pre w/phono to go with my MC122 ss ampand Cornwalls.Any suggestions ?
  11. I just installed a BC 125 and noticed I didn't have any padding on the back of one of my speakers...anyone know where I can purchase? Thanks
  12. I'm confident the vta is set up properly. As a side note, I swapped out my tweeters for the Bob Crites version and the combo does sound better:smoother highs, slightly more detail and depth...still need to try it with my vinyl.
  13. Currently using Mac C15 & MA122 combo. The phono is thin sounding.
  14. I've read many posts and I also have a friend with one and he raves about it. On the AK McIntosh forum ,it get's consistently good reviews. Also it's so much less $ than a Mac.
