  1. That's the one thing....The Prelude have a horn like tweeter (actually a wave guide). As I've had a time to listen even further over the weekend....I think I've reached the point of diminishing returns (finally). My beloved Cornwalls can do some things better than the Preludes!!!! That's why I'm not getting rid of them ... at all. I think this effectively ends my speaker journey as I can't see the point of throwing more money at minor improvements. The depth was a major improvement, however my Cornwall's mated with the Fostex super-tweeters - had a top end resolution that the Preludes can't match. The Preludes give me feet of living space back, the Cornwalls have better dynamics (even though the Preludes dynamics are great as well - If I would describe their dynamics - it would be more like my Heresy...but a little better, the Cornwalls dyanmics are better than both). It's a compromise - but as I do not wish to sell my Cornwalls....I refuse to compromise!!!! If I ever get tired of the Prelude sound....out come the Cornwalls :D!!!!! I think I now have the best of both worlds. If my room was bigger - no telling....If I had corner...Khorns, but I'm not moving anytime soon. Life is good with both the Cornwalls and the Infinity's!!!!
  2. Well, the verdict is in....the Preludes beat my Cornwalls....but not by much! My modded Cornwalls are much more efficient (the new crossovers took them to 4 ohms speakers). However, the Preludes just image much better than my Cornwalls....the soundstage is just as wide and the Preludes front to back soundstage is bigger as well. I'm not selling the Cornwalls though, I'm going to keep them! The Preludes are no longer made, and parts are hard to come by. The Cornwalls (well most of the Heritage series can be included in this), however are the Harley Davidson of the speaker world! You can mod them to death, take them back to stock, and there are plenty of parts made for them!!!! I think I now have the best of both worlds with these two sets of speakers. However - I will need to change my signature, as the Preludes have taken center stage. I'm still a Klipsch head though!!!! If I only had a big enough room.....and corners...........
  3. Generally, if the motherboard, memory, and video chipset are the same - you'll have no issues with Windows 7 and below. YMMV....
  4. Agreed, my Cornwalls look way better than those LS's !!!! $750 is a bit much in my opinion (considering the condition).
  5. P.S. The original box also includes the original Styrofoam inserts as well.
  6. I'll let you know if I'm willing to let go of my Cornwalls. I actually have three...two regular Cornwall 1's and 1 Vert. Mine have ALK vB crossovers, Crites CT125 tweeters, and custom smoked glass tops. They are finished in Oiled Walnut - they are mighty fine speakers indeed. Grills are 100% and they also have the Jubilee Copper insignia (along with the ALK insignia as well). One other bonus, they each have the Heritage brochure tacked on to the back of the speakers as well. I'm not sure on getting rid of these, but if I do - I'll PM you unless you've already purchased some. I'm about 232 miles away from you in the Florida Panhandle about 25 miles south of Brewton AL.
  7. They seem to have gotten this right - everyone I know of in the forums (this one and Bluray.com) have had nothing but success after the fix. The warranty is attached to the serial number of product (not the owner) - so they will honor the Nov 2018 date.
  8. im confused about the first part of this? You say ditch the ceiling speakers for atmos and get the real atmos speakers? What do you mean by that? Agreed - ceiling speakers work much better than "bouncing the sound from the ceiling" that Atmos speakers claim to do (they do it - but you've got a point source with ceiling speakers).
  9. There's a fourth one out of camera view.
  10. Ok, I've gotta get in on this one - Here's a picture from a friends house the other day in Woodlawn Beach (Navarre) Fl. This is in the back yard!
  11. Bump - Price change, $200 shipped or best reasonable offer. This thing is heavy!
  12. My son and I installed 60 inch monitors in a church fellowship hall doing this. No problem at all !!!!
  13. It was the all too familiar HDMI/Ethernet board issue. Onkyo has replaced the board and it has an extended warranty until Nov of 2018 It works perfectly since the repair. I've since moved on to a 11.2 prepro/receiver and its a shame this one is just sitting around.
  14. I think that's a pawn shop and they are pretty firm ...until they've been there a minute.
  15. SOLD!!!! Unit has been repaired by Onkyo and is currently under warranty until November 2018!!!! I have the original box and I have Audyssey mic, remote, and manual. Unit is very clean. I've never driven speakers with it - I've only used it as a prepro.
