  1. PWK never lost his passion for audio. He could talk your ear off with information about all things audio. HDBR nailed it! From 1989 on, the company was no longer his, he had retired. PWK had strong opinions on certain things. If you wanted to change his mind on something, you had to prove it! No one ever proved to him that "front mounting" really had that many benefits. Remember, he had to balance production factors with everything else. Tony
  2. I remember asking PWK himself about the difference between "front mounting" and "back mounting". After much discussion on the subject, he said, "There's not a dime's worth of difference between the two." Tony
  3. Speaking of pie shaped logos, here's something that'll break your heart. I know where there are 2 trays of pie shaped logos right now. They're unused, Klipsch originals that were being used before the changeover. They're stored for safe keeping. Tony
  4. I remember he had a McIntosh powering everything. I've looked at that system numerous times and can't remember anything but the Mac right now. I was always too much in awe of the man to pay much attention to anything else. Tony
  5. As most will tell you, it's strictly preference. I've got KLF-30's & Heresy II's. I like the Heresy's. I've workerd and worked at getting the 30's to sound "right" to my ear. Moving them from room to room, placement, different components, etc. The Heresy's sound more "right" to me in almost any situtation. Tony
  6. I definitely would not make the Jubilee the flagship of the Heritage line. Not long before PWK passed away, he was asked what speaker he was most proud of. He said the Klipschorn. I remember asking Mr. Paul many questions about his speakers. I heard Mr. Paul talk about speakers, and it was always about what we now know as the Heritage line. Save your Klipschorns everyone, it was still PWK's favorite. Just my opinion, Tony
  7. I have KLF-30's & Heresy II's. I definitely like the Heresy's more than the 30's. Tony
  8. Funeral services are pending with Herndon Funeral Home in Hope. Tony
  9. I wanted/want the 401 horns and told him so. He said he was going out of town and he'd get in touch with me when he got back. Then I noticed them on Ebay. Tony
  10. It seems the items in question have been placed on Ebay. Tony
  11. It is with very deep sadness that I must inform you of the passing of Paul W. Klipsch. Mr Klipsch passed away at 6:00am this morning while in the hospital in Hope, Arkansas. Funeral arrangements are not yet made. Emails can be sent to the family through their website, Miss Valerie will get them all. http://www.mrspaulwklipsch.com Tony
  12. HDBRbuilder: I understand that Jim is moving to Indy. Have you heard about this? Tony
  13. Here first, then Ebay. I'd be very interested. Please email with details. Tony
  14. PWK has also said that the Shorthorn was his Edsel. Tony
  15. For more info on the "Little Bastard" check page 180 of PWK's book. It was built for MIss Valerie. Tony
  16. The industrial version of the Heresy. Tony
  17. The mid horn is shorter in the Belle. These speakers sound slightly different, (very slightly to my ear) but it's hard to describe. I think the LaScala has more of a following, possibly because there seems to be more of them out there. The Belle just may be the most attractive speaker I've ever seen. Tony
  18. What about the "new" finishes of the Heritage line? Where's the Oiled Oak? I need my Oiled Oak!!! Tony
  19. There are more "unseen" speakers in the Klipsch home. There are Quartet's & Forte's in the guest rooms, as well as others. Tony
  20. What is so special about these old speakers? Well... they don't make 'em like they used to! PWK's are the best! Tony
  21. They sound very similar to the Heresy II's, but with improved/more bass. Tony
  22. A good time was had by all. It was a pleasure to finally meet BobG, and to see Phil and Trey again. Not to mention getting to meet some of my BB brethren. The signing was a great event, with people in attendance from all over the country. Toward the end of the signing, a few of us went over to the Klipsch's home and listened to music with Mr. Paul on his system. It was great just being there! Will post more about it later. Tony
  23. To my knowledge, the book won't be available through Klipsch. The book really has nothing to do with Klipsch Audio Technologies. It is solely about Paul & Valerie Klipsch. Tony
  24. I vote for dougdrake... cubed! (does that make any sense?) Tony
  25. Trey knows me pretty well. I just want to do my (small) part to help Mr Paul & Miss Valerie. Speaking of Trey... If it hadn't been for him, many of us would have never met the Klipsch's. Trey... we're in your debt. Tony This message has been edited by Tony Reed on 03-13-2002 at 09:13 AM
