    Dennie, please don't leave.

Thank you my friend (s), I only thought about leaving, when the "higher ups" thought music was meaningless to this forum.  I knew someone lost their mind and I thought it might be me.  whistle.gif

This is a family and I've always thought of it like that.  You don't pick your family, you learn to get along with it.  banghead.gif

We're all here for one common reason, we have an interest/love in Klipsch Speakers/products and that makes this different than most forums.  I am glad each and every one of you are here.

If the powers that be want us to have 5000 posts to enter an elite forum, let it be so.  I could care less, as there is probably nothing in that forum that interests me.  I am here because of Klipsch and you guys, my family.

Thanks for letting me be a part of this group.  I'm proud to be a member here and I always will be.  I've never met a better group of people.  We've gave money to members who were having a hard time.  We Prayed for family members and we've lost members that were a part of our every day lives.  We're still here and we'll continue to be.

Here is to all of you and our beloved Klipsch speakers...   drinkingcheers.gif

I've said my Peace and I respect whatever the family decides.

You are in big trouble if that's the case!  Odd thing is, he knows the difference, but doesn't care!   It's the same when he types "maybe", he knows the difference but figures everyone else will understand anyway! :o

It frustrates the heck out of me to read his posts.  I'm generally a grammar freak!  Knowing that he knows better and still does it frustrates me to no end. Which is possibly why he does it!!!!!

Or, he may be like me and wants to get the post written and posted, grammar is an after thought.

Wait!  You're right and I'm going to stop letting him mentor me!  Dam it, now I'm pissed off at him too!   ......   tappingfoot.gif

    Then get rid of it.

    That's not gonna happen. Sorry.

You are right though, nobody here is "elite" - including me. Everyone has an equal opportunity to see that No BS forum, it just so happens there is a minimum post limit to do so. Nobody is excluded from being able reaching that post count.

Except people with a life who don't sit on here all day long or have OCD.

...and people who had there post count deleted, when they dumped the old "Right This Minute" threads!

I think the "protected thread" should go by time here, not post count.  I see a lot of posts that have no benefit to this forum whatsoever.

That was in consideration, however that wouldn't exactly be a better solution. A BETTER solution would be to base it off the reputation system, but there currently isn't a way to do that with the stock forums.

    Then get rid of it.

No one here is elite.  We're all music lovers!

If people want to talk about other things, go somewhere else.  NO BULLSHIT!

Keep it simple and don't put some above others.  SIMPLE

    Just my opinion, again.

  6. I can see PM not counting as regular post but, anything that is  a thread should count IMHO.  I think the protected thread has merit.  A lot of the recent discussion on the forum has been concerning who is included and who is excluded.  I think Chad pick a 5000 post count as a metric based on a forum participationship.

Klipsch can set whatever metric they want without explanation. Changing criteria on which post counts and don't count in our totals does not seem to be the right track.  Amy was a great moderator and the current mod are also great and trying to do their job to the very best.  Klipsch needs to be solid on what it is doing on this issue and not go back and forth.  Make a decision and stick to it!

I think the "protected thread" should go by time here, not post count.  I see a lot of posts that have no benefit to this forum whatsoever.

If you've been here a few years, you get it.  If you've said "LOL" 5000 times, you may not "get it".  You may just be drunk.  (not that there is anything wrong with that).

    But again, just my opinion.

  7. I don't understand the question, but there are many, many things I don't understand.  I'm okay with that.

I'd just like to say that "The Klipsch Forum" seems to be going down the drain.  Why?  I'm really not sure, but to say that posts in the "Right This Minute" thread are meaningless and will not count as "posts" is pretty unfair to music lovers and Klipsch lovers.

I think PWK would agree and Boxx would certainly agree.  If listening to music dosen't count, I'm in the wrong place.

    I call BullShit!   :pwk_bs:

But, that is me and there are many other places on the internet I can go and feel like my posts are valued.

It's been a long and very enjoyable run.

Thank you and may God bless you and keep you all.   Thank you for letting me participate on this once great forum.

  8. Hey Steven, we're glad you are here.  I've always felt blessed to have so many members here who are knowledgeable about my beloved hobby and I am grateful for each and every one of you posting your thoughts, opinions and experiences with it.

Not that hard to understand.  It's kind of like the Khorn, it has worked for years, lets not try to fix it!  naughty.gif

If you'd like to share your thoughts, opinions and experiences on those topics, you can use the PM feature.

  9. I've probably owned this for a year or more and was never sure I wanted to watch it.  I love Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's works, but I wasn't sure how this would be.  The wife wanted to watch it last night, so we did.

Well, it was great.  It has some great 3D effects, like when Alice falls down the rabbit hole and near the end, a butterfly comes out of the screen and nearly touches the wife and I.  Just WOW!   I don't have any experience with the book or any other "Alice In Wonderland" Movies.  So this was my only experience with "Alice".

It is rated "PG" and has some scenes that might scare younger watchers, but if you have older kids (10 or above) I think they may enjoy it.

  10. Welcome Mmayfly, we're glad you are here.

I have my outdoor speakers out in the yard, aimed back at the patio.  This way we can have conversations without speakers above our heads.

I have one on the right side of the yard and the other on the left side of the yard.  Stereo imaging is very good.

I just wanted to give you a little different perspective.

    Keep us posted,

  11.

    Finally watched Interstellar tonight.

    Great ride.

Would have enjoyed it even more if it wasn't for the asinine post from derrickdj1 (#1144).

    Geezz, who does that ?!?

