  1. Well I have to agree the sub on the promedias is easily about 3-4 times stronger (or so it seems) than the one in the DTT2500's, I guess that makes them worth it, but not having a digital connection (not even the new promedias 5.1),not having a dolby digital decoder and not having a center channel wasnt very good, its a tradeoff I guess...
  2. I have the promedias 4.1, and used to have the DTT2500... I see that lot of people here bash Creative speakers for some reason, and I'll tell you what, its just NOT true; aside from a (much) stronger bass and better defined highs the promedias are not that superior to the DTT2500 model. If I were to rate them on sound quality (this is subjective though) I would give the DTT2500 a 6/10 were I would give the promedias a 7.5/10. So it's simple enough, if you are interested on DVD movies definitely go for the DTT2500, or better yet, the promedias 5.1, but those are $125 more expensive and the odds of getting a defective set seems to be a lil' to high. If all you want to do is listen to music you'll enjoy the better defined sound and deeper bass of the promedias. By the way, if they get too loud just turn the subwoofer knob lower, there shouldn't be any problem with the speakers being too loud or unbalanced, as they can handle pretty tight bass even at lower volumes.
  3. Sorry to dissapoint you but the sub was also upgraded (160W to 200), and 6.5" drivers to 8".
  4. I got my promedias 4.1 not even 2 weeks ago (replaced them for my cambridge soundworks DTT2500 system with a 10" JBL sub), and reading now the announcement of the 5.1 promedia system has made me reach a whole new level of anger beyond explanation... That said, I want to give some advice to Klipsch just in case I decide to go through the ordeal of selling the 4.1's and my SB platinum to get a 5.1 sound card and the 5.1's. (damn klipsch! and damn me and my pride...) 1.Please get rid of the sh**** 1/8 miniplugs for the speakers, they crackle every time you move them the slightest and sometimes the speakers even mute, this is not fair for $300) 2.Also get rid of those cheap speaker cables, they are way too thin and fragile. 3.Do something about the excessive subwoofer heat 4.You should include a dolby digital decoder with them, cambridge soundworks does this for $300, and no matter what all of you say, the DTT2500's sound better on dolby digital then the 4.1's. 5.Get rid of the random crackling when one turns the volume dial. 6.Go for a digital input once and for all... If Klipsch is able to fix all these serious issues (which are serious when u pay upwards of $300) the new system should blow away all the competition, otherwise its not worth $400, way too high... 5. I got a lil problem with that Y connector, from the pic in radioshack.com the adapter is apparently too big and both Y adapters wouldn´t fit because the front out and rear out connectors on the live card are too close! Even if I only used one it would probably also block the rear out. I need help!, is there any cable Y connector and not this bold adapter?
  6. press the button on the control pod and the light will turn green, but I think that by the time you read this you'll have already figured that out....
  7. Thanks for your reply DwK, although I find it tempting to connect both the DTT2500 and the promedias, I'm afraid that it would be overkill!? (3 subs, 5 cambridge speakers, 4 klipsch speakers), besides, wouldn't that mess up the whole sound, you know, having all these different stuff hooked up might result in ugly sound, but maybe, just maybe, I'd be able to match them decently? Im also thinking that the cambridge rear speakers would be left out since i'm using the promedias for the rear, but what if I use another Y connector?, well anyways Im not so sure that such a setup would sound good at all, but surely it would blow away anyone with the sheer volume. BUT I could then stay with the dolby digital decoder of the cambridge speakers, I really miss that one, I do think that the dolby 5.1 with the DTT2500's and the JBL subwoofer combo sounded much better on DVD than the promedias do in DVD (4 point surround), again this is just a personal opinion, b4 u all start flaming me...
  8. I have the old platinum card (not 5.1) , but it has a line in connection, I read somewhere that this is just like the center/sub connector on the SB 5.1?? I plugged in that sub to the sub out on the DTT2500's decoder and it worked perfectly... So how would this Y cable thing work exactly like?, would I connect the front spk and sub plug to the Y cable and then the Y one to the front spk out on the sound card, and just connect the rear speakers as normally? Thanks
  9. Well I bought a 10" PSW-D110 JBL subwoofer for my past system (Cambridge DTT2500) and I was wondering if there was any way to hook up this Sub to my new Promedia 4.1 speakers. I don't wanna get rid of the promedia sub, it sounds very impressive for it's size, I would say about 20-25% less punch than the JBL subwoofer, but that one weights 15 kg and it's about twice in size too... So is there any way to connect both subwoofers and blow my ears away with the whole system? (I have a SB live platinum card) Thanks in advance
