  1. The center channel wire wasn't making contact. Easy fix, thank goodness.
  2. Can't for the life of me get a TC-P50GT30 and BD-310 working correctly with a Onkyo HT-R590 receiver. The receiver says it's putting out DTS-HD sound but I can only hear background sounds and no voice track on the Avatar 3D blu ray disc. Does anyone know how to properly configure these pieces to work? Thank you
  3. It took Elliott four months to return a non working amp that wasn't even the one I sent him in the first place. I had to pay shipping again to return that one for repair. I would advise avoiding Elliott like the plague he is. I would go with the guy in Minnesota for repairs as I've never heard anything negative about him. Can't find my correspondence with him but he is stpeteshepard on ebay. http://reviews.ebay.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Ultra-amp-THX-5-1-Computer-Speakers_W0QQugidZ10000000010358270 He's stpete cooling on this forum. Henry I think, he repairs and adds a cooling fan to the amp. Quicker turnaround and much better communication, though he may be getting busy these days.
  4. If you are so inclined there is a 27 page thread on hardforum.com title Klipsch Promedia 5.1's-Amp repair. www.thompdale.com has published a schematic.
  5. http://reviews.ebay.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Ultra-amp-THX-5-1-Computer-Speakers_W0QQugidZ10000000010358270 [cut and paste the link before this, this site won't format the link] stpetesheperd on ebay posts that guide about the Ultras. He also sells a cooling kit and does refurbishing work. I have not yet used his services but he is more open about what he does and shares more repair information than Elliot Sanchez ever would. He is also very quick to respond to communication and generous with suggestions. I also have not heard anything negative about Henry and he has a 100% positive on Ebay. It's no wonder Elliot doesn't go through Ebay anymore. He no longer has a comment page he can erase all negative comments from...
  6. I believe it is such a great sounding piece of equipment that I will pay to refurbish it again someday! It dang sure won't go back to Elliot but I will give Henry Koch in Minnesota a shot at it with his experience upgrading parts and adding a cooling fan setup.
  7. I have to withdraw my recommendation to use Elliot. I really have to wonder if he isn't running a Ponzi like scheme after my experience. After sending my Ultra to him I heard nothing and had unanswered emails for over two months. Then the promises of shipment which failed to materialize for weeks. Then I finally got an amp after over four months which wasn't the one I sent him and didn't even work. My original was gently used with no signs of overheating while the one he sent looked as if it had been cooked in a microwave. Elliot claimed mine had been unrepairable and I find this to be complete BS. I bet he easily repaired mine and sent it to someone else. I had to pay the shipment to return this one to him which he finally returned saying there had been bad solder joints. It worked for less than a year and now the center and right channels cut out intermittently, very annoying. Not like it's been pushed either as all I do is listen to TV sound through the Ultras. It's damn sure not going back to Elliot Sanchez unless he is going to stand behind his work and fix it and pay the shipping both ways. To be honest I don't want him anywhere near it as I might never see it again! I should have taken a clue when I followed his old Ebay blog for a while. He would have good and bad reviews in the blog but mysteriously the bad reviews and posts from people wondering where their amp was kept disappearing so that only good comments would remain. Talk about dishonest. Ebay apparently woke up to the fact Elliot wasn't going though them anymore for his repairs and took the blog down. I have found another person doing repair/upgrade work and plan to send him my amp one of these days soon. Once I have it back for a while I'll give a report on how that goes. Good luck to those of you with amps in Cedar Hill Texas limbo and sorry if my support for Elliot had a part in stranding them there.
  8. Mine were $359 from Newegg six years ago. They worked great for over five years then needed repair. Elliot refurbished the amp with mil-spec parts and they now sound even better. You should jump on a NIB set for $325. They sound fantastic.
  9. It's not a problem with the speakers Bill. The Bash amp fails. Mine weren't used for Prolonged High Volumes. I love them for their clear accurate sound and their ability to be loud on occasion. Another virtue is they don't take up a lot of space like your idea. For their relatively low price, even with a repair by Elliot after five years of use, they are the best computer speakers to be found. I hope for many more years after Eliot's refurbishment.
  10. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1268387&page=9 looong thread http://www.thompdale.com/bash_amplifier/bash_amp.htm schematics http://www.elliot-tronics.com/ where I got mine fixed better than new http://www.sybesmas.com/home.html where Klipsch now sends it's customers for repairs to the Promedia. 12. Have you looked at any of the dozens(hundreds) of threads on this subject? There is a post or two like yours EVERY week of someone wanting the answer to their amp failure spoon fed to them. Sorry, I'm just fed up with people who don't appear to have made the slightest effort to search the forum first before posting.
  13. If they give you what you want AND pay for shipping the very heavy sub AND pay to repair it they'll have more in it than it cost new!
  14. You know you can have the amp fixed better than new for $120.
  15. The black piece is the power on/off relay. It's a common failure point in amp.
