  1. Ok I am back- long story short- my father passed away- severe kidney failure- suffering was minimal. Pretty bummed out and numb from the whole ordeal. Trying to stay busy- fast car stuff- adult go kart racing-lots of range time with my beloved HK pistols- several spot and stalk extreme hunts on the leased property down in the swamp with the deer, copperheads, wild boars, coyotes, and many other non game animals- have not killed anything(I am very picky about what I choose to shoot) but many up close and personal priceless expierences with deer- coopers hawks and other wildlife- I am covered with bruises and insect bites but it is a hell of a rush crawiling through the swamp with a shotgun coming within several feet of wild animals. Very theraputic- takes me away from my problems. work is a living horrible hell- I am hopelessly swamped and I have people asigned to help me dig out after this. Busy beyond belief. My drink of choice during this ordeal has been makers 46- home run effort. Chuck- I thought about you and your wife throughout this nightmare- I pray that she is better- call me if you need somebody to talk to.
  2. Thanks to everyone for all of the posts and e- mails. They have provided lots of comfort and support during this difficult time. This is a great group of people. Chris
  3. LIAR!!!!!!! That has the distinct look of a seroius cut from a broken bottle of JW blue scotch. You cant fool us.
  4. posed to be the cats @ss- guess I will find out shortly
  5. I got a heads up the other day that parts for the ZU mods for the Denon 103/103R are now available after a long peroid of no stock. I think that they are also shipping complete cartridges. If you want one they are going to do a production run next week. These parts will be gone quickly. I have been waiting 8 months. Mine will be in the next run.
  6. My dad lost his battle yesterday afternoon. His weeks at the nursing home were fairly comfortable until tues morning when he expierenced a fall. He was incoherent afterward and nobody really knows whether he was injured in the fall or suffed a stroke or whatever. He had 2 days of severe pain under sedation and thankfully passed before a lengthy ordeal of suffering. Many thanks for all of the kind words and e-mails. You do not realize how much this means when going through sometinng like this. Busy giving his personal effects to charity- doing death certs- dealing with funeral homes- and trying to keep my mother on an even keel. Got some audio goodies on the way in- ready to put this behind me and back to my normal routine. Thanks again to everybody
  7. Chuck- I thought about Julia through this mess. Hoped that she was better. given her age -I hope that a transplant or some other miracle is in the cards for you. I have never had to deal with anything like this. The kind words have uplifted me more than you all will know. The people on this forum are all solid gold. I will return after this is over.
  8. I am sad to report that my dad is dying. 10 yr kidney transplant patient- massive kidney failure. I have been dealing with this on a daily basis for the last 1-1/2 months. He will die within the next 2-8 weeks according to the doctors. Have not felt like posting - mixing it up with my frineds on the left- listening to my music- or tweaking my stuff. My mom is not taking this well- dealing with the nursing home- dealing with him or otherwise. I did not want my friends here to think I had just checked out without an explanation. I will be back after this thing plays out. Hopefully sooner than later as there are pain issues in play. Best to all
  9. I am posting this under another heading from my other thread seeking assistance. I wish to advise of a friends expierence. Sat morning-My buddy was out of town on a golf vacation. his wife was checking out the weekend mall specials online . The computer starts acting funny and virus messages start popping up. they look like legit windows messages. Then a green screen appears with an official looking antivirus company logo that resembled Mcafee. She figured that the virus protection was up for renewal and promptly provided debit card information. When Jim returned on Monday the bank was overdrawn fron the debit card. There were a number of overdrafts and fees. He could not get gas or buy groceries. The bank restored the money- but that was on Wednesday. I got this same virus on Sat as well- So did 4 of my co -workers. it appear thjat mine came from tracking a shipment on an e-bay purchase. My boss's computer picked up while nobody was even in the room. The intention is to obtain credit card info for hackers from the bogus AV site. Please warn any unsuspecting family members who have access to your computers. This is a really bad one. You do not have to click on any attachments or nothing. Watch out.
  10. OK got it fixed.ran malware virus gone- no internet access- thought maybe the malware and the new antivirus program had set the forewall settings too sensitive to allow internet access- no the case firewall settings fine. We were able to do a system restore back to 2 weeks ago. wireless card got hit as the virus was killed off but came back up with system restore. We ran malware 3 times- totall of 5 infected fixes. came back clean after the last run restoring back to 2 weeks. Everything seems to be OK Side rant- I imediately bought Norton for the main house PC. Norton 360 for about 80.00. I checked the my account for the product code to load onto the other 2 computers in the house and I noticed the status was listed as trial subscription. the product codes would not load onto the other laptops. Never had that problem before. So I call some guy at Norton who can barely speak English. He tells me that my laptops have to be calibrated before I can load the product code from the purchased Horton AV software. Huh???? they wanted 80.00 to load the "free 360 extra downloads" onto my other computers. The account is set up as a trial subscription- that is obviously the problem. And they wanted 100.00 to remove the virus in addition to the 80.00 to load the computers with an AV program that I already paid for. What a bunch of crooks!!!- Now i will have to spend another 30 mins takling to hadji about my 80.00 "trial subscription" So total price at their rate- 260.00 for 3 computers. WT$$$$$$$$????????. As for the doctor- I have another horror story which I will post under separate cover.