    Smiley_Tiny_Blowup.gif

EDIT: If you've yet to watch Interstellar.... don't read the aforementioned post #1144

or you'll be as pissed as I am.

im gonna wait a while to watch and hopefully forget that he wrote that. He thought it was no big deal. Seemed kind of unlike him to do that.

Maybe we can ask him to edit his post.

    PLEASE!!!

    Thanks,

    Dennie

  12. It is hard to believe it has been a month since Boxx's passing.  I miss him being here everyday, but am honored to have known him and to have enjoyed many, many hours pursuing this hobby together.

Rest In Peace my friend, I miss you dearly, but my life is richer for knowing you.

    Here's to you.....  drinkingcheers.gif

It was one of Boxx's favorites.

How many times did I engage Boxx here and come away thinking "Ovilla isn't that far...need to spend some time with this guy."  Here's yet another reason I regret not acting on it.

    Dave

I had plans to be in Tomball, TX this past summer to visit my Father-in-law and was going to stop in to see Boxx.   My Mother-in-law was diagnosed with Cancer, so I spent the summer going back and forth to Medford, OR instead.  I mentioned to Boxx I would see him next summer.  Dam it!

  14. Thank Everybody for the suggestions I really feel like this could make for a great resource when someone wants to hear some new Acoustic

Abdullah Ibriham,  Sotho Blue......................Excellent, again credit this to Justin :emotion-21:  :emotion-21:  :emotion-21:

Jackson Brown, Solo Acoustic, Volumes 1 & 2 are OUTSTANDING (I like volume 1 best, volume 2 he gets a tad political between tracks and I frankly could care less what musicians or actors think about politics. IMHO they have a distorted view of the real world) :emotion-21:  :emotion-21:  :emotion-21:

Calexico, Lay in the Reins (superb) :emotion-21:  :emotion-21:  :emotion-21:

I completely agree.  I listened to Jackson Browne Solo Acoustic Vol. 1 & 2 once and heard the "Political" comments and was completely turned off by them.  I'm not sure I will ever listen to it again.    Thanks for mentioning that!

  15. The Wife and I are always looking for movies with good American values, like this series we watched a few years ago....

    914bK93eGjL_zpsd4bf8dee.jpg

So, we were looking around amazon and came across one of (both of) our favorite TV series from childhood (or so)....

    91QVVd8IbiL_zps1ab6eec6.jpg

This is the best video we've ever seen "LHOTP", sharp, clean and in HD!  The audio is DTS MA 2.0 and is fine for this old series and for about $17, it is a steal for about 22 episodes and the original pilot movie.

We're getting ready to start Season 2....

    71m3dN0ND9L_zpsffe3b6bd.jpg

We have season 3 on standby and season 4 comes out tomorrow.  The rest of the 9 seasons are supposed to be released around September of this year.

A trip down memory lane with good wholesome values.  We'll watch these with the Grandkids also.  :D

  16. Dennie, right on with Cooder.  He's done some awesome discs both musically and technically.  "Jazz" is one of my favorites in all regards.

    Dave

Thanks for the reminder Dave, I'll have to pull that one out and give it a spin.

A Meeting By The River -- SACD

    Ry Cooder & V.M. Bhatt

    1993/2008 Waterlily/Analogue Productions

A Meeting by the River can best be described as a spontaneous outpouring of music, unhindered by convention or form, brought into being by musicians so supremely capable that the music is never labored, the technique of their craft always subservient to the final product. Cooder and Bhatt are genuine masters of the guitar and mohan vina, respectively. The latter, an instrument created by Bhatt himself, is a sort of hybrid between a guitar and a vichitra vina, and is played with a metal slide. This fact is just one of the many things that connect Bhatt's playing to Cooder's, who plays nothing but bottleneck guitar here. The musical interplay between Cooder and Bhatt is nothing short of astounding, especially so considering that they met for the first time only a half-hour before the recording of this album. The voices of the two instruments blend marvelously, first alternating melodic statements, then doing so together, each dancing around the other, playing cat and mouse, probing, answering, reflecting. They are ably accompanied by a pair of percussionists: tabla player Sukhvinder Singh Namdhari and Cooder's own son, Joachim, on dumbek. A Meeting by the River is one of those few cross-genre albums in which the listener never feels for a second that there is some kind of fusion going on; one does not hear the component parts so much as the integrated whole. However, one can theoretically separate guitar from vina, America from India, the Mississippi from the Ganges. Once this is done, the resulting music makes more sense than ever before, the combination of two traditions of stringed instruments that use slides to produce sound and value improvisation and voice-like phrasing. As good as this sounds on paper, the actual results are even more impressive. The splendor of the music is aided in its transmission by the fact that, like all Water Lily Acoustics releases, this album is masterfully recorded; each instrument is clear, distinct, and three-dimensional sounding. A Meeting by the River is a must-own, a thing of pure, unadulterated beauty, and the strongest record in Cooder's extensive catalog. ~ Daniel Gioffre

  18. Blessings to Mr. boxx's family.

No need to wish Mr. Box anything other than to have pleasant journey. It is he who is in a better place. It is us who need to deal with worldly issues, such as pain, and so forth.

I lost my step dad, Bill Knapp, last July. It was he who introduced me to the world audiophilia. I've since inherited my step dad's audio equipment. At first, I felt a tremendous guilt, but then, I realized that no one would appreciate his rig more than me. I listen to it, and think of him every single day with great gratitude and pride.

The way I see it, I'm borrowing Bill's equipment. I will take care and hold onto this rig until my own time comes. That's the deal. Hopefully, there will be someone who will one day feel the same way I do now.

We're bound by memories, this equipment and the sweet love of music.

    My condolences,

    Joseph

Good to have you with us Joseph, we're glad you are here.
