  1. Don't mix the two lines, I would get the RF-5's for your mains since you already have the RC-35 center. Then on another note I would get the Heresy II's and setup a two channel system in the bedroom.... [] Good luck!!
  2. Not to be negative, on your subs (as they are great subs), but I had the same issue in my basement room (concrete floors), i tried them all, 10", dual 10", single and dual 12" and a single 15", and in the end I choose to build some custom 15" boxes tuned to 18 hrz and used the KA-1000 subwoofer amp to power them. Even then it took some time to find the right placement for them, but in the end, I ended up with the sound and feel that I was looking for. I know that not everyone is willing to spend 1k on a subwoofer amp, when you can buy a really nice powered sub for that price, but for less than 2k I have dual 15" subs that can hit 18 hrz all day long. I love your room, nice and clean great colors, and your pictures are awsome!! good luck with your subs..... ~ ross
  3. hey youthman, Been away for awhile, nice addition to your setup I see, I agree though you should watch U-571 it's great when you have the subs for it!!
  4. careful, read the small print, that is only when you buy two or more that you get the sale price. I finally got a chance to hear the emotiva sub (12") that a friend of mine picked up for his system, very nice sub all around movies and music, I think he paid 430.00 with free shipping. Otherwise, from what I have personaly heard and or owned I would suggest the rsw-12 if you can find one on CL.

    subs

Welcome to the forum, I would suggest it depends on your room size, if it is a smaller room the 10" would be just fine, if a larger room then I would go with the 12" sub. Youthman is right though, lots of folks here don't use klipsch subs, there are alot of great ones out there for a great price. Good Luck ~ross
  6. I agree with big cliff, I have to say that I really enjoy the sound quality from both the Chorus I and II's, I have owned both and can say for the price you can't go wrong. I have my Chorus I's matched with an Academy center and Heresy I back surrounds for movies and when I listen to music (i'm more music than movies) I also use a pair of older ss-1 side speakers for 7.1 stereo. I also run the mains in 2 channel mode with my subs and once again it sounds awesome. I also use external amplification running 2 carver 806x's 1 bridged to around 365w to the mains and the other has two cannels bridged to 365w to the acadamy and 135 to the other 4 speakers. Granted I haven't listed to organ music on my system but I am sure that you would be most happy with the sound that they can reproduce. Welcome!! Good Luck
  7. I listen to more music than movies (65/35 split) I am using Chorus I as mains academy for a center and Heresy back surrounds and to my suprise my old set of SS-1 as side surrounds. I actually had them as back surrounds before I got the heresy's. I really like the sound of the ss-1 with the setup, just my opinion, but they are easy to mount on the wall and sound good with the heratige speakers. I don't know in your area, bu here they can be found for about a 100.00 pair. Good Luck
  8. My room is 13x15, and I have chorus mains, spaced about 8 feet apart is all, I think that it really sounds good I had a pair of chours II's but sold them a bit ago. I have mine built in the wall so I kept the chorus I's for the front ports. I also had some fortes II that really sounded great as well. Good Luck
  9. Nice Picture, I really liked my Chorus II's, but I had to sell them.... to buy some other items I really like...

