  1. Hi

Can never have too many Klipsch.  Just saw your post a little late to the party, wondering if the quartets are still available I am actually local for pickup if they are.

Sorry all the Klipsch are sold. Just have my JBL L100's left but I won't mention those around here.

  2. Sorry for the late response. I bought my son 1402 from A4Less around Christmas and have had no problems with it. On the other hand, I can set in my living room and think my right speaker is not as loud as my left (using a Yamaha). I ask my wife and son if they hear the difference and look at me like I'm nuts. A few week later the left and right sound the same. I think its my sinuses effecting my ear from time to time.

       Best of luck to you

I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it is with me too. Maybe I'm just too picky....nah!

My favorite speakers ever. Call me insane but they sound better than my Cornwall III's ever did.

    Not insane in my book.

If you only knew how long I have been saying that the 63's are the most 3-way sounding 2-way towers Klipsch has in it's arsenal.

That is wy I have not "upgraded" to the 83's, 7's, or 7II's when i have had the chance.  I know I would get a little more "bigness" for HT if I did but musically I don't think they are an upgrade.

Thank you! I couldn't agree more!

I actually sold my tube gear and all my other speakers and just use the 63's for HT and 2 channel.

I've never been this happy with my  gear.

To think of all the money I've spent over the years trying out different speakers, set ups, tubes and solid state and this is one of the cheapest yet is the best sounding. Go figure!

I was actually thinking of grabbing the 63's in this post. Might be nice rear surrounds.

  4. Hi All,

Looking for a SINGLE RS-42 ii. I'm not very picky about condition.

Scrappy and I were able to work out a deal on a single RS42ii if anyone has a mate for it please let me know!

    Thank you,
    Rick

I see MY problem. I pulled up your preamp and got a different one. Seems as though Emotiva also makes a fancy preamp called a Emotiva XSP-1. I was looking at it instead of the Emotiva XPS-1. Since it is the same model number, other than two letters transposed, it never caught my attention until now. Forget eveything I posted.

If you have an input on your AVR that you could hear the sound coming out of, but it simply wasn't loud enough, use that input. Run your turntable RCA jacks into the input of the Emotiva. Run the output of the Emotiva to the input you were getting the sound out of on your AVR. Make sure the Emotiva is powered up. It has a power light on it. See if you get anything with that setup.

That's exactly what I was doing! I almost feel if I didn't use the Emotiva that I'd get the same weak volume just from the TT.

I know the Emotiva works the way it should because I hooked it up to my tubes. I just can't get it to work with the Marantz AVR.

What I didn't try is something else in the same input jack. I'll try that tonight and report back.

    Thanks again,

    Rick

When you hooked it up to the tubes, you didn't use the phono input did you ?

       Bryant

No, my tube pre doesn't have a phono input. I just hooked the TT to the Emotiva phono stage and then hooked the phono stage into my pre.

Essentially the same exact thing I'm doing with the Marantz ( I didn't even unplug the TT and the phono stage, just the phono stage from the rear of the Marantz AVR) That's what makes me think I'm missing something about the AVR.

  7. Just to be sure that I have everything hooked up correctly I took the entire setup over to my tubes and plugged it in exactly the way it's plugged into the Marantz. It sounds great on the tubes.

    Thanks,

    Rick

The only explanation is that you don't have the right connection selected for the source. What I mean is, if you look at the first HDMI input, it is labeled as BD. Your top analog audio in is also labeled as BD. You have to choose one or the other in your on screen setup, you will have to choose where your audio source is coming from on the BD input. If you are using HDMI, it would be HDMI, if it were two channel analog audio, then analog audio would be the selection. With HDMI being so popular these days, the default is probably going to be HDMI on the BD.

If you need more help, I may can help if you tell me which input you have open. You often can't usually use the BD input (just for example) for two different sources. Let's say, for example that you had an Oppo BD player hooked up to the BD HDMI input. That means, you probably couldn't assign the analog BD input to another source. I don't know that for sure, as your receiver being a thinline is a bit limited in connectivity, but you can't do it with my receiver. Am I making sense ?

Mine looks exactly like the picture that USNRET posted above. I have it in the CD. I wasn't able to even use cd till I went and turned it on in the menu settings once I did that it I had to turn the volume up all the way just to hear the record. I even tried turning up the analog output in the setting but it didn't add much volume.

  8. Now that you have the inputs selected on the Marantz, just hook up your preamp now. Connect the phono RCA jacks to the phono input on the Emotiva. Connect the "main outputs of the Emotiva to the inputs of the AVR you were using when you got sound out of it. Have MM selected and the switches on the back on "full range." see what you get there.

      Bryant

Maybe that's what I'm missing, how do I select "full range"?

    Thank you,

    Rick

your preamp has a switch (actually two) on the back that say "full range" and "high pass." Those should be on full range. There is also another switch on the back of the Emotiva that says MM and MC. MM should be selected. A moving magnet turntable is more common than a moving coil. It is also generally a higher output, so it is safe to select MM even if you have a moving coil type cartridge.

    Hi Bryant,

I don't see the switch on the back of the Marantz but I could be missing it.

Here is a link to the back of my receiver.http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/ZoomImage.aspx?img=/Assets/images/products/NR1402/XL_1402-rear.jpg

My cart is a Shure M91ED and the Emotiva is set to MM.

It is on the back of the Emotiva, not the Marantz.

      Bryant

    Hi Bryant,

I'm sorry I'm totally missing something as I don't see any switches on the emotiva. I checked the top and bottom and both sides.

    Thanks,

    Rick

  11. That would be one of these inputs on your AVR. Make sure you have the input / source assignment set to use analog input not HDMI, etc.

This is exactly what I'm missing! It'll be the first thing I do when I get home tonight. Thank you!!!

  12. I wasn't sure where to put this so I dropped it in 2-channel

I have a Marantz NR1402 that's running my Klipsch damn well.

Now I want to hook up my turntable to the nr1402. I purchased the Emotiva XPS-1 phono amp and tried to hook it up to the rear of my marantz but it doesn't seem to recognize it as a source. What am I missing? There isn't any type of "aux" to plug into.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Rick
