  1. Thanks for the advice guys. Youthman - I do have enough punch with the 13. Just watched cloverfield and almost knocked down a wall. Thinking about going 7.1 but Ihear mixed reviews.
  2. Two questions gents: I have a svs pb13 ultra sub, rf83's, rc64. and rs62 surrounds powered by 130 watt per channel denon 3808. 1) Can I add another sub and not take away from the current power? Will it sound even better and stronger? How can it hook into my receiver? 2) Does adding two more rs62;s really contribute to a better sound? Will that draw power away from my current system. Just preparing for the future. Not doing anything right now. Just curious Thanks Mark
  3. Learning from others mistakes is how we keep improving on our theaters. Glad to help. I will test them out and see. I went with black so if I had to attach the same material as on my screen frame to one side it would be virtually unnoticeable. I will know Friday.
  4. To all, I have a 120 inch screen in the theater and I have on issue with the new rf-83's that are being put up on Friday. The size and height of them cause them to sit within inches of either side of my screen and I am worried that the light reflected off of the projector screen is going to be annoying to me becuase it will be seen on either side of the speaker. I am wondering if I ran a piece of "velvet" sort of like on the edges of my screen on the left and right hand side of the rf-83's facing the screen, would that solve the problem. Right now only about 6 inches of my speakers sit over the screens bottom edge but the hight of the rf-83's will sit about 21 inches above. My main question is, will this in any way effect the sound that these great speakers produce or will I be fine putting non abrasive cloth on the speakers to fix the light issue. I am probably the only person that will ever even notice, but you know how in your own system you see every flaw and it can drive you crazy. Any thoughts on this? Thanks Mark
  5. Thanks everyone for the great advice. I appreciate it. My ears are untrained so it is hard for me to determine what the best sound options are. Mark
  6. I just upgraded my speaker system in my HT and was wondering what crossover frequency I should use. I am able to independently set each speaker. My setup will be powered by the Denon 3808 which has 130 watts per channel. I am clueless when it comes to the crossover freq and want to ensure that I get the best sound possible out of the speakers. I will be hooking up: RF83's for the fronts RC 64 for the center RS 62 for the rears Sub is a SVS Ultra PB 13 - 750 watts of power Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The speakers arrive on Friday and I am ready to get them hooked up correctly and calibrated as soon as possible since these are a huge upgrade from my current system. Thanks Mark
  7. The room is about 15 by 25, dedicated home theater. Almost 90% use for movies.
  8. Michael, Thanks for that great write up. That is what I was looking for. Excellent info, thanks for taking the time. I am going to go for it and get the 83's. I appreciate all the info. It is intimidating getting into high end speakers, or at least high end for people on a budget. The svs sub is unbelievable. My upgrade was supposed to end with that but it dwarfs the rest of my system now which is currently the Tannoy Mercury system. My buddy introduced me to it in his theater coupled with the 82 system and it is the cleanest, loudest, biggest, heaviest, sub I have ever encountered. I am by no means an expert but for the 1600 dollar price it seems to be a steal compared to others I have heard in that price range. I did a good two months worth of research and could not find one negative review, just praise. I will take pics of it all when it is all complete. Good luck on the house!!!
  9. The 63's were great. I agree. I hate not being able to demo the 83's but I guess they should sound as rich if not better than the 63's I would think. I also have only heard the 62 center and not the 64 which I am also going to get. I am pumped but honestly worried since I cant hear them in person right now. Thanks for the response.
  10. I have saved enough money to finally buy a quality pair of speakers. I am having a terrible time deciding which to purchase. I have heard the RF-82 and the RF-63. I was actually much more impressed with the 63's. They sounded great. So, I am leaning towards going with the 63's or 83's. My concern is that I am unable to hear the 83's and am going to have to purchase based on info that I receive from other members here in the forum. The 82's sounded much duller to me that the brightness I heard in the 63's. Will I hear that brightness in the 83's or are they going to be duller as the 82's were. I apologize about the confusion but any information or advice that anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. As I stated, I have saved for about a year here and dont mind the price, I just want to get the best audio quality for my theater. I will be using a 64 for my center and the 62's for the year. I appreciate any and all advice. I also am using the SVS PB13 sub and a denon 130 watt per channel receiver. Thank you, Mark
