  1. I thought about Take it to the Limit- Eagles- but the truth is when i am dead it really does not make any difference. Can't hear it anyway. Skip the funeral- buy a bunch of beer -wine - and liquior-crank up the K horns to what ever tune that makes the survivors happy.
  2. Happy BD Ben. Hope it was a good one. hope everybody is OK Ordering last minute Christmas gifts online Finally got my ZU modded Denon 103R cart. Will have the cash in early Jan to have my TT refirbished and the 103r mounted. This will be a 10 month wait for that little item .Anxious to listen. The bar around the corner has Dales Pale Ale for 2.50 on draft. Maybe head out for a dratf and a burger. Cheers
  3. GREAT DEAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!- HOME RUN You will be very pleased with these- B stock makes zero difference- That big objective will give you vision down to the last second before dark and after if there is any moonlight at all. Enjoy them
  4. Norm Mcdonald was funny as hell -wonder what happened to him- never see him anymore- some of his later stuff kinda reminded me of Dennis Miller The tuscan dinner thrusday night was awesome. I love italian food in general but most of the stuff around here takes like Chef Boyardee out of a can. Happy to find this place- afraid that I will be spending some cash there- Ifyou are ever in Charlotte- check out Toscano near the Southpark area. Anybody heard from Chuck?
  5. True- Swarovskis are insanely expensive if bought at retail.I have 4 pairs of binos-6 riflescopes plus a laser range finder and i have not paid retail yet. The key is checking the internet and dealers for per owned examples and salesmans samples/display models. The top end stuff tends to take a 30% hit when the box is opened but pretty much stays at that price point. I just recently bought a pair of SLC 8 x 30s for 600.00- used once by the owner of the store. They are light and absolutely flawless. They have become my go to bino over my EL 10 x 42s which are heavier. My budddy has a great pair of Leicas he picked up for 400.00- a few scratches on the outside but optics are perfect I too lost a set of pocket Swarovski binos last year. I am still tearing the house up looking for them. Really sucks
  6. LMAO- I needed that- Thanks for posting
  7. Hello friends Headed out to a world class Tuscan eatery. Full report tomorrow Sipping on a makers 46- Life is good Cheers
  8. Ziess rocks Leica rocks Kahlees rocks as well as the gold standard Swarovski- many great brands at the top- they are all great- the mid level bramds are very very good- Nikon is very acceptable and many deals out there. 8 power is the best compromise for sport optics and birding IMHO. The larger the objective- 42 mm - 50 mm- the better low light gathering during the "golden half hour" before dusk - when wildlife tends to move and present - watching-hunting- photo opportunities. In the middle of the day- large objectives are not necessary. I am an optics junkie and I buy the best stuff that I can find at a discount. In any case- you have a lot of good info to work with.
  9. i bought a donor cart- 103 R back in March- guy at ZU said 1 week turnaround- SO I went out and bought the 103 R based on his quote. So I get the cart and call for shipping inst and another guy tells me no parts- have not had mod parts for months- understandably I am pissed- but opt to wait on the goods- fall of 2010. - So I cal in Octl -m they say they have parts 1 week turnaround- One BS story after another- they have my new 103R - rthey have my money and now they say 2 weeks. This is the 3rd version of the original story. I feel that ZU is a cuting edge technology company that has too much on their plate- but I am running out of patence- Just checking to see who else is in this deal - bet it is someone from here. Hope I did not get them in this mess with my post. sorry my fault. I think the main man's name is Kevin- girl is sheilding him from customers.Ii have heard this mod is out of this world from several people- so I am putting up with this BS... for now.. I dont do much myself- no mechinical skills whatsoever- always end up with extra parts
  10. I think I would bump my price point up to around 300-500 if you want something to last and retain value if you ever need to trade up. Good Binos are expensive and generally you get what you pay for. In any case- Here is where to buy SWFA - SAMPLE LIST Many trade ins- mark downs- discontinued - marked down items and salesmans samples- these are the deals they have a brand search on the website- For entry level stuff I reccomend Burris or Nikon If you decide you need better go straight to Swarovski .I have spent tens of thousands of dollars over the past years with these people- highly reccomended.