  14. not real sure why it would be louder [^o)], but here is what happened to me. I had the same issue with a hum that was driving me crazy, I upgraded to a onkyo tx-sr705 for the HDMI switching, upon swapping it with my integra, I powered everything up and wham there it was. I spent weeks trying to figure out where it was comming from. I did the same sort of tests unhooking and swapping cables, I even swapped my integra back and it had aquired the hum. Well after several fustrated weeks I realized that I had looked at every cable except my sub cable. I had a 30' cable to go through the walls and such, I ran down to BB and bought a new cable tried the new one and wolla no hum. I never thought of looking at it before, might want to try that cable if you haven't already. Not really lookin forward to replacing the cable in the wall though!! Hear your pain though..... [:@] good luck ~ross
  15. Solid amps had a couple of HCA1000's and a HCA750, sold them to get my Carve 806x. ~ross
  16. Sure many people will run two subs, most of the newer AVR's have option for 7.2 surround with the .2 as the dual subs. IMO. I would suggest that having two different subs moreso when they're different sizes is not so good, mostly as one will outperform the other which can be very distracting during music playback, like I said though just my opinion. Check out the 1 vs.2 sub thread that was started recently There is more info there as well. ~ ross
  17. I have never heard the PA-150, so I can't really compare the two against each other. I have owned the RW-12D and it was a good sub, I personally like to listen to a lot of music and it just wasn't for me, great for HT. If it were me, I would look at a different sub that will work in both cases, plenty of great sounding subs out there. Good Luck ~Ross
  18. I got mine a little over year ago and really like it, it is a very versitle amp, it can be used in may ways, three channel bridged to 360w At 8ohms for front stage, or 6 channel at 130w at 8ohms, it has great head room although I don't remember the specs off the top of my head. I have mine running 3 channel to my Chorus I mains and Academy center, then using my Onkyo for the other channels. I paid 325.00 for mine, I've seen others go for between 375 - 425. If you come across a carver M400 it's a nice 200 x 2 as well, I regret selling mine a couple years back. Good Luck ~ross
  19. I agree!! I would never consider mixing the THX series with others, my LRD has a room setup with this system and it most certainly rocks!!!
  20. I think that your system will sound great, but IMO it will be lacking in the LFE area. I would look to see if you can find a deal on a 10" sub, like a sub 10, rw-10. Like you said you should hook it up and listen for yourself first. Good Luck and Welcome!! ~ross
  21. I like the dual sub setup myself, I don't suggest mixing sizes though as mixing different subs will also reduce the success of canceling out room resonances since they will exhibit different amplitude and phase responses. You will most likely focus on the 10" that is underperforming vs the Sub 12. I would suggest selecting two subwoofers (preferably the same model) that are each in their own capable of filling your theater room with ample bass without bottoming out or running out of gas. Most likely running dual 10's are not what you are looking for, I would look to dual 12's or stepping up to a single 15" sub or dual 15's if you can afford it. I went with the KA-1000-THX sub amp and did DIY dual 15's, the amp was a bit on the spendy side but I was able to buy my subs and build the enclosures at a very reasonable price. Good Luck ~ross
  22. Another question to ask yourself is are you more movies or music? As Big Dog mentioned for movies I would look as the RS series with your current system I would look at the RS-52's. Then on the other hand if you are more a music person and like all chan stereo, I would consider the RB-81's. Before I went to heritage, I had 4 RF-82's and RB-81's with a RC-62 center with a RW-12D sub, and of coarse it sounded great for both movies and most defening for music!! Good Luck ~ross
  23. I just picked up new a Yahmaha RX-A700 brought it home and hoooked everything up, I got it for the HDMI connectivity. I hooked up my PS3 and my Dish and ran pre-outs to my Carver 806x. I powered everything up and started getting a buzz out of my front stage. I unhooked everything took it back and got the RX-A800 brought it home and the got the same buzz. Sigh.... So I spent a day tracking it down, thinking that I have a ground loop, never had this problem with the Inegra reciever I had, but wasn't running HDMI through it either. So it seems that I have figured it out that the buzz is comming from the PS3 connection, the wierd thing is that if I unhook everything and hook it back up and watch tv there is no buzz, but as soon as I switch to the PS3 the buzz comes back and then dosen't go away. Not real sure what to do, two totally different recievers same problem, have tried to see if it is a PS3 thing, no luck so far seriously considering taking it back and going back to Integra, such as the 40.1. I really like the GUI feature on the A800 to.... ~ross
  24. Another thought can be looking on the used market for a pair of Fortes or Chorus I or II's, they will most definetly fill your room for listening to music and dancing. Then look for a center, such as a KLF-C7, Academy or even a single Heresy speaker. I have Chorus I's for front and will switch to two channel for listening to music, they sound awsome. good luck ~ross
  25. Just to through in my 2 cents, take a look at the integra DTR 40.1 plenty of hdmi inputs and power. ~ross
