On the third cup of some generic hazelnut carmel stuff. Going to make a 120 mile round trip through Atlanta today to my "local" service tech. My beloved dirt cheap CL find from a couple of years ago, a Pioneer SX-9000, dropped the left channel in July and then the right channel in September. It is time to get it serviced (it has never been serviced before) and show it some love. I hear this will be the biggest shopping day of the year--Super Saturday. Oh boy . . . road rage!

Alright....question for today... Who "eats" coffee beans? My 20-something kids do so once in a while. I don't ... My middle-aged teeth wouldn't like it; and I am not going to substitute a teaspoon of Folger's ground coffee to simulate the experience!

I had a mid horn on a Khorn do that. I had a set of new the little $1 gaskets from Crites laying around. Unscrewed the driver off of the horn; took out the old crusty compressd gaskets and installed the new ones. Wala! Solved the same problem. The magic was back for a $1.

Honduran coffee roasted in Indiana . . . interesting.

Sucking down some kind of French Vanilla flavored coffee this morning . . . It has some kind of twingy after taste . . . May be because I have not brushed my teeth yet! Well, at least now he owes you a favor!

Yeah, was not supposed to get off the sidewalk. Then wasn't supposed to survive the ambulance ride. Then wasn't supposed to come out of the emergency room. Then never was supposed to walk again. Wife said I needed a hobby after the accident while I was in the wheelchair. That's when I got into HT and my first Klipsch speakers, and back into two channel vitnyl after a 30 year hiatus. But these days all I have left with is a fashionable limp and too many Heritage speakers. I am blessed. And life is good!

That's cold, Bro. And for the record: some of us are only semi-retired. How else can we buy more electronics and Klipsch speakers! PS: And thanks for the reminder . . . . I had forgotten what day it was! :-)

Tarheel, you are motivating me to get back at practicing that difficult instrument they call a guitar. I definitely prefer the electric when finger tips are not calloused. The electric strings are not as brutal on them. This is going to be one of many New Year's resolutions. To pick it up and practice at least one 20 minute session EVERY DAY. Better yet, three separate 20 minute sessions. You are very wise to take face-to-face lessons, especially if you have a good teacher. There is a ton of stuff on the web, but none of it will observe what you may be doing wrong, such as posture, etc... One tip that really helped me with chord changes is to form the chord with your first finger first, etc... Not sure why, but a lot of folks the tendency is to start forming the new chord with the pinky and then working to the index finger. This is not as effective because most strumming is down with the first chord strum and it gives you a few nano seconds to finish forming the chord while beginning the strum. Unfortunately I do because no cell phone service is reliable in my rural area. I typically have to go outside and climb a tree..kind of like Green Acres dude climbing the telephone pole. Not using a phone myself I find that really crazy, it's like that everywhere. I told my wife if a meteor were to take out satellites and cellphone towers a big part of the population would have a nervous breakdown and just stand dumbfounded as to how to get things done. Like driving, is what's going on with your phone worth dieing for ? What are they thinking ? But the birthrate has probably dropped of because of cellphones, until they come out with an app for that . Saw a rear end collision at lunch. No brake squeal at all. Knocked the car ahead into the next car ahead. Want to bet it was cell phone related? Saw the same scenario about a block from there a couple of months ago. It's getting serious folks Took my Mom & Dad and my sister to see a house totally decked out with Christmas lights last year. Kid came from nowhere and plowed into the back of us. Luckily no one was hurt. First thing I asked him was, "were you texting"? His delayed answer was not at all convincing. He didn't admit it, but he didn't say no. Be safe and cognizant of upcoming cars when admiring Christmas lights! Alright, alright . . . I will take the guitar out of the case . . . haven't opened in 8 years . . . an acoustic with a pick up. Dog chewed some vinyl cover off the amp but it still works well. In late 2007, got t-boned on my Harley by a kid in a Nissan Pathfinder. Wound up with 11 surgeries and a 1 1/2 in a wheelchair before I learned to walk again. Got another Harley 2 days out of the wheelchair. I might as well break the guitar out again too.

That's a good reason to buy a new watch.

Ha, ha, ha!Give yourself a few more years and your mind will "unread" all kinds of stuff. I had forgotten already I posted it! Perhaps for the young and sharp of mind I should delete the post . . . I do not want to scar young developing minds! :-) Heading to the pot for a second cup (or is it the third cup?) of hazelnut . . . forgot I already drank that flavor yesterday until I read your post. ;-)

I hav read the whole thread . . . I can do the small home repair electrical stuff. So, for all of my vintage 2 prong electrical (amps, etc.) and even my newer stuff, I use the three prong surge protector strips with high joules . . . am I all good? The only hum through the speakers I ever get is brief when turning on the two-prong Phase Linear 400 running my fronts in the HT. (Transformers warming up?)

The only callouses I think I have left are not on my finger tips, but one callous on each butt cheek from sitting too long at my computer! Anybody want a picture? Morning, morning, all. On third cup of Seattle's Best . . . Sold a mostly working 1927 Victor Victrola "Consolette" yesterday, nice piece but not a grey piece, out of the basement hoard. The nice part? My wife lets me sell from the hoard and keep the cash for new or vintage audio gear--to try different stuff. A simple rule she has: nothing new comes in unless something old goes out. Prince I have much more than I need, it is turning into a good deal and keeping us off of an episode of hoarders! Inspired, I am going back into the basement collection today to see what other tidbits I have no intention of using ever again to put on CL--yesterday's sale was a Christmas buy--a nice lady bought the Victor for her husband for Christmas and now a little more $ in my future audio purchases fund. I call my new little turnover program: "recycled riches." But NO Klipsch speakers are leaving!

On the third cup of Seattle's Best . . . And, between the 2nd and 3rd cup, finished my gov'ment mandated census survey so that I do not go to jail today. They snail mailed me 3 times in 3 weeks reminding me it is against the law not to fill it out! They even gave me a link to do it online and save us taxpayers postage--which I did. Perhaps it is time to fill the prisons with people who ignore the census surveys. ;-) I remain a law abiding citizen reporting my information to Caesar at the Christmas season. Deep Christmas Thought of the Day: If Mary and Joseph had the Internet option to do their census update too back in the day, Jesus would not have been born in Bethlehem, but back at home in a regular cradle . . . meaning, "The Little Drummer Boy" would never have been made.

Up since 6 am and working on the fourth cup of joe . . . Mom and the wife having out later to the Holy Shrines of Wallyworld and the Dollar Tree . . . And Petsmart ((May God forbid we neglect getting gifts for the dogs at Christmas!). I guess I will just have to throw the four dogs out of the house and crank up 'da noise! I asked my mom why her two little dogs get better Christmas gifts now than I ever got as a kid. I asked, "Was it because we were poor?" She answered, "No, no. I just like the dogs better!"

On the second cup of vanilla bean coffee. Got the tree up and lights on . . . my star is drooping. (Will have to get out some duct tape and two Popsicle sticks to straighten it out.) Talked mom and wife into putting the bulbs and stuff on today . . . my part is finished. Mom was so proud of me. Said she was shocked, because in her 77 years, she never ever knew a man who ever put a tree up. I never knew Mom was a sexist! Ha, ha.
