  1. I do appreciate the economic difficulty of avoiding Chinese made components. Historically, Klipsch has been quite open about where and from whom they get their components. I'm simply looking for an official Klipsch response or at least a response from someone that has verifiable information (or at least inside knowledge - like colterphoto).
  2. OK. Gotcha. There are a number of true sunshiners about. I was trying to be diplomatic. It took a few goes. You knew what I meant. 😀 I'm simply curious as to the grand total of actual USA produced content. I'm not denigrating the source of whatever is currently installed and supplied. I posted in the Pro forum to see if Roy would reply. I'll give it some time and if nothing, I'll put it in the special forum for Jube owners. I know Roy reads that one.
  3. ...and 6 years later I ask: what are the distortion figures on any of them except the DTS-10? Ouch, indeed...
  4. How long have you been a contributor to these forums? Oh, right. Gotcha. What was that about attention seeking?
  5. Thanks. Most useful replies in the thread. Regarding the south Korea manufacture, how do you know this, RandyH000? I know the Heritage bins are made in Hope. I don't have any information on the Professional gear's bins. I suspect Hope. Suspect.
  6. I'd like to know just how much of these lines are actually USA made.
  7. They already do, the 1802... No, the 1802 only digs down to barely acceptable Hz levels. 26Hz @ +/- 3dB isn't remotely competitive with other horn or tapped horns, let alone the DD-18s. For music, sure. Great. However, for HT, it's a non starter. Sorry, but, complementing their CINEMA LINE, is what I was addressing. It's not truly deep. It's just a common sub. Not even a deep sub. Just because THX doesn't specify down to the sub 10Hz levels doesn't mean it's not there in a soundtrack. So, talking about THX spec is meaningless and pointless when it comes to HT, which even you further allude to. So, I'm really not sure who you're arguing with. Me, or yourself. The specs are comparable specs (similar environment). So,Unless it's sub 10Hz they are non starters for me. Praise them all you like. I can hit lower, louder and harder with smaller. I'd like horn but the 1802s just aren't in the running. I support the horn loaded argument. I'm simply saying it's not practical for HT with current offerings when you want a fair and reasonable space allocation for the sub(s).
  8. I'd love to go horn loaded (or even tapped horn) on the very deep bottom end but the size of the subs becomes ridiculous. I run a pair of DD-18s and I can make the windows nearly fall out of their frames at under 10Hz without even running them at maximum. As for accuracy, well, I don't think anyone really has just cause to complain about the Velodyne Digital Drive system. As tight as any serious horn loaded sub I've ever heard (which really isn't many). The DD-18s are huge but compared to any horn loaded sub that can dig as deep, accurately and loud, they are tiny. Maybe one fine day Klipsch will produce a truly deep horn loaded sub to complement their cinema line. Nothing stopping them but plain economics... However, should that day ever come, I'll be a buyer. 10. About $12K including GST by sea and excluding the KPT-1201 for a pair. Note, no KPT-Grand-HF-T tweeters in that. Probably a bit over $14K with the tweeters.
  11. I can tell you what they cost me in February 2010: That's from Edge Digital in QLD.
  12. I can see where we would all be curious about this. Just keep in mind that for THX theaters, going much below 25 Hz. is not part of the specification. Whereas, with the advent of all the tapped horns out there and the HT guys that dig down to single digit sub sub bass, I do get the reasoning behind your question. I'm wanting to convert to horns on the sub but with 2 x DD-18, it's difficult to find a suitable substitute. The DD-18s aren't the best but they are (in tandem) PDG (Pretty Damn Good) and in tandem will provide very solid single digit levels. However, it's more the 15-25Hz range I'm interested in. There's a lot in that range that's worth listening to, err, feeling. I do appreciate that a great many folks don't realise what's there, but believe me, it is, and I want it.
  13. Is there a frequency response graph for this sub anywhere? 26Hz +/- 3dB is pretty solid but not enough to cope with a lot of LFE out there. I'm quite interested in what it can do below that and the graph would give some indication.
  14. I need high end electronics. I even use them for making my bicycles change gear. []
  15. I have a NAD DB1 available. Bought from England a couple of years ago but ended up being useless to me as we use DAB+ over here. So, I use the fugly boxy DB2 instead. Plugs into later model NAD receivers. http://nadelectronics.com/products/accessories/DB-1-DAB-Adaptor Nothing wrong with it. £60 posted. Does that sound reasonable? If not, make me a reasonable offer.
  16. Does anyone use Tung oil on their enclosures? If so, for the veneered enclosures, are you diluting it and at what ratio?
  17. If it's got the remote then the other flaws are fixable. Assuming it functions fine it would be something I would give a lot of thought to. It's no boom box, but a really serious 15" sub.
  18. The main questions are: How big is the room? How low do you want to go (i.e. boom, crash and rumble in HT or just reinforcement for music?) How loud do you want it to be?
