  1. Few pages of amplifiers porn for all the perverts out there [] enjoy. http://forum.speakerplans.com/the-amplifier-internals-thread_topic23787.htmlhttp://forum.speakerplans.com/amp-internals-2_topic44897.html
  2. Maybe i should have been careful with my wording, the amp can be bias improperly and present ''excessive'' voltage at the output and be enough to burn the tweeter, can be clipping too early from being over driven in early stage/defective. Burning tweeter at this rate is not normal so i would check the wiring in the speaker/crossover to make sure everything is ok and if no joy get the amplifier bench check, hope this is better for explanation.
  3. I would get the amplifier check, probably passing DC. Double check your wiring in the crossover to speaker to make sure everything i wired properly.I do have a 200 watts per side amp pluged to a 20 watts tweeter in a Tri-amp set up and i never blown a tweeter in 5 years and trust me i did run my system stupidly extremly loud(way pass concert level did hit +130 db @ 8 feet away in the basement) to impress friend couple time when drunk [<)]
  4. this is not a program but a video just find the codec(script that can read the specified format) required for your computer http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=pIf&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&q=.mov+windows+media+player&aq=1&aqi=g2g-s1g7&aql=&oq=.mov+windows&gs_rfai= Gee i cannot post it as a link sorry just cut and paste in your web browser.
  5. Same for me i run a 3 ways active system in my basement and the amplifier for my 20 watts tweeters is a Crown CSL460(yes could have a smaller amp but i got it for cheap) that is 205 watts a side and i never, ever burnt a tweeter. In my living room a run a Bryston 4B 250 watts a side on my H2 and again i never burnt anything, the idea if self control and take it easy on the volume.
  6. Look like Altec 511 the horn to me not electrovoice 640 http://www.electrovoice.com/searchresults.php?type=downloads&searchinput=HP640 [] but look realy nice setup.
  7. It says it all here http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/03/audiophiles-cant-tell-the-difference-between-monster-cable-and/
  8. You do not need to rip it because you only have one cd rom, what gonna happen is the program will copy it for you on the hard drive(temp image) then pop out your drive insert blank and burn i the process should be transparent. When i was using windose i was using feurio with great sucess.
  9. Copper may be copper but long strand copper vs short strand is definitely different. Put a meter on it and check resistance.I can hear a difference also in volume on longer strand copper. When I went to the AQ X2 wire I had to drop a half notch on the volume control. It was that noticable. Not scientific but noteworthy. I'm not so sure on burn in on speaker wire but I've heard the difference in IC burn in. I figure playing it out will burn it in. LOL! Just my 2 cents worth Interesting, how did you conduct the test? DBT or you were already knowing which cable you were listening to, because if the latest i suspect placebo effect, did the cables were about the same size( not talking about the jacket here but copper) to start with? and about same length? Did the AQ X2 cable was defective or had some sort of eq built in that would give a signature to the sound? (look like a fancy box on the cable)
  10. Burn in cable how they call that hummmm hummmmm, it does start with oil i think huuummmmm no no snake oil yeah that what it is [] copper is copper. Just clean your contacts once in a while you will be fine.
  11. the A500 will not make your sub thum but many people are using the EP2500 from Behringer or the EP4000 (rebadged EP2500) from Beri as well this will shake your sub :-) . The A500 is a rip off ALESIS 500 that is a ''studio amplifier'' convection cooled no fan noise. Many people are using them full range they are not bad ( i do not like Berhinger this is a moral issue for me about ripping off other's design) Most pro amp are fan cooled and can be noisy, if you do a search on google you will find tons of threads about swapping the fan with a quiet one on the EP2500 that is a rip off (reversed engineered aka Chineese blue print) of the QSC RMX2450. Thing to keep in mind going from 90 watts to 200 watts will not do much for you this is only about 3.1db louder, To be twice louder you need 10 times the wattage. Edit: The A500 is rated 125 watts a side @ 8 ohms @ 1khz so this about 100 watts a side 20-20khz, got to love those false advertise of burst peak to peak power [+o(]
  12. I if stand correct those are to plug a crossover like the CS800 peavey, if you really need to use 2 ways active, it would probably be cheaper to get an external electronic crossover since you do have you buy them anyway.
  13. The big round thing are usually for optional Crossover, the cable above is what you need, i do have 6 pro-amp connected to my AVR with that type of cable.
  14. Use the XLR input or the stribarrier, you can buy a RCA cable that terminate with a XLR, just keep in mind you can have ground loop noise but rare. Those are pro amplifier and XLR is the Standard with 1/4 TRS plug. http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10244&cs_id=1024404&p_id=4777&seq=1&format=2
  15. I read this a while ago i do not know if true or not http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showpost.php?p=3177854&postcount=2477 but according to this guy yes they can heat if too close and out of phase.
  16. Be careful with those type medication, i tried it at home the other day and i had 5 org.....OMG let me tell you i was looking fwd to see my girl friend coming back from work[]
  17. What kind of Klipsch Speakers are those? OPPSS forgot to quote you, KP250 http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/kp-250-overview/
  18. KP250 http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/kp-250-overview/
  19. They are more expensive to produce and usually larger in size as the voltage increase for a specific capacitance.
  20. Driver itself not really, you will need twice the power to achieve same level of SPL.
  21. Bridging apply to amplifier, so for speaker, 2X 8 ohms 100 watts speaker in parallel will give you 4 ohms 200 watts capacity if this is your question. Yes distortion will some how be added since you have 2 speakers now instead of one doing the job, but for same SPL now you have 2 speakers to do the job they will not work as hard and will have less cone mouvement = less distortion, so for your specific application would depends the speakers them self and how linear they are IMO.
  22. Perhaps bad cables or something wrong with the crossover, have you tried to plug your pre-amp directly to the amp just to try to eliminate any guess?
  23. Horn still a 8 ohms load or what ever the impedance of that specific horn.