  11. Hope everybody is doing well. Thanksgiving went fairly well given the circumstances. We opted for the store catered Turkey dinner. Was ok . Strange not having dad around barking orders to the boys.Lots of wine and sweets- going to wreck my diet for sure. Thought about Chuck & julia many times- hope they are OK. Older son shot a nice doe the other day - waiting on some venison. got some frozen salmon that is the best that I have had in a long time- dont know why but is is better than the fresh wild caught in the store- hoping to get another load on Friday. Just got in from the salt mine- trying to decide between a makers 46 and a vodka tonic. ben and fini- hope you guys are doing well- chek back in tomorrow or friday Cheers
  12. Did anybody else send a 103 in for these mods???? I have paid for the mods like back in Oct- They told me that they had parts one week turnaround- Many fairy tales in response to my requests for status updates. The girl on the phone got really short and asked me if I wanted my money back. I backed down because I have been waiting on this mod since last March. I still have Harrys old TD 125 which I have held waiiting on this cartridge. It appears that they never did actually have the parts and are still waiting on the cart bodies from Denon. The girl on the phone said that there other unhappy people other than me. Anybody else on the hook as well??????
  13. Hope it all works out- you can always buy more gear later when things change
  14. I will buy USA whenever possible as long as I am not cutting of my nose to spite my face case by case decision anybody who would do THAT to a cigar- no furtner comment
  15. Sipping on a Oskars mammas Little Yelllar pilsner- waiting on Monday niote football Work was extreme torture= time to unwind and figure what to eat/drink I hate Mondays.
  16. JB- i am saving the grand slam for the Mitchners American Whiskey if I ever find it to try here it is just a liquior store legend- often discussed- rarely seen
  17. You beat me to the punch on the Ht issue. HT- surround or whatever has totally ruined 2 channel- agreed-.maybe I am a little picky with my 2 channel sound but the HT receivers are not made to reproduce proper 2 channel sound. The "CD" mode on most HT receivers is an abomniation. I spent a ton of money trying to buy one system to do both... aint gonna happen. I mixed heritage and reference- tubes and SS- drove my self crazy thying to do both- ended up selling a lot of stuff and building 2 systems sharing only a set of front K horns as a common component. But the light at the end of the tunnel is this- 2 ch- you can start small and cheap and still have great reuslts- sell and upgrade as funds allow. The used items on the garage are not has been junk- very serious audiophile pieces at yesterdays prices. The used SS mac stufff is a good starting point. The Scott and Fisher tube amps are world class pieces by anybodys standards. Yes - HT and SS junk has dealt a blow to the consumer market 2 channel landscape but come hang out with us in the garage section of this forum. You be amazed at what you can have for pennies on the dollar.I have maybe 7500 invested in a very used top of the line system with vintage components. I t murders stuff costing several times the price. When I was at say 2500- same situation. Just takes a little patience
  18. New gear is a joke. Watch the garage= you will find many killer priced 2 ch gear items. . Every component in my system came from forum members except for my CD players at a fraction of the cost. I would also add any of several Sansui integrated amps to the above list
  19. I bought Mike's old VRDs- Craig went through them at the time of the sale. If I had the money at the time I would have had Craig mod mine exaactly like Mike's new ones. Mine sound great and are very acceptable but if going with new- Mike's mods are a no brainer.
  20. MM46 is an excellent match for any cigar especially Cohibas...My favorite is the siglo 6
  21. I lost 40 lbs since Nov and i am keeping it off. 6-3- 221 to 182. Tips- Pineaple chunks in the morning for breakfast. Drink tons of water. The south beach brand diet sweets are very good and filling. grilled fish with a small coating of olive oil.tons of OJ and other juices instead of sugared drinks. lots of gatorade.Heiniken has an excellent lite beer.I did not stop drinking but I lost the coke chasers and cut the amounts in half.I stopped eating the doughnuts and the office goodies brought in by vendors- that was really tough.I switched to the best vegetables that i could find-no canned stuff- fresh or frozen. If you make it 60 days you are home free. Good luck.
  22. Whiskey drinkers take note- The new Makers Mark 46 premiun burbon hits the mark for taste and a smooth presentartion.Severals yeaers in development it was reportedly well researched and taste tested in kentucky before release. For 33 bucks - it rocks. It sells out immediately upon hitting the shelves. There is a shortage here and in SC. I highly reccomend it.[Y]
