  1. Greetings. I have the same Pioneer model. Finding an original power cord is a bit of a trick. There is a possibility you could make one out of a 2 prong extension cord, especially an older one you might find in a second hand store...that would be my first choice. 2nd choice would be to go to your local electronic supply house or Radio Shack and find an IEC power cord recepticle to wire in to the Pioneer. It is the same sixe and would be an easy conversion. Regarding the operation of the unit...I could kind of "talk you through" how to operate it...just let me know what you need. Bill H.
  2. Nice Khorns..I got my 81's in walnut from a friend's father 5 years ago for $1000. I am stunned how well they sound. Regarding amps...Khorns are so incredibly efficient that you don't need much power for them to sing. They were originally designed back in the day of low power tube amps...so that is what I use to drive mine. I have a vintage Dynaco ST-70 and Dynaco PAS 2 preamp that have both been modified with upgraded boards and power supplies, using vintage tubes, and they make my Khorns just sing....fabulous midrange, deep, tight bass, beautiful, wide soundstage...and, best of all, I am probably only using 3-4 watts! The Dynaco is rated at 35 wpc (more like 30 realistically) so the amp is just above an idle. Vintage Dynaco gear is still very reasonably priced. You can find a ST-70/PAS2 or 3 setup for less than $500 if you shop carefully. Best of luck...and have fun!
  3. Thanks for the input. Is there a specific voltage rating I need to look for with regards to the caps? Will 50v or 100v be adequate?
  4. Thank you all for taking the time to send me this info. I agree with the incremental approach: just changing caps with some hi-grade caps (Sonicaps or Solens, or...?) and enjoy it for now...then after I get rich and famous (or cash in my stash of beer bottles a few times) I can spring for some ALK or BC xovers. Is there any reason for me to continue with the AA xover? I understand it provides tweeter protection from excessive power....but I currently drive the Khorns with a modded Dynaco ST70 (Maybe 30 watts), and will be building a flea powered SET after I cash in LOTSA beer bottles.
  5. Greetings. I would like to update my '81 khorn AA xovers...or, at least replace the old caps. How can I find out what value the old caps are?? Thanks all for your time....[H]