  11. Fini -prayers and best wishes Chuck- Duke is about as good as it gets. fighting with this $%%$ computer virus since Sat. What a PITA. virus writers/senders should be shot. no new toys- no fun -just work if anybody is buying i am drinking
  12. The malware cleaned out the virus like a can of raid. I will run it several times. I have been unable to log on to the internet since running it- need to check the wireless cards and several other things when I get home. Should malware be run several times one right after another or wait a while?
  13. Sorry I forgot THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! will post progress
  14. downloaded malware- tried to kill the virus- no luck yet- blocs all keyboard entries. This thing hit 4 laptops at work over the weekend. in one case the people were not even in the room I do not know how to start in safe mode Someone at work has a little zip drive with te malware software so far it has fixed 2 otu of 4 just a matter of trial and error- I think that this will fix it.
  15. I could not find them. not a computer whiz.I never mad a backup as prompted to do so.
  16. I looked at some e-mail messages on some e-bay purchases/bids Sat morning. I also looked at a news item on yahoo. My computer went into a loop- I had to shut it down and reboot. When I tried to bring it back up some fake Norton anti virus site was running a scan on my computer. I could not stop it. My keys would not respond. I kept getting prompts to sign up for this anti virus software. It blocked Norton out and I cannot enter commands or get into my internet exployer. My keyboard is blocked. The virus is attached to my log in, I went out today and bought a Toshiba L455 to replace the Dell. Can I get somebody to wipe out the contents and download a windows 7 package into it and give it to the wife? ANybody who sends a computer virus should be executed on pay per view TV.
  17. no credit cards- cash for everything. no land lines only cell phones. look for closeouts and group buys on wine started buying clothes on e- bay rather than dept stores. Lots of bartering. buy suff out of state or from individuals whenever possible. Buy bulk foods at sams club instead of gro stores. Local Sales tax is 8.5 %. talking about tasing it another 1/4% and maybe a 1/2% after that. Don't know where it will end. Not to mention the income tax increase coming in 2011.
  18. Pulling for you Chuck and Julia. I hoped that was all was well and the danger had passed. Hoping that your next post will be a success story. In the meantime- thoughts and prayers. Chris
  19. Last night I left the back liftgate on my tahoe open from 8:00 to 2 AM bringing in beer and groceries/ Does that Qualify?
  20. This looks like real fun. I would love to play some loud stuff outside but the neighbors would have the cops over here pronto. Enjoy!!!!!!
  21. I still have the albums from the 70s- may havfe to pick up the CD- thanks HOW BAD DOES THIS SUCK??????? I am having a wonderful meal last night at the Sushi bar where they have my new found favorite Beer- Heavy Seas Uber Pils on draft. I order another and the batrender brings me a 3/4 full glass with this sad look on his face. He informs me that this is the last they have. Their beers are on a corporate rotation????????? WTF?????????????????????. It will be months before it will return. I don't get it. The bottles they had sold out. The draft sold out. So - If people like something and you are out-- Duhhhhh- Buy some more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No that would make too much sense. Then we had to finish out the meal with Chamay which costs like 6 bucks for a 12 oz bottle.Good Belgian beer but not worth the stupid price.
  22. Been into some serious buying selling trading lately. Flipped a bunch of stuff over the week. Estate sale items and some Swarovski optics. Ended up with a nice Swarovski laser range finder and a Rolex daytona- Stainless with a black dial. Really cool watch. beileve I will keep this one. Gotta sell the Patek Phillipe Drinking through my 1997 california cabs from my storage locker. Wonderfull stuff. Check out the beer research thread- funny stuff and lots of good brew info. Sat Morning - sneaking in a Belevedere and OJ- buying some cheap clothes on e- bay to wear in the warehouse at work- stuff gets ruined on a regular basis. I am throwing out all of my dress pants from the weight loss today along with my Tony bahama casual stuff. there is gonna be some well dressed bum running around charlotte soon picking up chicks from under the bridges on my nicklel[] This is awfull.Hot as 70 hells here- near the 100 mark- heat index 105+ Work continues to be hell. We hired another salesman. Hope he can take up some of the slack. Cheers to all the bar buds- Hope everybody is healthy Cheers
  23. I saw Gary wright in Va back inthe 70s- I believe he also played wit Spooky Tooth if I am not mistaken. His show was awesome- He has a really good album called Footprint-Impossible to find. In my search for the perfedt Pilsner- tried Scrimshaw- too light and mundane for my taste- Found Checovar in 6 packs for 9.99 which is cheap- normally 12.00 This one is a winner- MAMA'S LITTLE YELLAH PILS out of Colorado- 12 oz cans- Full bodied-Apparently is has success and recognition as it is sold in NC and other states.I really enjoyed it.
